This video was super interesting! I’ve been practicing a 7-second brain trick that’s backed by NASA research, and it’s really effective. I mentioned it on my profile if anyone’s curious.
Alex: “You know way more than I do” Chris: “Shut up” That dialogue cracked me up, but it shows the chemistry between you two and how great your friendship is. Thank you for these interviews.
Chris, you have become one of the best interviewers on the scene. Every question you ask shows the depth of research you have done prior to the interview and I can tell that your guests notice this as well. I was one of those who developed a morning routine with breathing exercises, cold showers, walking, meditation, etc. one day I realized that I spent maybe 2 hours on prepping for work. Now I get right to it every day and in my breaks I do parts of my morning routine. I get 70% more work done every day this way. Would love to keep on praising you but there is work to be done.
1:30 Open loop vs Closed loop - Cliffhangers, finishing halfway through the sentence (open loops) - reduces the activation energy required to finish the sentence the next day, & more importantly, keeps the sentence active in your brain (so you are constantly thinking about it).
So many “influencers” mentally masturbate to “high performance habits”. It’s been very freeing to not feel like I must do a cold plunge followed my shouting affirmations in the mirror to be productive
It’s all about what gets you to where you want to go. If you do it just because someone told you it’s beneficial, it’s a prescription. Avoid prescriptions.
Procrastination is such a killer. I have been using the Pomodoro method my friend in Medical school uses. Sucked it up and bought a chess timer. Best investment ever! Now I throw my cell phone out of sight and just open the laptop to write and prospect. Thank you Alex and Chris, you have both been the mentors I needed to change my life! Much Love.
Hey man I like the chess clock idea. Which one did you buy? Also, do you time yourself as long as possible in work or do you do timed sessions? I feel like using this method to see how much total concentrated work i can do in a day..
This hits deep, I’ve always wanted to be a writer but I’m waiting for the perfect storm of conditions to start rather than just getting on with it and now I feel like I’ve been called out 😂
From my current point in life this and Chris's discussion on committing to one thing for a year and acting as a pro hit home so hard. Incredible value.
The blueprint for making an average Tuesday becoming a good day , that Alex Hormozi has achieved is this , The requirements are creation , contribution, and connection as long as you accomplish these three things throughout the day you will perpetually have a good day.
Is there a reason that the guest isn’t introduced? I should just listen to this person without knowing them? At least Rogan introduces the person every time…even when they truly don’t need it
Alex is rarely wrong. He learned a lot from his risk taking, about himself, but also about how psychology plays a role in a lot of people's business decisions.
"Easy productivity hack: Instead of spending time “getting in the mood to work”…just start working. Confront the work. People think they need perfect conditions to start, when in reality, starting is the perfect condition." -Alex Hormozi
I love this! My internal phrase is just do it. I call all days of the week Something Day cuz I enjoy them all equally. I love what he said about being addicted to work. That praise generally has a negative connotation with many people, but not, I think, the most successful ones. 😎
This is scary....I genuinely believe that he's putting in as deep work as possible for 12-16hours 6 and a half days a week and that scared me to imagine people out there are who we're "competing" with to create our reality. Over 1 year to the average person that's a gap they won't be able to cover. I respect it but damn that's committement. I struggle with the maintenance aspect of having that focus everyday for even 4 months. I got to 3 weeks and life's problems threw me off the path. How do you guys manage it?
it all comes down to how much you prioritise your work, if it’s THAT important to you.. you will make sure you stay on top of it and dont let life get in the way
The important thing to realize so you don’t get discouraged is this is what a hyper successful 100+ million dollar entrepreneur does to stay ahead. If this isn’t your goal then 1 you don’t need to do this and 2 if you think you want to have hundreds of millions of dollars then it’s a wake up call that you probably dont want hundreds of millions of dollars because this is what it takes. If you want financial freedom it can easily be done with 40 hours a week with intentional work
There is a trick that i do to wakeup whenever i want regardless of how much sleepy i am, i thought i throw it here and i hope you find it useful. The trick is : whenever you are at bed and struggle to get off just hold your breath untill your body feels like it's in danger. That way you instantly get a dopamine boost that refreshes you. Didn't work ?! Do it again. Also another trick to stop procrastinating is that, you're procrastinating because you are already doing something hence you can't start another thing which is the important work. Whenever you feel that empty your time by simply freezing your self and what ever at your hand throw it off and stop thinking only feel your surroundings. After 2 or 3 mins you mind can't just stop doing nothing and then simply you fill your time with important work. For time managment just set deadlines for each task at hand and make sure it's tight therefore you'll race time to get things done 10x faster
Im a student, but i do deliveries as a side gig, and the hardest part of delivering shit is defnitely just starting, that first delivery in the scorching sun or the rain sucks ten times more than the second one
I agree but I also feel like for some people this would cause burnout some people need to keep pushing so they don't lose momentum but some people just aren't built that way and need more balance but i I definitely agree regardless when it is a very hard or anxiety provoking task you're procrastinating just facing it and getting started definitely removes that mental block it's usually not as big of a deal as you think it is also even though it shouldn't be used to procrastinate the task at hand I do believe some of the self help morning routine style advice does have value improving mental performance and thus increasing productivity you just have to not get bogged down in the details and it's definitely easy to become addicted to those supposedly healthy habits as a way to avoid the actual work
How about when you’re a parent and you can’t always just work a 12 hour+ day, 6 1/2 days a week, and you might actually have deathbed regrets if you do. Even beginning when you want isn’t always an option. Not trying to make excuses for myself, but when you have a really productive, successful person with young kids, I would love to know their hacks and advice.
the loop goes also for songs stuck inyour head? i think it must be the same mechanism, because when you have a song stuck in your head, just listne it from start to finish and it is gone. Someone?
Get started? Thanks Captain Obvious. This isn't rocket science. In so many words, don't wait for the "perfect" time to get started because that time doesn't exist because it's in your imagination. The "perfect time" to get started is now.
‘Nothing had gotten done’ - but it had! Good morning routines help you be calmer, get sunlight for wakefulness and later good sleep and vitamin D, hydrated, clean and in the right mindset to do you work day well. What Alex says sounds good on the surface but when you pause to consider it is actually reductionist nonsense, if it was politics it would be popularism - sound bites without substance.
1) I will do what's required 2) This work needs doing 3) I never regretted working harder If you're a person obsessed with the amount of work per unit of time: focus on starting the work than productivity porn
Some fantastic stuff in here. Though, someone working 17 hours a day six and a half days a week is not indicative of a healthy person or life. For me, that is not a wealthy lifestyle. Regardless how much money you get out of it.
If you don’t know deep inner silence you know nothing. Then you will run around endlessly chasing phantoms of the mind to fill the void. Then the mind will need to justify it to you and others to keep the trap set.

Make Tuesdays an average day. Great advice. If you're enjoying the average days you've won.

Not having kids or friends or family I guess and never cooking for yourself or cleaning or doing laundry or going for a walk... Honestly that's nuts.
The important thing to realize so you don’t get discouraged is this is what a hyper successful 100+ million dollar entrepreneur does to stay ahead. Everyone who has an obscene amount of money has worked 12+ hours a day 7 days a week while they were doing it
He's wrong, all studies show you're less productive at 55 hours and above than at 40 hours. For many reasons, fatigue, mental acuity, etc.
The best way to start working is by starting to work
Ironically I’m procrastinating by watching this… 😬
