25:30 sadly my ideas were never heard by them. I made an extensive UX report with many tweaks to be done to tremendously improve everyday user experience, but nothing at all was implemented or simply reviewed by them(
This is just great. Thank you ! 🙏 The chapters are all we need. One think I overlooked in your video that made me pull my hair, is the "order of modifiers in the object manager (order of operation) (Collider goes below the gravity ! Below ! 😜)
I just wanted to tell you that I've been following your channel for a long time, and it’s truly the best place to learn from. You’re incredibly inspiring and talented, and I’m so grateful to have someone like you to learn from. I sincerely hope you never give up and continue creating tutorials like this. I don’t mind if they’re 10 hours long!
This is such a useful video for anyone to watch just to watch. So many cool ideas spawning just from having a better understanding of all the available tools instead of just the most commonly used ones. Thanks for sharing, you guys are awesome!
Has anyone ever mentioned (probably yes! 😂) that mr. RocketLasso not only brings us top notch information, but does so with an amazing voice, I’d say it’d be great for radio, such a good voice. ❤🎉😅
You make such a complex tutorial to achieve a normal result, while the GSG guys create simple and straightforward tutorials to achieve stunning effects. I highly recommend both of you reuniting, just like the good old days, for the benefit of the C4D community. Thank you both for your efforts in supporting us
4 hours. FOUR! That's amazing! There must've been a lot of prep work for this, and you haven't even touched Redshift! C4D is getting more and more fun. There are amazing results to achieve with just a couple settings and objects, the depths are just endless. And Chris is one of if not the best source to find out about so many techniques. I love your livestreams, especially when you made that Firewatch-like forest scene with simple trees and a tower and all that, it's so inspiring and so informative. Thank you so much Chris! And thanks to RocketLasso for your hard work and your incredible contribution to this shimmering community!
Thanks for this dry and effective guide through all the essential basics. Amazingly presented, structured and i love your attention to detail. Big up. Learning from you since years! Thx for that!
I watched this video all 4 hours straight through and it took me about 3 days to grasp :D Thank you I've not seen other videos whuch would describe new update in such details as you did. Really painstacking work has involved
Chris.. I hope you're aware of how much you are helping people bring food to their families by sharing your amazing mind and talent with the community. Thank you.🥰
Dang! Amazing job Chris! 4 hours long and this video was never boring! Super exciting to see so many new features being added to C4D! I was stuck smileing with joy through out many parts of this video! Great job!
nah. This is some basic stuff compared to what X-Particles capable of at full potential :( This is a good direction for Maxon, but the Insydium team is still years ahead..
I really like the insydium folk, I can tell they are such nice people. I wish they invested more in their UX and UI... After 4 years and several attempts I can still barely tap into its potential.. and this particle system looks so much more intuitive. I hope the Maxon folk give them an offer to acquire them or something to combine their talents.. I don't want to see them go down as a company because of this.. But then again they may have foreseen this as they started to diversify from x-particles.
I'm like $800 (or maybe half that because Black Friday, can't remember) into those guys from having needed X-Particles on a project a few years ago, and I've never been able to get a coherent answer out of them as to whether it's even possible to pay them to use their product again. I swear they sound like, if I wanted to start using XP again, I'd have to pay for all the time I haven't been using it like it's back-rent or something; as if, because I've paid them once before, it would cost me hundreds more to get back into it than it would for someone just opening an account today. I'm sure this couldn't actually be the case since that'd be patently out-to-lunch: it has to be a literal inability to communicate coherently. Made more sense for me to just give up working with particles for the most part until Maxon updated their native system.
@@adamtorocsik Totally agree. I was just saying this to someone yesterday... if you do a ton of particle work you're probably sticking with X-P, but this is really good for folks like me who probably get less than a handful of projects involving particles a year. Far easier, faster, more intuitive and fun than building TP Xpresso rigs.
Excellent breakdown of the new particles system. I would love to see a similar conditions system implemented into C4Ds pyro solver. For instance having heat or density only emitted while something is in motion. Would go a long way to adding some dynamic realism to destruction simulations. As long as I'm dreaming some simple secondary fracturing on impact would be nice to have as part of the fracturing system. I'm a couple of years deep into learning Houdini but these type of new innovations keeping me using C4D on projects that I need to quickly get out the door.
Wow...hell of a video! I'm having an issue though with dynamic particles. When I render, I'm getting loads of random black frames. An ideas? I'm also finding that nothing renders unless I cache the sim.
Sure! I haven't specially tried to, but if you put each leaf in a null you could keyframe the leaf. Or you could gently keyframe some of the direction parameters for the leaves.
Amazing tutorial! One thing I've noticed is the intersections happening when I use a cloner to attach objects to the emitter particles. For example, when creating spheres rolling down an incline the objects bunch together and intersect. Adding a rigid body to the cloner objects doesn't help either and conflicts with the emitter for some reason. Do you know why this is?
Fantastic update! I am sooo excited for this! One question chris - is the particle system running on the CPU or the GPU and if its on the CPU is it Multithreaded? Thx for the super video man!!
Thank you so much for the introduction. BTW, how do i restrict turbulence in only x and z only ? The particles will still be in 3d though. but Y will not be effected by turbulence.
Awesome tutorial like always 😊 👍🏻 Try proxy editing in premiere pro , convert the videos to low resolution like 1080p or lower in mov then edit the footage. when you're done editing relink with 4k footage while rendering, this the method movie editors do for editing with high resolution footage
I started that process, but I had 5.5 hours of footage, and the proxy was taking 3x the length of the video to process. Didn't have enough time to finish the edit if I did! Thx tho.
I didn't quite understand how to make the particles interact with each other and not penetrate themselves, I tried to pour a mountain of sand, but nothing happened
Why does it seem like this update slowdown the viewport performance compare to previous version? Like 10-25 fps while working large scene file with over 500million onscreen mesh
Such an awesome introduction. Somehow 4 hours is not too long at all. Thanks! I struggle to understand the Turn modifier. How did you get the particles to turn exactly 45° in the example at 2:41:45?
this is awesome. I am having a hard time adding rigid body to particles (spline emmiter) RS. I am throwing it on everything a nothing seems to keep spheres from overlapping. Thx in case you answer.
how to make colorized trails by particle colors? x particles trail object does it. sad to see c4ds particles come without trail object but uses old one. next update should offer something like x particles trail generator.
Load of good stuff! I did update my redshift and c4d, but I do not see the "particles" tab when I apply the redshift tag. Feels bad! I hope it's a bug or something..
Thanks for posting such a comprehensive guide to new features. I've had a quick play but, call me stupid, I can't see an obvious way to do Particle-to-Particle collisions. Is this missing in the first release?
You can render with standard and physical but only with geometry. I don't see that as a problem though. The cloner gives you access to the most important particle data (color, radius, velocity...) and in Multi Instance mode it is also very fast. Just use sphere and you get a similar result to rendering dots. Depending on what you are after you might also get away with tracing the particles and rendering them with hair.

Hopefully the length isn't overwhelming. I debated splitting it up into parts.
No man is great stuff.. lenght is never a problem
@@RocketLasso At first glance, yes it was, but I went to the chapters that most interested me and I'll be back to watch the rest. 🙂

ok now I get why insydium was recently selling perpetual licenses at 50% off
It's surprising that Maxon didn't create a particle layout option like the one you created.

No actual collision per se, but "Flock" effectively does this. You can see it here 3:58:59
Is it feasible to render the particles using the Standard render engine instead of RedShift? (Only the particles, no geometry.)
