- The Homer Spit is a popular destination point in Alaska and also know for being the Halibut capitol of the world. It is also the most accessible place to surf cast for halibut and other species of saltwater fish. At the end of the Homer spit is the Land's End beach. This beach is perfect for surfcasting and a great place to take your kids for a successful outing. The beach slopes gently and then drops off into the calm, fertile waters of Kachamak Bay. We took our kids out for some successful surf fishing and even caught a halibut that swam into our chowder pot.
That is one smart dog you have! I think he need his own Channel.
Lol she is very smart, and kind of has a start of her own channel, but finding the time to keep up with this channel and work a day job makes it tough
Thankyou for the advice going there next week cant wait now that I know I can catch fish from shore
Good luck… that is the easiest place to start shore fishing off the beach in Alaska
@@HowtoAlaska thankyou
Watched alot of outdoor boys, Nothing much left so here i am.
Hopefully we’ll have some more collaborations with the outdoor boys this winter! Stay tuned
Good catch getting an actual halibut, only seen a few caught right there.
Well we caught 2 that day… I think the trick is keeping the pollock and flounder off the hook
@@HowtoAlaska Of course it is, but how....
@@BG-bx4ey bigger baits, like a whole herring
I always wonder how many times I pass you guys on the highway.
This looks relaxing aside from the gulls
Those gulls are terribly noisy, we found that with herring fishing too…video to come on that as well
It's a wonderful family. I hope to be with you😁😁
That last clip had me laughin
Was this a couple months ago or this month?
This was in June
or late may
I also don't like hair in food😂😂😂
Why did the Alaskan ferry disappear? It was there at 1:29 then it disappeared? Which port was y'all at?
This was in Homer, the video footage was taken over 2 days, 2 short fishing trips so over the time we were there the ferry came and went. That’s just how the cuts happen in editing
You can always tell how good food is by the tezture and color of the hair you pull out! Lol.... Her kid said 8.5 lol....
notice how we all kept eating the chowder anyhow
@@HowtoAlaska Yep I know it's good! I'm from Alaska! I eat it all the time. Especially at Lands End on the Spit!
@@HowtoAlaska love the Clam chowder from Razor Clams from Clam Gultch
@@cleeshann1928 hopefully they open it soon, if they do, expect a video on clam digging early in the spring
@@HowtoAlaska Go either way up or down the beach a mile or more and dig away from the pressure of the people at Clam Gultch. Or take a boat across the inlet. There are clam beaches there too!
Do you Brian the hooligan or anything to make them stay on the hook better? Everyone talks about how soft they are.
They stay on ok without brine
Good to know thanks
Is there any gold in that beach sand?
theres a little flour gold mixed throughout. But it doesnt add up to much
