140k people were so excited they leveled their deck they forgot to hit the like button. Thanks for your vids man! Very helpful
Ha ha, thank you. Much appreciated. I wish a few more people hit that button.
Thanks for a short straight forward how to. I come back to your video once a year to relearn how to level the deck. Thanks again.
I've watched a lot of repair videos and this guy was probably one of the most comprehensive.Well thought out guys that i've seen on here yet.
I am 86 but your splendid advice and fotos made the mower deck adjustment doable. Many Thanks
You made it sound so much easier than anyone else I’ve watched thank you
No problem. I try to make it sound doable to empower people to try and get things done themselves!
Awesome! Quick, concise and to the point! Just what I needed. Thank you.
You sir are a genius! I've been plagued by uneven cut bc it's difficult to get the height correct. This made it much easier. Thank you
Kept it simple and straight to the point, thanks for including socket and wrench sizes. GREAT VIDEO!
Super helpful! My lawn was so uneven until i watched this video. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video! Dad bought a new Troy-Bilt Pony 42, "assembled" by the store, then he fell ill, and I mow the lawn for the first time using it - DEFINITELY must not have been leveled by the store @ assembly... Took just minutes to correct by watching your video, & lawn came out perfect. Thanks again.
our video is very good. Alot of us need people like yourself to show us the ins and outs of "How To". Keep up the good work.
Fantastic! I’m in Australia and the exact same mower is branded a “Rover Raider”-almost impossible to find useable information online. This little video is the exactly perfect help I needed. Thank you so much! I owe you a beer, but I’m gonna drink it when I finish cutting the lawn! 🍻👍
Yeah, there a ton of mowers out there that are basically the same mower. MTD makes almost everything anymore. Never heard of the Rover Raider though. Good stuff. Enjoy my beer!!
Thanks so much. I’ve been waiting for this video. Yes I was doing it completely wrong. I very much appreciate your time doing this so quick since I asked you for it. Great channel. Keep it up👍👍👍👍
These two videos you posted about the TroyBilt Pony are well done and just what I needed to learn. Thank you !! You are the Man !
Awesome vids. I've had a PONY now for about 5 years now and the thing is a beast. This morning I ran over a small stump and knocked my blade engage loose. I'm using your vids to view where the parts go.
Thank you and good luck with piecing it back together. I've loved mine. It gets the job done!
First video I found. Bought a new mower and it was cutting high on the discharge side and was super frustrated. I remembered a coworker telling me he adjusted one before so I looked for and found this video first. Super well done, and not full of a bunch of crap filler talking I don't need. Good vid!!! I'll give it a shot next weekend when I cut again.
Thanks again I hacked up my back yard now I look at your video solved problem.Even grass cut now
Just saved me a boat load of money on a servicing on my tractor. Thank you very much! All level now!
Man I appreciate you this is the 2nd video I’ve watched of yours it is great insight and really helpful thanks!
Thanks for posting these videos for the Pony! Found your channel just in time this year as my Pony is due for a whole bunch of maintenance this year!
Thank you, this helped me level my deck! My lawn looks so much better with an even cut!
Thank you so much! My lawn is totally hacked up because it's so unlevel. I've already looked after the tires, now to see if I need to adjust anything else you mentioned. Thanks again!! 🤗🤗
No problem, Tim. Hopefully that yard's nice and smooth after an adjustment or 2!
Oh man! Doing this tomorrow!! Been cutting uneven strips for a bit now. Thank you sir!
Thanks Flip! Just what I needed, and less than five minutes to make me a trained Pony Killer :-)
Thanks. Your video is the only one I have found that shows how to use that crazy ratchet left to right leveler. Every mower I have owned and video I have watched have had the two rods on either side that you can simply turn to adjust. When I fist got my new mower I thought, oh my God, this thing can only be leveled front to back. Glad to see how this works.
Great video! Didn't realize my deck wasn't level until I scalped my yard in a consistent pattern
Thank you for the well thought out and easy to follow video. Keep up the fantastic work.
Good on you mate, great video, clear and concise. I have an MTD Yardman with a 42" 2-blade deck and the side-to-side leveling mechanism is the same, and the front leveling bolt-bar is very similar, only you have to drop the deck to adjust the 2 nuts (one nut adjusts the bar length, the other nut locks against it to maintain bar length).
The only thing I would add, is that inflating to the same tyre pressures is a good start but don't stop there. Measure the height of the top of the rim above ground on both sides, and adjust the tyre pressure until both are the same and therefore axles level. Mine was out by 7mm with the same PSI, by dropping ~2PSI I could level the axle before doing the rest of the measuring and checking.
Ahh I like that one. Good thinking there. Nice tip. Yeah MTD makes these Troy-Bilts (and most other brands) so they are all very similar in setup!
Clear and easy to understand instructions!! This is the same set up on a Craftsman T110. (DOM 2019)
Thank you! Yes most of the mowers are made by MTD anymore (actually it's Stanley Black and Decker now) and they are all VERY similar!
Thanks for the video! It was very helpful, especially the part about checking the tires before trying to level the deck; my right-rear tire was flat!
There you go! Getting it level with a flat tire would be really hard to do!
That was great information because I bought a troy bilt pony rider and have know manual and the deck needs leveling. Thanks so much
I needed this video for today I just bought and used Troy bilt and now after watching your video I can adjust my blade thank you
Great video. I need to level my deck and I'm going to make a little ruler just like you did.
Thank you for your videos, they are great. (Blade changing without removing the deck is very good as well). 🙂🙂🙂
Great video, well explained. Going to apply this to my cub cadet. Thanks
I am very happy to have found your video. I did not know how to adjust the deck. I was thinking my deck was missing parts.
Thanks
I’m here killer 😂 I figured as long as I have my pony....your channel will be a good guide for me, and when I finally get it right....maybe I’ll make my own videos 😂
@Neil Barrett I must try this “Flixzone” for myself!! Is it an app? Or just a website?
Thank ya sir. Watched this with coffee. About to rebuild my FIL's deck and this was great info.
Enjoyed watching this video
Good vid. I've got a Rover Raider & it's exactly the same mower with different decal, seat & bonnet on it by the looks of it.
Thanks for posting this it help I have got a Rover MTD 547/38 In the manual The front tyres are 10 Lb, 10 PSA and the rear tyre should be 15 Lb, 15 PSA
Ahhh interesting. In Australia? Yeah MTD makes almost everything these days.
Thank you so mich just what i needed jist biught my tb42 its much better now got new bkades too
👍Thank you sir although my model year is different the adjustments were similar Good Video !
No problem. Glad I could help! Yes, lots of these mowers (even different brands) are all very similar. Most of them are made by the same company (MTD - now Stanley Black & Decker.)
Thanks man! I put air in my tires and problem solved! 💜
@@fixitFlip unfortunately, it’s still off. I thought I had scored big, but now I have to get down and dirty huh? lol 💜
(I’m not excited about that either!!)
@@eliseleonard6093 Ha ha, it's not too hard. If you want to just get a really quick idea of which side is too low just measure the outside of the deck to the ground on each side. Then you adjust the gear. You will just need a couple tools. If you want to be more precise, then you can go under the deck and measure from the blade like I do in the video.
Thanks, very good info.needed as my side level is off and I need to know how to adjust.
I appreciate this video my guy. I just replaced the blades, and the cut is much better, but it was leaving one little tiny strip that was not level. Come to find out my air pressure was a little bit off and my front deck was equal to my back. A little fix and we’re about to test!
I just bought a new riding mower and I need to refresh myself on lowering the deck and cutting my grass. It wants to go dead on me
Thanks i blades were cutting uneven. I am not mechanical but u made it easy for me
Thank for your video. I have the very same mower. I got my meet serviced and when I got it back. The shoot side was cutting way to low. I did what you said in the video. It still is cutting to low on the shoot side, it helped a little though. I just don't know if maybe I'm doing something wrong or did they put something on wrong or what. I'm not sure. I do have a bagger attached to the mower.
Hell yeah thank you my friend.... bought a Huskee used which is basically the same mower and I am definitely a bit off I suspect.
Great video I used this to level out my Huskee lawn tractor it’s a Huskee 3800/38inch deck however I got to looking at something in your video my Huskee is made exactly like that Troy built?
Yep. They are both made by MTD. Huskee, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt and on and on. Almost all made by the same company, so they are very similar!!
This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability, deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.
I really appreciate how you simplify things and do not make them seem so intimidating. Thank you for keeping it simple for us less mechanically inclined.
No problem and glad I could help!
