Thank you so very much.ive been doing the procrastination thing here on a project building a bench seat..your video just helped me get on my way with this bench..I had no clue until watching your easy explanation on how to do it the right way..I'm excited to get started now..today.xxxn thanks!
Great advice! Very helpful...Thanks! I was in the middle of working on the same project but so frustrated with the corners. You had a clear technique to get a uniform result. The only thing I’d say is that half the video is off-centered and difficult to make out. The darkness of the material without great lighting didn’t help either. Thanks for zooming in and trying to correct that halfway through. Good job!
Me and my wife are going tomorrow morning to pick up materials.. Way cheaper to DIY thank you for the vid.. This will give us something to do together.. She can apolster and I'll sand and stain...
Shaun, that sounds like a plan. I love recovering my own stuff. Glad you enjoyed the video. It's great that you two are doing this together. Teamwork!!!
@@mywithallmyart I just completed my chair today, the seat cushion is thicker than the one in your video, the two back corners were really giving me trouble but I came back and watched your video a couple times and I finally got them looking nice...Thanks again for your help! The chair looks awesome 🙂
Old time bag maker here :). Really enjoyed your video and the bag is very cute. I want to know how you made that lovely little pincushion. I've never made one and that one looks like a wonderful way to use small leftover project fabrics! Is it filled with batting, walnut shells? Video idea? Anyway - thank you for the helpful video . .a couple years later :)
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, even now!!! I did not make that pincushion, but isn't it cute! I probably could. It seems that i remember a similar pattern for back in the day!!! LOL!!! A friend got that for me. Maybe I should try it. Thanks for stopping by!
It is a Superbonder All in 1. You can get them at WalMart. www.walmart.com/ip/Fpc-Surebonder-5650-Black-All-In-1-Staple-Gun/21587974. This is NOT an affliate link. You can see the name on it at 4 minutes into the video. The package of the staple gun will tell you what style staples you need. For the length of the staples I use 1/4" to 3/8" depends on the thickness that I need to go thru. Also staples come with blunt tips or pointed tips. I like the pointed (divergent) staples. They are better for older wood. I hope this helps
Great folds but that fabric crooked completely had me distracted and no extra fabric was cut and seems it would be too thick on corners when placed back on chair but yours didn't look thick. Very neat corners. Thank you!
You are welcome. Sorry for the crooked fabric distraction. The pattern was straight on the surface of the chairs. It was not too thick. Thanks for watching hing and leaving a comment!!!
What about the bulk material? Do you ever cut it out? I have a chair I Upholstered..though I did a nice job ..the cut of the chair caused it seat to not lay solid with seeing a gap between chair and seat
I am not a professional and I use what I have. Also, I wanted to show that you don't have to use air tools. Do what you can, where you are, with what you have. Then, if you decide to go pro, invest in the good tools.
It depends on several things. The width, the length, and the thickness of the cushions. Allow several inches on all sides for turn under. Take those measurements with you to the fabric stores. They can usually help you with the calculations. Consider the width of the fabric. It can vary from 45 to 56 inches. Also, you will need more if there is a design motif that needs to be centered. I hope this helps
The foam is upholstery foam. It depends on the chair that you are recovering - use from 1" to 2" thick foam. JoAnn's fabric has it, Walmart or Amazon, of course. Measure the seat length and width. When I removed the wooden seat from the chair, I laid the seat onto the foam and used a felt tip pen to draw the shape. There are several ways to cut the foam, depending on the thickness: sharp razor knife, scissors, or electric knife (for the kitchen and carving a turkey). The electric knife is great for the thicker foam. Also look at my video about covering a round bar stool.

Just didn't. Probably not a very good reason. I am not a professional. Never claimed to be. Just an old gal sharing her creative journey. If you look at my other upholstery videos, I think I removed the fabric. Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for going back and zooming in on the corners! I appreciate your explanation about how to get corners right. 😊

I’m about to do my dining room chairs so this is perfect. I like how you do each corner instead of only one.

Liz, thanks. Yes I am still learning on my video techniques and lightning.
I do like the neat little fold for the corner, I have seen them where there is no fold at all, but I think your one is neat and sweet :)
Thank you

What brand stapler are you using. It's so quiet and easy to use. Also what size stapes. Thanks for the great video.
It is an Arrow Stapler. Purchased at WalMart. T50 staples 3/8" long! Hope that helps!!!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your video.

Thank you. The best video I saw. I got a perfect result from your advice.
Awesome!!! Thanks, Lucy!!!

Thx! Helps a lot!
Awesome!!!
Where did you get this beautiful fabric and beautiful job by the way
My friend purchased the fabric so I am not sure where she got it. Thank you!!!
Hi really nice video thank you. Would like to know what staple gun you are using? And what size of staples?

@@mywithallmyart my son just helps n with mine and it was easier without all the cutting.

Thanks for sharing ❤️

Great video. Thank you. Could you tell me where to purchase a stapler such as yours?
I bought mine years ago at Walmart
Thank you for your wonderful video! What type of material did you use?
It is upholstery fabric that my friend purchased from hobby lobby. Depends on how much use your chairs will have.
Nice job! Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
What about the bulk material? Do you ever cut it out? I have a chair I Upholstered..though I did a nice job ..the cut of the chair caused it seat to not lay solid with seeing a gap between chair and seat
Sometimes I trim but I have to be careful not to cut away too much!
Did you cut the foam to the exact size of the wood, or a little oversized?
Slightly larger. Not a lot.
Thankyou first time problems🇬🇧🤓😀
Happy to help
good job
Thank you
Thank you. How much do you charge for reupholstering 6 dining chairs?
I don't do upholstery as a business.
@@mywithallmyartThank you. I guess I was just wondering how much to charge for reupholstering 6 chairs. Thx.
Labor plus supplies. Depending on your skill level 20.00 to 25.00 per hour. Just a suggestion.
What kind of foam do you use here? Thanks.
Upholstery foam purchased at Joann's
Curious, why don't you use air tools instead of a manual stapler? Seems like a lot of extra work.
I am not a professional and I use what I have. Also, I wanted to show that you don't have to use air tools. Do what you can, where you are, with what you have. Then, if you decide to go pro, invest in the good tools.
What's the space in between the staples that you do?
In the straight areas about 2 inches and on the corners much closer, almost touching each other
Thank you so much! 😁
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
What kind of stapler do you use? I like how quiet it is.
Barbara, it is a Surebonder All in 1 stapler. It is probably 5 years old or so.
@@mywithallmyart Thank you very much!
How many yards of fabric needed for 6 dining chairs? Thank you!

Should I wash fabric before starting the project
I didn't. That really up to you. And it the chair is going to be used a lot or have kiddos using it you might spray with Scotchgard
Super.
Thank you
Thank You

How about the corners of a plywood boat seat
Sorry, Danny. I have never dealt with boat seats and am not even familiar with how boat seats look. Maybe another youtuber has that info.
Guess I’m looking for even more basic advice... what kind of foam & where you got/get it? How to measure it? Same w/the fabric...

What size foam is this?
Two inches thick. And the width and length of the chair seat. I no longer have the chairs, and it's been several years since I made this video.
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤

Just didn't. Probably not a very good reason. I am not a professional. Never claimed to be. Just an old gal sharing her creative journey. If you look at my other upholstery videos, I think I removed the fabric. Thanks for watching!!!

You seem to have a lot of material there.
Hmmm! Maybe!!!
your camera doesn't completely include the corner!!

Why don’t you show how to take out the seat … I have no clue
Oops. This one unscrewed from the bottom. Most of them do. Thanks for asking.
Camera angle is horrible at times.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am a novice!!! Hopefully I can improve soon!
