Ever since I heard these guys and saw the criticism they get for sounding like Led Zeppelin; my thought was "Isn't this was most old school rockers wanted? The soul of classic rock with a modernized sound?" I absolutely dig it, and you guys are great!
I learned of the band during an interview with Robert Plant. He was amazed at how good and how young they were at the time. Funny thing is that the band claimed there were modeled more after Steven Tyler and Aerosmith. Plant jokingly groaned when informed of that fact.
I’m loving this band and their influences are who they are and it clearly shows through . These guys are refreshing and gives me hope that real music lives . I am a fan 100% ..!!!!

I do have to point out, Rush was called a knockoff of LZ aswell. GVF's older stuff was very very similar to LZ but they're really starting to come into their own. And plus it's hard to make rock n roll like it was from the 70s without it being heavy with influence.
They tried to compare early RUSH to LZ but not a knock off and I know what songs they are talking about. GVF sounds like LZ and Robert Plant on every song I've heard.
Josh the singer and his twin Jake (Guitarist) were around 19 when this was recorded. They wrote the song around 2012 when they were around 14/15 years old. I know you said something about someone being 12 but that would have been their younger brother Sam on Base. That was his age when he started in the band he would have been 15ish in this video. @Wulfy1978 Meeting the Master and Heat Above are my 2 favorite of theirs. And just to give you some context of my taste in Classic Rock, my favorite band is,was,and always will be Zep. I also love Van Halen, Rush, Ozzy, MetallicA, Aerosmith, Yes, Nugent, Seger, Fleetwood Mac, etc. 58 y.o. but I also listen to most genres. What I love about these kids (OMG, I sound so old when say kids) as much as they have the Zeppelin vibe, I feel they are their own unique band. I saw an interview with Robert Plant. The interviewer asked him what he thought of the new bands that were coming out in this generation. Robert Plant brought up Greta Van Fleet. He acknowledged how much they sounded a like and he absolutely LOVES them.

I was one of those who said they were a knock off of Led Zeppelin. It took me a few listens and even watching these guys and other UA-camrs help you see past the bands inspired sound. GVF is a wonderful band and they are such a loveable group. Easy listening and refreshing.
They were around 18 19 years old when this came out they have alot of good songs beyond talented he's not trying to copy Robert plant he just sounds alot like him the whole band is awesome credit to the other members all are brothers except the drummer

Robert Plant in an interview was asked if there were any new bands out there that he liked. Plant said there is a band out of Michigan called Greta Van Fleet. Thought they were good. That is how I heard of them. He said they are early Zeppelin 2.0. He said the singer’s voice sounds like my Zeppelin days, but the kid can’t help what his voice sounds like. He did not think Josh was trying to imitate him. He has his own style, but you can see the influence, just like Zeppelin had influence. He is glad to see blues driven hard rock in a new band today. But you should see how they dress and play on stage, it’s out of the late 1970s. He is bringing back “moma” to mean something other than his mom. Use of “sugar” the stutter-“M..m…m…my” and “my-my”-all very Plant-like. These guys weren’t born until long after Zeppelin had ended. I don’t think that’s imitation. It’s been 35+ years from Zeppelin’s end. 35+ years later is not imitation it is influence. Obviously they grew up on their parents music. But Zep is really only history before they were born…and so far they haven’t just ripped off word for word an old blues song and call it their own. Willie Dixon finally got his name credited on Whole Lotta Love. Zep’s Bring it On Home is nearly a word for word copy of an old Kansas City Blues Sonny Boy Williams song of the same name. Plant even “borrows” the over-the top vibrato Sonny put in at the beginning of the song. Rip-offs, imitators, influence. . . who is to say. That is just how 1970s blues based rock was like.
THEY ARE AWESOME.... the comparison to Robert Plant is legit, but it is Josh’s voice doing the work. Listen to all their work. Except for the drummer, the bass., singer, and guitar, are brothers. I hope to see you review a few more if their songs.
Frankenmuth, MI: 3 brothers. Youngest asks his dad if he could take him to band practice. Father says yes, but they had to drop off firewood over to Gretna Van Fleet's house. Then they dropped the 'n' in 'Gretna' and proceeded.
Haha, how it al began!! I actually went to Frankenmuth without even knowing they were from there. Now I get to see them February 25th in Vegas!!! Stoked.

I discovered this band some months ago, I am totally obsessed with these guys . I bought their album (2019 winner as the best rock album) they have a great talent for writing songs ;also they name people like Jack Bruce , Eric Clapton (Cream) CSNY as major influences; unfortunately they get a lot of hate calling them a mere Led Zep cover band which is not true...anyway their sophomore album will be released this month...and its AMAZING !!!!!!!! a more sophisticaded sound with some Rush Pink Floyd ,Led Zep influences ...I am counting the days for it

Actually they were in their late teens. For those who criticize them from sounding like Led Zeppelin, Robert was asked during an interview which new bands he liked, without hesitation he said Greta Van Fleet. They’re from Michigan. You can also hear influences from Aerosmith, Guns ‘n Roses, etc. They’re touring with Metallica. They’ve also won Grammys.

I love that my kids have a band that’s as good as my favorites and no doubt these guys and this voice is gonna make history. They’re growing into their own quickly and the more you listen the more you hear him rather than plant. Sure he sounds like him, just like him. But we got plant for a few years and done. It’s my kid’s turn to take it and grow it.
Greta Van Fleet is just awesome. Of course they sound like Led Zeppelin but it comes from a place of pure respect. All these guys grew listening to classic rock and that's the direction they decided to go. I, for one, support that wholeheartedly!

The first time I heard GVF, it was on a classic rock radio station and I seriously thought I was listening to LZ basement tapes or something. Do a deep dive, listening to all the interviews they gave as they were breaking out, and you'll be blown away.
Hes now 25...and he sounds like Joshua Michael Kiszka and noone else.The lead guitar is his identical twin Jake and the bass is his younger brother Sammy. The drums is a best friend Danny.

That kid is just singing to his strengths in his register. No doubt Zeppelin is an influence but as you dive into them, you'll notice immediately a maturation of their sound. In a very good way. Their still just now passing 20 years old. Their perfecting Their craft. At 66 YO, BRING THAT SHIT GVF!

Agreed I’ve heard Rush too and in a few songs I’ve even heard Chris Robinson from the black crowes. All music is inspired from other music

3 brothers. Youngest asks his dad if he could take him to band practice. Father says yes, but they had to drop off firewood over to Gretna Van Fleet's house.
Then they dropped the 'n' in 'Gretna' and proceeded.
Haha, how it al began!! I actually went to Frankenmuth without even knowing they were from there. Now I get to see them February 25th in Vegas!!! Stoked.
Yeah, imagine my reaction just hearing them a month ago. Who the hell are these guys? I know now, they’ve been my playlist since. They emit love, the mystery of life. Their music is phenomenal. Their lyrics perfection.

Gotta be honest, watching you experience them for the first time makes me soooo proud for some reason. Like, I've been a Zep fan my whole life, and I'm blown away by this band. To see you express such overwhelming appreciation in the first half put me in a good mood. Keep killin' it, man!

my buddy showed me GVF awhile back and i was genuinely shocked. i thought "this has to be some lost Zepplin club set from like 1974 or something". these kids are proof of time travelers.

I "discovered them in December of 2018 and followed them from unknowns to their first performance on Jimmy Fallon to SNL to finally being able to see them live in Grand Rapids, Michigan last March. I discovered this band some months ago, I am totally obsessed with these guys . I bought their album (2019 winner as the best rock album) they have a great talent for writing songs ;also they name people like Jack Bruce , Eric Clapton (Cream) CSNY as major influences; unfortunately they get a lot of hate calling them a mere Led Zep cover band which is not true...anyway their sophomore album will be released this month...and its AMAZING !!!!!!!! a more sophisticaded sound with some Rush Pink Floyd ,Led Zep influences ...I am counting the days for it

Actually they were in their late teens. For those who criticize them from sounding like Led Zeppelin, Robert was asked during an interview which new bands he liked, without hesitation he said Greta Van Fleet. They’re from Michigan. You can also hear influences from Aerosmith, Guns ‘n Roses, etc. They’re touring with Metallica. They’ve also won Grammys.
I actually saw them on tour with Metallica in Vegas. I’m also seeing them in Anaheim, CA in November. Check out my other reactions of GVF. Been a while since this one.

I love that my kids have a band that’s as good as my favorites and no doubt these guys and this voice is gonna make history. They’re growing into their own quickly and the more you listen the more you hear him rather than plant. Sure he sounds like him, just like him. But we got plant for a few years and done. It’s my kid’s turn to take it and grow it.

Greta Van Fleet is just awesome. Of course they sound like Led Zeppelin but it comes from a place of pure respect. All these guys grew listening to classic rock and that's the direction they decided to go. I, for one, support that wholeheartedly!

In this video the singer is josh and the 2 guys on base are his brothers and the drummer is they’re best friend!!! But the singer and the base are twins and in this video the we’re 16 years old the other brother was 17 and the drummer was 18

The first time I heard GVF, it was on a classic rock radio station and I seriously thought I was listening to LZ basement tapes or something. Do a deep dive, listening to all the interviews they gave as they were breaking out, and you'll be blown away.
Hes now 25...and he sounds like Joshua Michael Kiszka and noone else.The lead guitar is his identical twin Jake and the bass is his younger brother Sammy. The drums is a best friend Danny.

One of this singers biggest influences is Aretha Franklin. Seriously. His voice is ALL HIS though and he deserves props and praise for fine ruining his gift. It’s a fucking GIFT!

That kid is just singing to his strengths in his register. No doubt Zeppelin is an influence but as you dive into them, you'll notice immediately a maturation of their sound. In a very good way. Their still just now passing 20 years old. Their perfecting Their craft. At 66 YO, BRING THAT SHIT GVF!
