1967 C10 Tear Down: A Mission Impossible?

- Is it possible for two complete morons to part out an entire 1967 Chevy C10 in 6 hours? I would say the chances are slim, but who knows! I'm not a big fan of parting a decent truck out, but sometimes letting one go can save several more. See if we make it!

Another great video. Sorry to hear about your hand. I did enjoy seeing the coveralls. It reminded me of my old days of being a mechanic with my grandpa.
Tip of the day: don’t touch torched metal! You can’t beat a pair of coveralls on demo day! My gramps always wore them too!
My brother needs that drivers door trim
I just sold them at the swap meet this last weekend.
Man those doors were stuck!
I’m pretty sure I opened them wrong! The torch was next!
Well THAT was fun! I'm currently on the 4th or 5th (or 20th) can of penetrating oil on the k5... I DO feel yer pain there! Speaking of pain, dang those torches.... those parts stay hot forever! Hope you heal quickly, brother! Fun video! A+++++
Thanks Doc! That was a lot of fun! I hate seeing one die, but several will live with these parts. My memory is too short. I knew we had just cut it, but went to put myself up and then couldn’t let go of it! One of those life learning lessons.
Yep, for sure!!!@@C10TruckNerd
Great video, Chad.
Thank you! That was a lot of fun! I hate seeing one die, but we salvaged a lot of good parts that have already gone to new homes.
Hey Chad thanks for all the great videos! A 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF works unbelievably well to free rusted nuts and bolts. Tried it when I rebuilt my ‘68 and couldn’t believe some of the nuts that came loose.
I appreciate the tip! I will definitely give that a try.
Chad , I am restoring my 67 and I have spend hours on the front aftermarket chrome trim) with all the clips( I broke a bunch of them) had to order more and just trying to get everything lined up properly. until this video I guess I never noticed that the trim could have come painted painted white. I would guess on a base model truck??? There is always something to be learned thank you for making these videos Pete
Thanks for the support Pete! Yep, mainly lower end trucks had painted hoops and head light bezels. I can’t find that they make painted repops only bright work.
Any chance you can do a video on the different mirrors offered throughout the years? Thanks
That is a good idea! I’ll get it added to the list. That might be an expensive video trying to track them down.
The last time was not a good car right
I never have a good car or truck! One day I’ll buy something that runs!
Chad great videos. Recently replaced 71 c10 wiper/washer motor. You explained the pain in the back side well. And yes after 20 min. of aggravation, figured out the arm removal tool!! Thanks for the help.
That’s good to hear! I’m always glad to help the next guy. Especially one with a 71!
What is different on the steering colomn
There is a small hole in front of the hazard switch. I have no clue why it’s there. It’s not in the other years.
Do you know the paint code for that blue?
GM 507 light blue
That's why I own a Cutting Torch and multiple air tools. And a big mechanic box
I definitely have a torch on my shopping list!
One more on the list chad ! 😁👍
I would like to say “one down”, but I think I already replaced it with two!
Does that have heater control in tact and radio also you want to sell
One of the pot metal arms are broken but the rest is in good shape. I have no clue if the radio works or not. You can email me or FB message me and I can get you some pics.
How much for the front 2wd clip and rear trailing arms?
Some of the parts were spoken for before we started. I’ve only got a fender and arms left.
@@C10TruckNerd Which arms? front? Rear?
@@AbstractDreamz trailing, but I have a bunch of fronts as well.
Did those frame pieces go to the scrap yard yet? I could use a piece off of the rear coil spring section
I kept them for another project.
Good one. The grill looks like it still could be usable. Can't believe the amount of doors that have speaker holes. Most look like they were done with a hatchet. Was that a-arm really held on by bailing wire. Usually these finds are loaded with rat nests and yellow jacket nests. My kind of stuff. Even the bad stuff is getting harder to come up with. Don't have to tell you but I'm going to, be careful of those none titled trucks. Was buying one with no title and was getting inspected by law enforcement and turned up stolen, After a couple of hours of interrogation they either believed me or had sympathy because I'm an old guy, they let me walk. They impounded the truck.
How can I get a price on the grill from you?
It’s wild how many doors have had speakers hole cut into them! That lower control arm was only wired up! I was impressed we got it on a trailer and into the shop without it giving. If I’m buying a truck to keep, I do all my homework if it doesn’t have a title. If it’s a parts truck, I’m not as worried. The grille on this one was excellent. It was spoken for before we blew the truck apart. I can’t believe what they cost now!
I need a 67 steering wheel/column. Where are you guys listing items?
You can email me or message me on FB or Instagram.
Do you still have the air cleaner ?, if so , how much ?
I’ve only got the lid left.
price for rear bumper and mounting brackets? motor?
We sold or scrapped almost everything already. Those 67 parts are hot right now.
you never got back with me about the beer window for 67 your buddy had.....@@C10TruckNerd
I got a question... I've had my 1968 c10 shortwide fleetside pick up since I was 8 yrs old I am now 38 yrs old and I swapped cabs and now I don't have a matching title what should I do.. I do not have new cab title
Whats the easy best way to do this.. just find a new cab with title?
That’s awesome you’ve had it that long! It depends on your state you’re in and what your registration laws are. Here in Kansas, you can apply for a new title for a truck with different numbers. The downfall is it won’t be an antique anymore. They will actually remove the original vin plate and assign a new number on a sticker. It does kill the value. Another option is swapping the vin plate for restoration if your state allows it. I know folks do it without approval, but I can’t recommend that:) you could also find another truck or cab with a title and do the cab swap and use the title from the cab as yours. I hope that made sense.
😂
We’re idiots!
@ItsTheChad71 I know that's for a fact not the case. I've seen your videos. 🙃🙂
