In this tutorial for Cinema 4D we take deeper control over the Voronoi Fracture to control exactly how we want a tree or wooden object to explode apart!

holy crap... this tutorial is mind blowing. I've been messing with fracturing for so long and nver realized you could have this level of control. You rock, Chris
This guy is a genius...best explanation of the voronoi fracture I've seen...time to become a patreon to support him...
Legendary. Wish you would have used a cloner for like 3 trees! I need to shatter a small fence for a client and I came here for a refresh. Thanks man
This was exactly what I was searching for! Thank you so much, you made my day! 🙂
Haven't used C4D since I started my Houdini journey but still come back to Chris to hear him solve problems, we have a very similair brain so helps me think differently or change my approach when coming back to H! :D

Great work as usual, thank you!
Absolutely amazing tutorial, thanks Chris!
another classic! Thx Chris.
Awesome work again :)
Amazing !
that saved my life
love it !
thank alot
Thank you Chris ! Your head is amazing ! cheers from Belgium
The erratic jumping little pieces is something that has plagued me for years! I guess if even the great Chris doesn't have a definitive fix for it, it can not be properly solved. Anyway, loving the channel, keep up the awesome work.
thank you, thank you!
THANK YOU BROOO..............its helped my new work
Chris your the best at this i luv how u explain everything, if there's any paid content of yours on cinema 4D i would luv to check them out ☺
33:13 rocketlasso motto :)
YES! Or, when in doubt, use a Connect Object.
@@RocketLasso hahaha right
Disclaimer: No trees were harmed during the making of this tutorial.
I never claimed that!
I wonder if it is possible to make the top and bottom splinters stay attached to the tree trunk yet get deformed (bent) in the direction of the motion of the ball. I think that would add realism to the whole animation.
How would you approach a tree with a thicker trunk? The same way?
The splintering on this looks fantastic but what if you aren't using a cannon ball to make it break apart? What if you are adding weight to a plank or a piece of plywood and the object flexes before eventually snapping. I've been trying out the new cloth tag as well as the soft body with a more rigged setup but I can't figure out how I'd get a flex before a certain amount of weight would snap it. Is that even possible in C4D or would you have to go into a software like Houdini?
Having issues with c4d r25. The part with having the inside/outside faces having different colors wont work for me. It puts out the Outside color but never the inside.
Nevermind huge idiot move on my part Did not drag into the individual selection areas. Awesome Tutorial!
