I’ve only got one criticism of Dan’s review. He referred to the Echo as a “homeowner’s” saw. These Echo saws are 100% professional grade/quality!!! I’m a veteran professional urban forester/climber. A few years ago (after a very disappointing experience with a “Husky” top handle, followed by a heated negotiation with my regional Husky rep) I finally had to replace my aging Stihl 020/200t, and picked up Echo’s cs355t. Could not be happier!!! Countless trees later and rounding on four years, I’ve not had a single issue. Not even so much as having to replace the recoil cord! As a fact I’ve never even had to remove that cover. Nothing even remotely similar can be said of a single Stihl I’ve run . In a side by side comparison the 355t competes neck and neck with the Stihl counterpart, the 201t! and for half the cost. As far as I’m concerned the 355 is twice the saw as their competition, and half the price! If the 590 I’m picking up tomorrow operates like the 355t, I bought my last Stihl chainsaw years ago.
A trick that echo added to get the fuel cap off is to pull out the starter rope a little bit then put the top of the pull handle on the cap and break the cap free with that. I hope this makes sense, if not I can throw together a quick video to show you what I am talking about.
I have this saw as well as the CS 400, two of the best saws I have ever owned. They work all day and I never worry about them failing. Just refill fluids and keep working.
Hi Dan, I picked mine up about a year ago and I am with you %1000. It's one heck of a machine and a blast to cut with it! I have had a couple dozen different saws over the decades, I restore and and sell them, after getting this one and a CS400 (Another saw I GUARANTEE you will love) I sold all of my other saws. I would like to share a few things that you might want to consider. Check your bar oiler adustment screw, mine was set from the factory to not oil the bar enough, and some users have reported that they will fall out. Also, get one of the grease guns for saws and give it a shot in hole at the end of the bar and also into the shaft where the clutch is mounted, this will lube the bearing. Last but not least, they are factory set pretty lean, I never pull limiters because I don't want to mess up the awesome 5 year warranty, but don't be afraid to set it a bit more rich on the high side, it will extend the life of the saw. Good luck, and thanks for the great video!
Thanks pal! I was going to buy a Husqvana 455 rancher . I just happened to come upon your video. You changed my mind really quick.Great informative video Great information . And RIGHT TO THE POINT .👍 Again thank you .
Just picked up this saw. Initially started researching Stihl saws, but this Echo model kept coming up in my searches. The more I read/watched feedback, decided to purchase the 590. We just purchased acreage and needed something more than a suburb Walmart yard trimmer saw…
This saw is almost a pro-sumer saw kinda like the old Stihl 028/038 it's technically a homeowner saw but with it's magnesium crankcase and ample power it's a cut above many of the saws in it's price range. Only thing gripe I have with it is I think they should have made the rim sprocket standard instead of making it a $50.00 upgrade part
Great question! This saw has enough power to run up to a 24 inch bar and ideally it just depends on how big of trees you are cutting down/up. Having a 20 inch bar gives you additional cutting surface area, but an 18 inch will serve you just fine and will have less load and drag than a 20 inch. Heck you can always buy a 20 inch bar and chain to have when needed as it's a quick swap. Thanks for the view and comment!
I do! What are you looking at buying and what do you want to cut and how often are you doing saw work? Those are questions that I ask because unless you have money to burn and buy a top notch saw a lot of the home depot saws will do the work or just get one used from someone off of Facebook market place. Echo has a great warranty, which is nice if you are buying new. Thanks for the comment and the view btw!
@@BigbeardMN good video. I have a stil. Good saw. The dealer that I bought it from moved to another state. Home Depot is a closer option where they have some Timberwolf’s on the shelves. The price and size is what will attract me to buying one
If you don't do a lot of cutting, especially big trees the 490 would be a safe bet as it is a good saw and is lighter weight. However if you can handle the weight and like to have that extra power when you need it, go with the 590. I love mine!
Once you get it started and turn it off make sure you are not choking it again as that will flood the engine and make it a bear to start. If you did flood it then hold the throttle wide open while pulling it over. Also make sure when you mix your gas that you are precise as with mixing. Good luck and hope this helped!
Had the same problem i found you must run it dry everytime, and a drop some oil into the spark plug hole for storage, these flood so easily and it washes out the rings no compression and it wont start, never use the decompression valve totally pointless if you cant pull it over you shouldnt own it. I live at high altitude without doing this stuff it floods very often.
@@JG1rn Will it start without choking it. Just bought one. Haven't used it yet. Once it fires with choke on.i tutn it off and it fires right up next pull

Right on brother! You will be happy with it!
Just went with the CS-590 over a 455. First day out in the woods was a good one. Looking forward to seeing how this saw performs going forward.
Great video Dan! That saw is an awesome saw. Plenty of power out of the box.
Thanks for the comment!
Since I only use my chainsaw about 4 times a year for no more than 4 hours at a time this saw is perfect for me. No need for professional saw.
Seems like the CS-590 is the most popular ECHO out there.

I hope you like it as much as I do! It has yet to let me down and has cut tons of trees up for me! Have fun!
Just ordered one today. Finally found one after 3 days searching. Everybody is sold out.
Wonderful energy. Great job. Learned a lot. Thanks.

Good video. It's a great saw.
Great video. I want to buy one not sure, maybe yes. I own a cs 310 and 400. For years no problem
Great video.
How much better is a twenty-inch bar over an 18" bar. I'm looking to buy a C.S. 590 but they are only in 18" where I live.

New subscriber..nice variety..echos impress me..my channel is mostly chainsaw and vintage axe stuff..great vid sir🤙🏻🤘🏻🪓
I have this saw and I am looking for 18" bar. In my area I have problem finding this.
I have a CS-590 on the way from Home Depot. What I want to know: where do I order hair like yours! 🧔
Do you know anything about the echoes that Home Depot sell?

Yeah buddy! Go cut some!

did you do the muffler mod ?
Nope haven't done that
I had Iowa Performance Saw's do muffler mod and retune on my CS5990 and it woke it up big Time. Well worth doing, made a huge difference
Hello! The side cover îs plastic? Thanks
If you are asking about the side bar cover, then yes it is plastic.
Pretty sure all newer saws have plastic bar sprocket covers. The plastic is extremely durable.
@@MrJonrocker OK. Thanks. Profesional chainsaws are made fom magnesium.

Don't ever choke it. Not even cold starting. And make sure the kill switch is on run before pulling. If not, instant flooding

here in germany its for 700$ LOL
