American pronunciation has some tongue and jaw movement that is foreign to my Kenyan mother tongue, national language and English! The challenging sounds are the vocalic Rs as in "far" as opposed to "fur" or "fa." They all end up sounding the same, usually as "fa."

What people should understand with English is that there's no Kenyan English. The English language spoken in Kenya should be the standard British English which depends with each and everyone's up bringing and how exposed they're with the language. The right pronunciation should therefore be the British. Any word not pronunced according to the British accent is wrong. That's what is taught in Kenyan Schools. All these 'Kenyan accent thing' doesn't represent the country at all. Don't be cheated.
Well, given that there are 40 different accents of English in the UK alone, I find it difficult to believe that Kenyans are expected to follow the "right pronunciation" which should "be the British". To deny Kenyans their dialects of English (and there are multiple) is to erase Kenyan culture, isn't it?
You're so personal. Believe it or not there's a standard kenyan accent that non kenyans have pointed it out to me. To my non kenyan friends, I have an accent. When I watch videos with kenyans in it, I can identify their accent. Also as a linguistic student, there's a thing called the East Africa variety, its the English in East Africa and its accepted as an English by itself . Please you can't expect us to speak British English like its owners when we aren't natives of English. Our kenyan English is its own language, minus the broken English. There's a way we use words like escort to mean 'niescort kwa duka' only but in the dictionary, escort has another meaning we don't use and this is our English, it's recognised by Cambridge. There's a whole study to it, a whole book about african varieties of English. Standard kenyan accent exists. Native language influenced accent also exists. Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean It doesn't exist.
