This is great! I've got these calipers on my Street Triple R. I'll be giving them a quick service over the coming weeks. Your videos show me what I need to do if I decide on new seals and pistons. Very well presented, I like your style - quiet and informative.

Hi @Edutainment, I want to do this upgrade. The only thing unclear to me is which model year(s) Daytona should the pistons be from? Can it be the first 675? Thanks in advance! Btw I really liked the video, great detail! Greets from 🇳🇱

Hi Sander 🇳🇱the Daytona 675 came out in 2006, and believe these has the coated
pistons straight away. The Dayton did upgrade to monoblocks later (nissin and brembo) and I expect these pistons are different, so look for the gold Nissins. Part number is T2020465, this is now the recommended part for Speedies and these supercede some older pistons .
Unfortunately, unless you see them inside the packet its very hard to tell exactly what it is, So if possible would go by part.

Hi mate do you know if the 2007 brakes were upgraded?

Hi Jeremy, I cannot say for sure as most dealers now list this new part number (T2020465) as the replacement for all Nissin calipered Speedies as well as Daytonas, until they replaced with Brembos in 2008. As the Daytona with Nissins wasn't out til 2009, my instinct says no, but as mine is one of the earliest its possible they solved this issue mid run... Let me know if you find out for sure!

Apparently, the late 2006 onwards 1050's received the upgraded coated pistons at the factory. My 2005 bike had the original 'sticky' pistons and were a sort of gold colour. My 2007 bike had the upgraded pistons fitted from new and were a titanium colour.
I've just fitted a Radial master cylinder to my 2007 bike (from a face lift 2009 Brembo model 1050) and the lever has never felt so good. The brake line is a bit of a stretch but it will fit if slightly re-routed, and the brake lever is different for the Radial MC - but other than that its a plug and play.

Great info, thanks Tiger, can confirm the ones I removed were gold, looks like it's a valuable job for most 2005/2006 Speedies.
