I’m a widow and learning everything about how to maintain and fix my outdoor equipment. Your video was extremely helpful. After putting on new spindles and blades I took apart the rear adjustment arms (they had craftsman 20 mm sockets on them along with rusted bearings). I also rebuilt the carburetor on the Husquivarna YTH 24V48. The springs were not fun on this one. After looking at a parts diagram I quickly determined the idiot at the repair shop had no idea what he was doing. Now I own two extra craftsman sockets he had on the rear adjustment arms trying to level the mower and I have a level mower. Thanks again for such a clear, descriptive video and thanks for letting me know what tools I needed in advance.
Thanks for a great detailed video. I decided to go for 3 1/8" in the front and 3 5/8" in the rear of my 46" deck. That should be the maximum height to go as it comes real close to my belt rubbing but, time will tell. I should be barely safe with the belt. My front was at about 2 3/4" to start and the rear was 3 1/2" to start, so, adjustment was in order. Been that way since new and I have 72 hours on it. Great tractor for sure! BTW, I run LEADED 'NON corn alcohol' fuel that I get from a gas station near me. I run it in all my small engines as it's a safe alternative and it stores much longer without gumming up as with Unleaded corn alcohol fuel, and my hoses will be just fine. ALSO for those who don't know, the triple bagger for the 48" decks will fit the 46" DECK mowers. Usually the 46" decks are two baggers. I found out by mistake when I bought the triple bagger and it fit great. When I went to look for a new rubber part for the chute, the triple baggers said for 48" decks and double bagger for 46" decks. Boy was I happy to learn my mistake was a perfect fit! The more bags the better and the longer you get to mow in between dumping's.
I just watched your video. Learned how to level my deck without getting a man to do it for me. Easy fix. Thank you so much for explaining everything in detail that is needed.
First you helped me with my pellet stove, now with the mower deck. I’m looking forward to see what you can help me with next. Thanks again Jim. Love your channel!

Thank you Jim! You are an incredible help! I have never known how to do this and I've had my Husq for over a decade! a few weeks back a bashed into the metal dog stake in the yard, felt like I drive into a concrete wall! I've been scraping dirt and cutting crappy ever since until I googled at found your a$$-kicking video! Thank you brother!!
Thank you! Your video was super helpful and easy-to-follow. I'm generally not too good with repairing things, but you made it simple. Our lawn should look much better after this adjustment!
Used your instructions and leveled my deck for the first time (I am seventy something). It went very smoothly. Thank you for making this video. Much appreciated. And I am subscribing.
@@DIYJIM I’m not very mechanical in the areas of riding mowers. I was having this exact problem today while cutting my grass. I noticed that the deck was not even. I came in the house and looked on UA-cam and I found you on my first search. And I watched your video and went back outside and I did exactly like you instructed and it worked.
Thanks for making this video. I tried the steps in the video on my Craftsman 46 (Husqvarna) and saw a great improvement! No more stairstep cuts. Thanks again!
thanks! I gave you a thumb-up. I found mine was right at 2-1/2" at the front. I wanted to raise it a 1/2" any-way, cause it cuts too short. thanks again! PS, mine is a 2013 22V46.
Hi, yes it worked great,my mower was way off,it actually took me a couple hours ,taking breaks, didn't have the 3/4 " deep socket, but took my time and got it right, thanks again, have a good one!!!
Another great video of yours that has helped me. Not sure if I missed you saying it but, it’s probably worth noting that you had your deck raised to the highest setting before you started adjusting everything. Keep up the great work!
To make the job a little easier, cut 3 or 4 blocks of wood at the right size you need and mark the sizes. That way your not fighting with a tape measure. Thanks for the video.
@Jeff Haddan I though about that as long as the mower itself is level. I was just going by the manual. Not everyone has a level. Thanks for commenting and watching
Thanks for the video. I have felt like mine was off ever since I bought it new last summer, It seems to cut much lower than my previous mower even at the highest level
Great video, thank you very much! In the video, I noticed that your deck height selector was at it's "max deck height" position (number 6), when you were showing us how to do the adjustments. My question is, "Is 3.5 inches in height for the rear of the deck at max height, listed by Husqvarna's factory service manual as the correct height for that setting? Thanks for any reply, and thanks again for the lesson. 👍
I have damage to the wiring harness due to a mouse or something. Will have to buy the entire harness? Two wires ( gray and black) are chewed in two on the harness and on the other side.
I have a YT 42XLS, I bought used, without a user manual. This helps! Thank You! BTW, the middle of the 3 (sharpened) blades is leaving a trail of partially uncut grass, and I have to go back and mow it twice. Any suggestions?
I have the adjustments right but for some reason it is still leaving a strip of grass when I cut. For some reason also my anti scrap wheels are not even. The right and left front are not even. Any advice?
Last week my Husky started self destructing as I was mowing. A major weld broke from the bracket holding the deck. When it was welded they missed the seam completely and the weld was also cold. Sure wish I had bought another MTD!! Husky sucks! This is also a replacement mower. The first one had the transaxle replaced three times!
I have the same mower and last year I hit a rock while mowing the ditch next to the road and bent a blade really badly. It also broke the spindle. So I just replaced the spindle and blades and the deck was uneven. It only had an adjustment on one side and I had to max it out to make it even. The belt was ruined by the broken spindle so I replaced it as well. Now the weird part…when on the highest setting the blade is now engaged and I can’t even turn the engagement lever to the position it is supposed to be in for blade engagement. I’m not sure why but I actually like it a little bit because I don’t have to disengage the blade to back up anymore which always annoyed me and the height is perfect for the way I like to cut my grass anyway. And when I hit a tall and thick spot I can just press the engagement lever towards the position for engagement and it prevents the belt from slipping and powers right on through it. I am going to take a look and see if I can figure out what is causing this I guess but I had to get the grass mowed before it got completely out of control and like I said I kind of like the way it worked. The only thing is that I can’t disengage the blades so it could be a little inconvenient at some point. If you have any ideas why this might be happening I would appreciate your input and thanks for reading this long comment. I appreciate your videos and I have found them helpful! 👍
That was a long comment. Thank you very much for watching my video. Sorry I really could not guess why this is happening. Hope you get it figured out. Have a good summer.
Hello Jim, new subscriber here. I was hoping you could help me out. I have that mower and I’m experiencing the left front tire rubbing on the deck. The deck is level, but for some reason the left tire is hitting the deck when I turn to the left, do you have any solutions for me, my friend thanks in advance.

Do you leave the deck all the way up when adjusting
@@richardsloan1217 I don’t think It matters just so both sides are the same when your done
Did you have the deck in the full “UP” position when making your adjustments??
It does not matter just make sure they match when your done.
What did you have the mower height setting at. From your video it looks like it is set on the highest setting?
It does not matter what the height is set at when you make adjustments because there is only one adjustment from side to side then one in the front.
Thanks for the info.

On at 42 inch Husqvarna when the deck is at its highest setting what height should the back be and front? Is it 3.5 in back and 3 1/4 front? Thanks

My question is where is the right rear adjuster supposed to be set at? My deck seems really low on that side.
There is only one adjuster just make it even with the other side.
