Thanks mate. I think my wife has been commenting on some of your videos (Honest Movie Reactions). It's actually because of YOU and your Dark Knight videos that I even got this game and played it. Thank you for that.
I think im gonna make a knight Khajiit, who’s afraid of undead and Daedra, and I will have her join the equivalent of the Vigilants of Stendarr in this game to get over those phobias.
The only issue I have with the creation of amazing role playing characters is that to complete the main quest, it is almost impossible without either good combat skills or magic right? I finished the game with a character similar to your Dark Knight (a few differences). He had no magic, but was amazing in combat in every way possible. By the end, he was killing liches with only a couple of hits! It was fun to use potions and not use magic while being a powerhouse in combat. I haven't watched much of your Mad Genius playthrough because while you are damn entertaining, I find the character too strange. Like having to run away from all combat practically etc.
@@AdventureArtGaming What can I say mate. You have way more patience than I do 😉. I like to feel powerful in some way along with the challenge. I guess that's why I loved your Dark Knight idea, since we get so severely handicapped with no magic etc in the game, but we can still be an awesome fighter.
@@obesereleaseasia5770 Its weird, that idea for the Dark knight, a non magic character like that. Popped into my head before I even knew about Daggerfall Unity. Thats what started all of this :) Also I think its because I played him I wanted to play a weirder character like Mad Genius, after this I will probably want to play something else. Already have an urge to use Archery for some reason :D
@@AdventureArtGaming I tried the whole archery thing, but it felt so strange running around dungeons with a bow, but that's just me. It felt fun on the outside world though. I was riding my horse and sniping everyone with my bow. Felt like some Mongolian horse archer 😂 I kept raiding all those forts that send out armies at you. I did the same with the orcs. Ended up with endless loot because of these raids.
I am enjoying this channel! Also, man, most of these different character ideas, I would love to see playthroughs of those. It's like a free content generation idea for you, and I would genuinely enjoy watching.
Great video as always! I like to generate my characters using dice and some imagination. I roll an 8 sided die to determine race and gender. Then I roll a 20 sided die to determine a base class. I'll then look at the character sheet for that class and modify it to fit whatever thoughts occur to me. This has recently generated a wood elf bard, except she uses Archery instead of Short blade and uses language skills instead of magic. In this case, the languages are all creatures you'd find in Valenwood: Centaurs, Harpy, Spriggan etc. Love your videos man, keep up the good work!
Nice idea for a series! Also it was cool to see my goofy role-playing comment appear in a video 😂. I've been meaning to do a new playthrough of Daggerfall Unity and this is giving me some good ideas.
Love this, they seem fun! I think the favourite character i've made so far was a hand-to-hand fighter using alteration/restoration to buff himself up, it was surprisingly strong early on, started to struggle quite a lot later tho
@@AdventureArtGaming yeah the no weapons started to sting later in the game when ebony and daedric were dropping, I just generally like buffing classes, so overcoming my lack of weapons by using spells i crafted was really cool
Fully agreed. Characters with all buffs and no negatraits are boring as hell. One of my favourite character is all strength and all weapon and fitness skill. No maintenance or support skills whatsoever.
Hey man, you're doing great work with these videos! Can we get your current modlist though bro? Heck it doesn't even have to be a video, just a pastebin or drive link / Dropbox link / etc would be great!
My first ever Daggerfall Unity character was a really awesome spellslinging swordswoman. I called the class a "Swordceress" and played as a high elf with no spell absorption as one of the disadvantages (don't remember the others, weakness to an enemy type probably), giving me a ton of leeway to add positive attributes like gaining more HP per level and having a large mana pool. Finally, she used Longswords and was proficient in all magic, but had no medical at all. She never drank a health potion the entire run, in fact I believe I never used any potions at all. I made it my mission to only heal and cure myself with my own spells since my mana pool was so large. Having a very high longsword skill and eventually acquiring a Daedric blade and plate armor allowed her to be a hugely damaging tank with a spell to solve every problem. It was amazing, and I absolutely fell in love with Daggerfall playing that character.
This is why I decided to try out Daggerfall a few years back, because of the character creation. I love the roleplay it allows, and also being able to build characters with flaws that can hinder them permanently or flaws that they can overcome. I do think there is room for more systems like this in modern games. I also came up with a better idea for having forbidden skills and equipment. For example. In real life if someone isn’t mathematically inclined than they might struggle in school when they are young, but as an adult they might find a new interest in math. Though that journey would be hard to learn for them, they can still study and work hard to achieve even small goals in their math skills. Which happens to be my experience. So instead of forbidding things from characters, I’d love to have a system that lets me pick things about my character like never having an interest or the strength to use heavy armor, so when I wear it I’m super super weak and slow, but with enough practice I can overcome. But make that journey really hard to make. But I like these systems tied into character creation. Doesn’t all have to be skill based. Things might change, but one of the things Bethesda has said about Starfield are the different character traits that have advantages and disadvantages, so I’m definitely playing my first play through as a character with a mortgage and in debt. Unless they remove that feature lol
Yes! Daggerfall is like two games, one is character creation and the other is playing the game! The other stuff you wrote makes me think about the deeper and deeper and more realistic character creation, when they finally get it perfectly correct, with flaws, advantages, randomness, hardships, joys, and figure out that permadeath is the most exciting way to play. We will all realize its life and we had it all along!
@@AdventureArtGaming Yes exactly! CRPGs should give as many choices and randomness to mimic real life, without becoming to tedious. The other day I had more fun, thinking about a character I wanted to build in Skyrim than I ever would have playing that character. So I ended up not even making them. That was due to the limitations Skyrim imposes on me, despite the game being fun to play. I’d even like the ability to have a weird quirks you could gain in The Outer Worlds, but in that you got them as you played and not during creation. I want a system that gives me the option for both. If I want to start with a phobia I should be able to, but if I want to play a character that gains a phobia over time do to something dramatic I want that option too. Or maybe a way to over come my shortcomings! Sounds so much fun.
