      Hello, its 3-3.5L of oil needed, but I would only use this as a rough guide for purchasing bottles, and do it by the dipstick, easy to top up but a pain to remove if you overfill!

    So i have a 1050 triple 2006 and it was in garage for the winter. Now I tried to start, I can see my head lights turning on and speedometer turns on but the electric start doesn't start. What is the issue and how to charge the battery I have in the bike. I don't have any fancy instruments like multimeter or that optimate and don't want to spend any money on those. i just want to ride and keep my battery charged.

    Be interested to know what people's experience is with the 1050 reliability? Chum of mine bought an (used) ST with the 1050 lump - sprag clutch died quite quickly after buying. So it seems Triumph hadn't sorted out the sprag problem the 955 engine was known for; there's a vid on this platform showing how to do it without splitting the cases...

    • @kwakkers68
      @kwakkers68 8 місяців тому

      Wonder if Triumph were using up the old stock they had from the 955, in some of the 1050 units (save brass?). Looking up the parts numbers could shed some light. Wouldn't necessarily put me off buying one - these are great looking, pretty quick bikes, I just think it's a shame Triumph weren't on top of this, once they knew there was a problem with the part. It would have been much better PR, of they'd re-designed the part and done a recall. Optimate/strong battery - goes a long way to avoiding. But it should have been dealt with properly. Can't have been nice for buyers, when these models were still strong money, if theirs broke

    Nice video on how to change oil in an oiled air compressor! I didn't know that the small round oil level window was also the air compressor's drain plug as well. Although air compressors are nothing more than fancy air pumps, there is no reason why air compressor oil should not last easily 5~8 years between oil changes. As well, one can also use 5W30 or 10W30 synthetic engine oil as well as engine oils are much better engineered and designed at absorbing microscopic particles, moisture, and contaminants as there are no oil filters in an air compressor engine. Air compressor manufacturers should have designed their oiled air compressors with a small oil filter to help filter the air compressor's oil. At least this would make oiled air compressor oil changes a necessity every few years. It's not a big deal though since most oil air compressors are stationary workshop tools and are also set up in a clean shop environments. Here's the link to a company that actually build's air compressors and they too suggest using synthetic motor oil in their air compressors: www.ceccato.com/en-international/updates/what-is-the-oil-for-air-compressor

      No this won't affect that, its routine maintenance to keep drivetrain reliable. To adjust seat height (unless can find a less padded seat) generally you would have to adjust suspension, but need caution as changing the geometry affects handling and potentially safety.

    Nice brake upgrade series! I own a 2006 one. I’ve had sticky brakes in the past and replaces the piston seals. The pistons themselves looked in good shape. But I do have to clean the pistons every year. I’m curious, with the front wheel of the ground, how many spins does it get? Before my piston seal change it would stop instantly, you could also hear and feel it dragging on the disc. Now it’s much better, you can still hear it dragging, but it feels more freely. I am curious because I’m wondering if the piston upgrade would be an option for me. Anyway, thanks for the informative videos and keep up the good work!

      Hi Terry, I can sometimes hear my front brakes rub a little even with new pistons, especially if its not been ridden in a while and there is a bit of corrosion, but they got better once bedded in. Mine don't get hot when just riding on the flat so I don't worry - a new master cylinder might help to retract them more maybe; personally if happy with performance and no heating issues I would just ride them 👍 Cheers, Ed
