Thanks Paul, it was a gamble for sure, but having been out of sorts for a couple of weeks I was gagging to at least get out and risk it. Oddly enough I only had one shot in mind, which wasn’t how I had hoped for (the final tree) but I really enjoyed capturing the first, the brick building. I’ve walked by it a hundred times and not considered it worth breaking out the camera, but this time it immediately caught my attention. Thanks for the comment. :)
It’s sure challenging in those conditions, but your images made it worthwhile. I managed to get out for a few hours in the snow today and the frostbite has only just left my fingers!
I think it’s my hands that suffer whenever it’s cold. The rest of me is snug. My layering is top notch, even had overtrousers on today, but I HAVE to take my gloves off, they never fit well.
You really braved the elements on this one Brrr🥶🥶🥶 I loved the shot of the little hut. It looks so picturesque. And nice one of the tree as well. Hope you’re fully recovered from your gout and that nasty cold. See ya next time Eddie 👍
Thanks Dave, it was definitely a learning experience. I’ll be giving some thought to how best keep my kit in good order in extreme weather. Headed out with my Amigo, Craig this week. Hopefully a good shoot will be had.
Brave man I always think how i'm going to get back, my car is crap in the snow and that road is steep by the Old Rock Inn. Worth it though some moody winter shots and of course the shot of the famous tree, Hope no bugger cuts that down. Great you're feeling better catch you on the next vid👍👍👍
Superb conditions, but obviously challenging. My car hates anything wet , rain, snow, and car washes. So if I go out in the snow it will be local. Great use of that 70-200 lens. Hut shots and compression on Hen cloud very nice.
No, the Beast is a Zafira. I honestly wouldn’t risk the drive in the winter if I cared even remotely about my vehicle. I judge the drive as I go. I’ve been in enough conditions to know where the limits of the pull of the Beast are and I think if you are confident in what you are driving then you’ll make the right judgement call. Always err on the side of caution would be my approach.
Man that lonely tree behind you is amazing!!!!!
Indeed! I shot quite a bit of the area before moving on. There are a few truly spectacular trees to be found across the Roaches.
I enjoyed that, knowing someone was out there getting the best out of the conditions . Love the camera Names

Good video. I think you needed that cuppa. I like the first couple of shots of the hut. I hope you get your lens sorted.
Thanks Andy, update on the 70-200. It’s functioning to a point but definitely needs a trip to the repair shop.

Squeaky bum time down that road, Alan.

Cheers Craig. See you tomorrow!
Oooh nice last shot
Cheers :)
Some conditions they were. When the snow hits with the wind like that its horrible.
No kidding. None of the forecasters bothered to talk about the hellish gusts coming my way. All concentrating on where the snow would land.
I'd have been worried about getting out of the hill where the small waterfall is by the Rock Inn. Do you have 4X4?

Eddie your hat is the same shape as Hen Cloud was that intentional.
I never have any idea what my hats are doing. I do not look good in a hat. Or out of one.
