I'm a Greta Van Fleet fanboy and the Led Zeppelin sound is what first attracted me to the band. After listening to them for a while now, yes they do resemble LZ but they do have their own sound at the same time. I love the "old school" style and think they will do very well. In the mean time, do a reaction to GVF Black Smoke Rising and their new one When the Curtain Falls, both are very good. When the lead singer started getting volume from his voice, it seems that the Robert Plant resemblance came naturally and it's what created their "breakout" sound!

When I first listened, I heard Zep, Rush, and old school blues. I watched a few of their interviews followed by their album in full. It's fantastic. These guys are fresh AF. Their other stuff has hints of Adelle, Aretha Franklin, The Doors, Black Sabbath. They mash everything up. It's incredible. Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness, Brave New World, New Man... lots of really solid tracks of varying styles.

Pantera cemetery gates song reaction please y'all.
Normally I don't go on about why I request this song but today we're hurting in the metal community. The drummer from pantera passed away last night in his sleep suddenly, that's all we know at this point. But if y'all knew how we lost his brother Dimebag, the guitar player for pantera you'd know this is rough. At least for me and my group of friends it has been. So rest in peace Vinnie Paul, hopefully Dime was waiting for you to continue jamming.

People criticize these kids for sounding like Led Zeppellin when they should be praised for it. Firstly they have yet to put out their first studio album so with time they'll develop their own style and seperate themselves from other rock groups. Secondly in a world where people are listening to Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez and all that other radio crap these guys are actually bringing back real music. It's very refreshing and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish

James Murphy dammit I'm tired of this "there is no good music in rock right now" bullshit. Stop being lazy. There are hundreds of new bands out that are awesome. You just have to search it out. Corporate labels want to push the crap bieber stuff on us. There is a genre of rock out now called stoner rock that has hundreds of real rock bands. Check out Nebula, Colour Haze, Fu Manchu, Causa Sui, Kyuss, Sleep, Elder, Monster Magnet, Wellwater Conspiracy, Papir. Also underground Jazz and R&B bands are tearing it up. Go to small clubs. The music scene is as vibrant as it's ever been.

James (and interesting that you have the same name of a great Death Metal guitarist) - I agree with devilart, but I have to ask you what are you into? Just the "Rock" type newer bands, or all or most of Metal subgenres?
Please visit my Yt page, hopefully you'll find music and bands that you never heard of on my various "Themed" Playlists. I gave up on radio in 1997, and just found stuff on my own, or in Metal and Progressive Rock trade mags. And now finding more on UA-cam and word of mouth.
devilart; try SHeavy, Operator Generator, Ant-Depressive Delivery, Presto Ballet ("Peace Among the Ruins") and Spiritual Beggars, unless you know about them already :).

    • @xjimmy225x
      @xjimmy225x 6 років тому +8

Personally I listen to a lot of current music and it's true there are many good bands out there. The problem is I represent the minority and the bands I think are good aren't the ones being played on the radio nor are they the ones most younger people listen to. I think the root of the problem is that people today have never been taught how to listen to music. They hear music but they don't listen to it, and there's a big difference. I will often ask friends and people I work with, why to you listen to such trash lyrics? Their reply is almost always, the lyrics are funny or I don't actually listen to music for the lyrics, I just like the way it sounds. Which is absolutely ridiculous to me because a song is literally just a poem put to music. An artist is supposed to be creative and create something moving and inspirational. No different than a painter, which is why we call them artist in the first place. Unfortunately most "artist" (or at least the popular artist) nowadays are simply performers and its sad that people are growing up thinking that the crap they're listening to is art.
If Bob Dylan=Picasso then Beyonce's songs are my 5 year old nephews fridge drawings

I was going through the news of the death of Pantera's drummer, and this popped up on my notification bar. I can't deny I was happy when I saw it, but then a bit saddened by your reaction to it. I've been listening to Greta Van Fleet a lot these days. And I like them in spite of the fact that the vocalist sounds exactly like Robert Plant (Led Zep's vocalist). Anyway, what's more important is the fact that Vinnie Paul passed away yesterday. So I think, you guys should give another shot to Pantera. They are easily one of the most important metal bands. In the 90's when grunge and alternative rock were taking over, Pantera was spear-leading, amongst other bands, to keep metal alive. And they did so tremendously. It was "trendkill". They were truly the Cowboys From Hell. RIP Vinnie Paul. RIP Dimebag Darrell. Gone, but not forgotten.

One of my bands (Ded By Dezine) played a gig with them about 3 years ago. Great Musicians, Friendly kids, serious about the music, but they were a Zep Tribute band the night we shared the stage in Warren, MI that night. Guitars, hair, clothes, the whole shebang. I hope they Try to Sound more "Inspired" than "carbon-copied" in their future endeavors... but I'm glad they're even getting to have this much fun. I would've been Stoked to be recognized that young. Cheers.

These kids JAM!They write their own music and take their guitars to a new level which also appeals to their generation. I'm a die hard rock n roll fan, and these kids are spot on. I don't think they purposely want to sound like Led Zepplin. Actually they also have the sounds if Rush, AcDc and The Stones. We need to applaud them.

  • @HollowGolem

Greta van fleet is actually composed of 3 brothers and their friend. They're in their early 20s so I think they have time to grow. They do sound very similar to led zeppelin. But if you guys listen to their other songs they actually sound like some other 70s bands. They openly admit to being heavily influenced from that era. "Highway tune" is their "mainstream" song. Their other songs on the album are much deeper in comparison. Personally I like them. It's a throwback to some great bands and songs. Great video as always guys 👍

    They are:
Josh Kiszka - Lead Vocals (22 years old)
Jake Kiszka - Lead & Rhythm Guitars (also 22 and is Josh's identical twin brother!)
Sam Kiszka - Bass guitar and organ (19 years old and is the twins younger brother)
Danny Wagner - Drums ( also 19 and a long time friend of the Kiszka brothers)

They are really starting to grow on me. As a metalhead and someone who loves a lot of old rock bands , I definitely see potential in these guys. They’re actually not too much older than I am , I’m only 18. I think they’re really going to evolve over time and grow and I feel they have along way to go . I think they’re what we need in a way , they’re keeping rock n roll alive. Some of these new Alternative bands are soo talented but they haven’t really been noticed yet . I’ve even discovered a few myself and they are good , really good. They’re gonna do great things I know it. Rock is not dead 🖤🤘🏻🔥💀

Love what you guys do. Respect. These guys are knocking down the doors for rock bands like them. Since the early 90s since grunge hard rock and heavy metal bands haven't been treated seriously but this group is blowing up. This is what rockers like me and other rockers have been waiting for. There also paving the path for other classic hard rock n classic heavy metal bands to follow. I love Greta Van Fleet. The video for this song highway song has over 22 million views and they played Jimmy Fallon's Tonight show. They're loved by all generations and Led Zeppelin's singer Robert Plant loves them to. The band has said they don't intentionally mean to sound like Led Zeppelin. The singer guitarist and bassist are brothers and there parents had classic rock and blues music so they grew up on it and it's in there blood. The singer said when he started singing with them the band was so loud he just started singing over the guitar. If you whatch them on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight show doing When The Curtain Falls oh man the singer belts out alot of high notes. They do beautiful Sam Cooke song A Change is Going to Come which Otis Redding and Baby Huey did to. Edge of Darkness is a song about peace. Black Smoke Rising is about how everyone is divided today and he sings it with sadness he sings like he wishes everyone would come together no matter how much divide there is stand with your brothers and sisters of all races. They grew up on alot of music Led Zeppelin grew up on. I know if you guy saw them live you'd lose your minds it's like going back in time. There Led Zep reincarnated. I think they have some originality to them. I support them.

Hi guys! Thanks for another great and fair review! Love the reaction to a video! I love GVF, and bought their CD a couple of months ago.
I'm in NC, where they don't play a lot of great artists on our local stations. I listen to 105.5 WDHA out of NJ, which totally rocks... 🤘🏻 They even play Alter Bridge (my favorite band), which I've never heard played on an NC station.
They play a lot of lesser known songs from artists, and when I first heard Highway Tune, I thought it WAS an old Led Zeppelin song. The singer sounds exactly like Robert Plant, IMO. That's the main reason they sound so much like Led Zepplin. I was stunned to learn it was a new artist!
I like this song because it's got an uplifting beat and feeling to it. It makes you want to get up and dance. I love the entire album. They do an awesome cover of A Change is Gonna Come.
And again, I respectfully request that you react to Calm The Fire by Alter Bridge. I have no idea why it was written, but the words are so powerful and so indicative of today's society. You love Myles voice- this song really shows off his vocal range (and power). You love their guitars- Myles and Mark do not disappoint in this song.
Thanks for all you do, and keep up the good work!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
    ☮❤️🌎

GVF are great. They are identified as 70's rock inspired like Zeppelin, Joplin, The Who, etc... Feature their song Edge of Darkness because there's that Janis Joplin hook & feel to the song. The band... Josh Ziszka (singer) & Jake Ziszka (guitar) are twin brothers. Sam Ziszka (bass) is baby bro and Danny Wagner (drums) a neighborhood friend. They're from Frankenmuth, Michigan.

You have to go back to it consistently. Yes, it is very similar to Zeppelin style, but this has a youthful flair that sets it apart.
And lets be honest. You guys like some Zeppelin tunes, but by your own admission you don't really know Zeppelin's music. For us true Zeppelin fans (not to sound all hipster and crap lol), this new, fresh sound is exactly what we needed. It is exactly what rock needs. Finally, a young group, who captures that missing magical essence from 60's and 70's rock and roll.
I feel once you dive into them a bit more, you'll realize that you want more from them. We are truly witnessing something rare and magical. Lets rock!

This is why I love this channel so much; you guys can draw an unbiased opinion about a song, based on what little you've heard of a different band. I mean, for me as a huge Zeppelin fan, this band is great! But I can see the criticism all the same, as they are very VERY similar in style. No one wants a Led Zeppelin reunion and new material as much as this guy, but I've long accepted that won't happen and a new band that sounds similar is welcome to me. But there's only one mighty Zeppelin, same with the Beatles and other great, groundbreaking bands.
So glad I discovered this channel. You guys keep this stuff up! If I had to make a suggestion, though, I'd have to say I'm interested in a take on Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'd say "Saturday Night Special" would be a good place to start.
