Brian mentioning Solomon Burke was hilarious. Just wished Dark Side of the Ring would've interviewed more wrestlers who worked with Abdullah. Not the Regulars. Like it would have been cool to have seen Tommy Wildfire Rich interviewed on his run with The Butcher
My favorite Mr. A. Butcher story involves his passive aftermath. In a post-match interview with Dusty Rhodes, the girl gets a look on her face and motions to Dusty’s arm. Dusty looks over and pulls a dinner fork out of his shoulder that Abby had forcefully injected. Then, The American Dream finished the interview. Wrestling was different back then.
Abdullah legit scared me as a kid lol. He was like a tornado that would come through destroy some people and then leave before you got used to him. The fact he never spoke made him even scarier!
Just to explain how they were able to establish that the disease most likely came from Abdullah. It's an exceptionally rare strain and the genetic markers match. They will also contact trace to see if there is anyone in his life that has it and would have received it before the Abdullah match. It was more than enough evidence for two different courts to determine that hes more likely liable than not.
Yes of course and what people don’t know about blood-borne diseases is that a clinic can actually test and tell you if you’re the carrier or if you received it or not by that it just pisses me off that people are trying to baby face Abdullah and ask that question when they simply don’t know what they’re talking about like you do

The show is titled "the Dark Side of the Ring".... the whole basis for the show is about the dark moments in wrestling history more than a straight-up biography. The whole Hep-C story fits the bill. As much as I despise the guy, Hannibal IS that story.
Also, it's weird Cornette doesn't recognize the problem with what Butcher did; Abby cut himself, then cut Hannibal with the same blade. If I'm a mark booking Abby, I expect him to jab a fork in my head. And if I'm going to let him blade me, I'd assume he wasn't going to share the blade.
@@nicup1737 Using the same blade presents a greater risk of passing a blood-borne pathogen than bleeding all over each other. When Abby cut his own forehead and then cut Hannibal, Abby's blood was introduced directly into Hannibal's under the skin.
@@VirgilZandigdon’t really feel bad for Hannibal. Whether Abdullah used the same blade/fork or not, Hannibal knew they were both gonna be bleeding. Abdullah the Butcher never wrestled for the WWWF or WWF/WWE. His only direct involvement was his induction in the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame. Although WWWF and WWF/WWE showed wrestlers bleed, Dark Side of the Ring (I'm forgetting who said it) documentary revealed that Abdullah the Butcher couldn't even control himself from making others bleed. I could see Abdullah being a good fit for the WWF in the 80's. At that time Hogan was defeating huge monsters, Andre the giant, King Kong Bundy.... Abby would have been a perfect big monster for Hogan to take down. I can totally see the crowd going wild the moment Hogan body slams the Butcher.
The WWF did a test run with him in 1985 at two shows that were co-promoted between the WWF and IW in Quebec. One match saw Abdullah team up with Jos LeDuc against the Rougeaus and the other was a singles bout against Jacques Rougeau. Vince was definitely concerned that he wouldn't follow orders or start to blade.
Someone from a different interview put it in layman's terms. You get Abdullah light, where the blood being shed isn't all over the place or on people, or you get Abdullah hardcore, which looks like a slaughterhouse scene where the red flows like a river. Considering McMahon wanted his product around kids, bringing him in would kill his image, and Abdullah has been shown to either ignore or disregard what the promoters tell him to do, and that's something Vince would never put up with if someone went against his wishes in the ring.

Dark Side caters to the mouth breathers who Save With Conrad.
Yes of course and what people don’t know about blood-borne diseases is that a clinic can actually test and tell you if you’re the carrier or if you received it or not by that it just pisses me off that people are trying to baby face Abdullah and ask that question when they simply don’t know what they’re talking about like you do
The jim and Brian bloodhunter video is my favorite this is close but the one about Devon making the ref bleed is hilarious. I can't get enough of jim and Brian bashing Devon 😂
That’s what I was waiting for! Brian doing the Hannibal voice! That’s gold Jerry!😂
Dark Side of the Drive Thru. The new name for the Dark Side reviews on the channel. Hope they do another season.
When i was watching it Tuesday night i already knew Jim was gonna make a crack on Abdullahs brothers voice. "Mayor of Munchkinland" 😂😂
When I was a kid in the early '90s, I had a poster of Abdullah The Butcher wearing the hood and an axe in his hand up on my wall. I took it down in a couple days. 8-year-old-me was legit scared of that photo.
"while I eat my crayons." that killed me!
"I saw him order a hamburger, with a side order of fries!" Buwhahaha
Brian's imitation of Hannibal is comedy gold.
Not so funny seeing he tried to kill himself.
Before I watch even a second of this I just want to say I have been waiting for this and cannot wait to hear Bryan Lasts impression of Hannibal.
Brian's Devin impersonation is spot on. 😂😂😂
Brian I know this would be too much of a strain on you but I'd pay a premium to hear you do a one man show of Moxley and Hannibal. 😆
Will Brian blade during this show?
@@LoganSewell83 Yes, but only on camera after it takes him 10 minutes to get inside the building.
Cornie will bring the skewers for The Mox.
@@LoganSewell83 Moxley will. Whether he listens to that show or not.
Or just do the voices all the time i was actually crying from laughing at this segment..Bloood Hunter voice is classic..Hannibal is a walking Gimmick and worlds biggest Mark all smashed into 1 dusche bag.Bllooood Hunnnnter muhhahaha
The show is titled "the Dark Side of the Ring".... the whole basis for the show is about the dark moments in wrestling history more than a straight-up biography. The whole Hep-C story fits the bill. As much as I despise the guy, Hannibal IS that story.
Yeah but that's far from the only f'd up thing he's ever done.
@@VirgilZandig Even if they didnt share the blade he could have contracted Hepatitis. They were bleeding all over each other.
It’s on him to take precautions with the guy who has bladed every day for the last 50 years. You gotta assume Abby has Hep-C and set some guidelines or take precautions to protect yourself….or just don’t fucking do it. Undertaker was rightfully pissed at Bob Orton. But you gotta assume Abby has it.
The short bus Eddie Mansfield comment had me cackling in the lunchroom at my work. Thank you for that Jim I needed a laugh today.
Brian and James are THE dynamic duo of comedic takes on good fucking wrestling.
Brian's Hannibal impersonation is on point...
Not taking anything away from Brian, but it's a very easy voice to impersonate, insert slurring retard voice lmao
Not really, dude is not funny and is annoying
Hannibal is a turd...would be perfect for AEW
“Short bus Eddie Mansfield “. Oh man… lmao.
Brian's impression of Hannibal is hysterical!!
He's good at impressions. Unfortunately, he doesn't know when to stop.

Uuhhh Jon Moxley turns me ooonnn.. Look at all the bloooooooooood... Uuhh

Dark Side should have gone to Corny for research on that episode. They should do it on every episode.
Why? That wasn't the story they were trying to tell
29:18 loved the slow build on Brian's laugh.
brians hannibal impression cracks me up every time
Brian needs to have a Moxley vs Hannibal blood debate.
*The anti-AEW smark douchebags have easily been proven wrong purely by the incredible success of AEW hitherto.*
Abdullah did work for WWWF in the 70s. A brief clip of his time there was even used in his HOF video
I think it was Pittsburgh
You are correct, sometimes with the ol' Grand Wizard as his handler.
Wikipedia claims that he only did a few matches with WWWF in '72. Not stating that as an actual fact.
The HOF video, no WWWF footage. It was all a combination of WCW, Mid Atlantic (Crockett), Georgia, World Class in Dallas, Japan, and the oldest stuff (70's) was CWF in Florida.
@@lonardgetchell-bm9lc did you put it there, because it wasn't there yesterday
Abdullah's House of Ribs and Chinese Food was the first place I ever would go when flying into Atlanta (and that was a lot due to the military). Great wrestling tributes and memorabilia adorned the place. I got to meet Abby in 2014 and bought a CD and a autographed fork. He was fun to talk with, very polite and so not the character I grew up watching.
Hannibal voice: I read on Wikipeeeeediaaaa...
Abby said he couldn't read and Mick Foley said, "he didn't have a problem reading a menu..." I thought it was an okay episode. Kinda felt sorry for him towards the end...
Illiterate people learn to get by. My great uncle was illiterate ,but got a driver license, could recognize a lot on a menu from repetition. I remember once ever him asking his wife for help, once we went with them to a fancier style restaurant.
@@TheSaltySeaman I think he meant he couldn't read well. But he probably could read and write his name. Also, he probably knew numbers well. So it's hard to determine how bad it was. And I'm sure he had a lawyer who helped him with paperwork...
@@brandoni241Canada has one of the best school systems in the whole world and fat boy there couldn't read well? I've been reading long books ever since I was in first grade. To say that is embarrassing is an understatement

@@GraveMemories you have to understand the time period he went to school. 65 years ago, poor people weren't well educated because they had to work at earlier ages. I don't know much about Canada's education system then, but in the US, education for the poorer population was terrible. It's one of the things that came out of voting laws of having to be able to read. Turns out half the population in the south couldn't read. It exposed a huge disparity in education...
This episode was hilarious
Brians version of Hannibal was spot on
Brian’s Hannibal impression is on bar with his Moxley impression lol
From 19:00 to 19:15 has to be one of the best impersonations I've ever heard!
glad Abdullah is still here to be seen and say something, a legend.
Amazing to me he's made it to his 80s. With his physique, and style of wrestling, with the average age of pro wrestlers being what it is, is truly remarkable. Living legend indeed
When Brian said, “On the side!!!”, I lost it!!!!🤣🤣🤣
As much as I dont love Dark Side,I feel like Jim and Brian want it to be minute by minute comprehensive biography of a guy’s in-ring career when thats not their objective. They’re exploiting the worst moment/period of a guy’s life and his in-ring is just the back drop or set up to it. I feel like y’all expect too much from this
I figure cramming a 50 plus year career can't be easy to condense into 45 minutes.
Great point.
Yeah
29:15 Jesus Christ, Jim! You killed him! 😂
I was shocked to see that he got away with it on a talk show.
Brian's Hannibal impression is incredible! 🤣🍴
Cool. Now I don’t have to watch the Hannibal episode of Dark Side of the Ring
Lmaooo
True 😂. I’ve watched most episodes, but some just don’t interest me or are the wrong kind of dark. Like too fucking dark or so embarrassing you have to watch in the dark and hope nobody finds out.
I think the bank addicted drug robber episode is the dumbest thing i had ever watch.
I skipped it too, man.
found the episode on youtube the other day, had to turn it off after hannibal finished his first sentence not a couple minutes in.
I can't get enough of Brian's Hannibal impersonation!
didn't care for this episode of dark side, but just wanting to say this podcast is so great. y'all provide a service for all of us. cheers.
hannibal is sitting on the toilet teary eyed listening to this right now.
For someone in their 80's, damn he looks good. There's some people who couldn't read or write who became famous, one Dexter Manley Washinton Redskins.
Brian's impersonation of Slow Devon is fantastic 😂
I was lucky enough to be booked on the same tour in AJ with Butcher. He was OVER. Made so much money on gimmick forks. Always had a wad of cash. Super nice to me too (after our match) - and I’ve been tested many times since. Clean.
His brother with the Hogan stache stole the show
Auto tune ha
I imagine if he'd have stuck a fork in Bruno's head in MSG during the WWWF days, we'd be listening to a totally different Dark Side Of The Ring about the time Abdullah The Butcher got beaten to death by rioting fans😂
I suspect the moment Hannibal first appeared on screen, a Guinness World Record was set for the number of people saying “uuuuugh Blood Hunter” or something similar at the same time, in the voice of Brian. (EDIT - I Completely lost it at 19:00)
30:40 Brian Last is FUCKING GOLD!!!
omg, LMAO at the "Vanity Press" finisher jokes
I used to do creative work for Hannibal (scoring music intros, naming 3 of his shows, writing a few promos for him and other stuff, I asked for 5 more dollars and he buried me and blocked me. lol. the most creative thing he did was the year i worked for him. and he ruined it and I don't take shit from people. also, I had about a 8 bands to do a great north wrestling soundtrack compilation and the idiot was too stupid to just let it happen...he said the bands weren't famous enough...seeing as how there was 0 budget for it, what does he think he kan get? sorry for the misspellings....my keypad on this particular thing is missing letters on it. ...oh well...the only thing he was interested in was how he looked in front of a camera. so i would say around 30 ideas i made, 20 graphics included animated gifs too, and placing a soundtrack of music to promote his shit promotion gnw (i wanted to make the soundtrack look like the wrestling soundtracks of the late 90s and early 00s.
so i compiled the amount of hours i worked for Hannibal monthly, that including audio music bumpers and intros to his posts on UA-cam, and also new graphics, gifs and logos, he used all of them...i named some of his shows he paid to make, some had creative names like gnw annihilation, i also wrote a promo almost word for word that he cut on Kody Rhodes open invitational years ago...there was also other things that i kant name off hand that i did for him as well, I never met him in person but i know one thing he would turn into a melted kunt in front of me. anyways...i tried my best as a pure wrestling fan to at least get him in the right direction, some people just are content on the short bus.
LMAO Hannibal is Short Bus Eddie Mansfield 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorite Hannibal moment is when Lenny Poffo slap the shit out of him. Classic 😂
RIP Leaping Lanny Poffo. Legend.
WHEN HE DIED !! Really, This is Dark Side of the Drive-Thru

Gotta Love Brian Last
I could see Abdullah being a good fit for the WWF in the 80's. At that time Hogan was defeating huge monsters, Andre the giant, King Kong Bundy.... Abby would have been a perfect big monster for Hogan to take down. I can totally see the crowd going wild the moment Hogan body slams the Butcher.
The point was raised in the episode that McMahon possibly couldn't trust Abdullah to do what he was told so that's why he was never brought in
The WWF did a test run with him in 1985 at two shows that were co-promoted between the WWF and IW in Quebec.
@@EE-md2lrVince brought in 'The Bushwackers'.
When they were the 'New Zealand Sheepherders' at the end of some of their matches you couldn't tell which 'brother' was which as they were drenched in blood.
Abdullah did the right thing not joining the WWF. can you imagine being like a fucking ; pg wrestler. sorta like George the animal Steele? or worse the sheepherders ; when they turned them into damn ; cartoon characters. that would suck dude
"I called leapfrog. He cut me." One of Brian's funniest lines ever! lol

My uncle had his own contracting business. He built houses for decades and employed many people. He was FANTASTIC at math but if he had to read or write anything more complicated than signing his name on contracts and checks, he was lost.
Illiteracy is not acceptable, nor has it ever been acceptable

@@GraveMemoriesThat's a bit harsh man. Some people grow up in a bad environment or in circumstances where they have no one to teach them. Maybe on the streets or extreme poverty or they came from another country. A kid can't always teach themself. Reading can take a backseat if you have to spend your day just trying to feed yourself and survive. Grow up that way and it can be hard to ask for help reading. It becomes a stigma and it can become this secret shame where they fear people finding out. My first semester of college I had a guy in my class from Kenya who could barely read. It was crazy the school new it but they just thought they could teach him to read while teaching him classwork at the same time. I found out in like the 3rd class we were in and was just amazed. You could tell he was really struggling but trying his ass off. I brought him to my psych professor and between the 2 of us we basically spent a few hours a day teaching him. He definitely wasn't someone with a 62iq. He was just put in a bad position. Dude is one smart hard working Mf. You shouldn't shame someone who can't read you help them.

@@GraveMemories With all due respect to Your Holiness, he made the decision to devote any spare time he had to his family after working 12+ hours a day building a business for his sons and granddaughter to inherit (still successful 17 years after his death). I doubt he'd be at all concerned about the self-appointed enlightenment of others who would judge his choices in life as unacceptable.
@@GraveMemoriesmillions of people were refused education; hell, educational disenfranchisement is still an issue in many communities. Despite that, people have gone on to be extremely successful, and I doubt they’d stop to give a damn about your definition of “acceptability.” The world and its functioning is bigger than your personal pocket reality.
Grave Memories
Damn dude, 62 IQ?? That other guy’s relative isn’t Eric or Don Jr.
Abdullah scared me as a child watching Big Time Wrestling. He sold the savage angle like no other.
In The Butcher's defense, he was born in an era when schooling was not emphasised or required for the public at large, so yes it is feasible he dropped out of school early. He seems like a nice guy, he really wanted to take care of his family and did so, he just fell victim to people like Hannibal.
Abby wasn't a nice guy. There's tons of stories of him screwing people out of money, it's just compared to Hannibal he's somehow the lesser of the two evils.
Brian's Hannibal voice never fails to crack me up
I know that Jim and (especially) Brian hate Hannibal, and a lot of that hatred is justified to be fair, but I REALLY think that this hatred of Hannibal is clouding their judgement of Abdullah.
Abdullah is NOT a good person. I don’t care if you hate Hannibal, remove Hannibal from the equation and it STILL does NOT change the fact that Abdullah was knowingly and willingly bleeding on others when he had Hep C. And that whole “I can’t read” nonsense is pathetic and I think it’s disgusting for Abdullah to be such a carny about human health. When Mick Foley, THE nicest man in wrestling, says you’re full of it, then you are indeed full of it.
Abdulluah is not a good person. But to be totally honest with you, when the guy who got hurt was as big a piece of shit as hannibal, then its not so bad. It doesnt mean abby is a good person, but i also dont give a shit that the person who paid the price was an even bigger piece of shit.
And to add to what you're saying, I've heard other names of wrestlers of Abby's time that have Hepatitis and they all had blood matches with Abdullah. Abdullah wrestled til recent years and was doing that he may have given countless guys Hep C.
@@willmarkley4237 damn that would suck if it was more than just slow devon. Hes trash too
