They are indeed working on a successor. They are going to make a version of AlphaZero, the one that learned to play Chess without ANY outside material at all no replays no strategies nothing, that plays StarCraft II. Idk if they've actually STARTED doing that yet but they are planning on it.

Great job casting all the alpha star games, didnt watch from the very start but I've been a regular viewer and honestly forgot there was going to be an end, so many good games, I would say alpha star reigned supreme for majority of matches although humanity had a few good wins it seemed like fighting a brick wall, other than those famous derps. Thanks for the great content man.

In Go, AI crushed the soul of the revered 18-time world champ who retired from the game: "...arguing that he could never be the top overall player of Go due to the increasing dominance of AI." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Sedol It's speculated that Lee then went into public service...? So if AI compels humanity to change the focus of their lives for the betterment of society, then hey, that's a good thing.
Actually, you kept saying command center throughout the series but the first thing Alphastar usually does is upgrade to orbital command. Is this just something that commentators do with SCII? idk
Alphastar's apm was very limited, to not get an unfair advantage against human players. If they allowed alphastar to play without this limit probably it would destroy the best human players
how about just asking deepmind for more replays? If you tell them you have a popular channel and people want to see more they might send you some extras

The most interesting aspects of AlphaStar to me were how it utilised space. It's biggest flaws were Terrain and how to use space.

Alphastar is a true hero, after how much time they spent on alpha go and later iterations i would be a little sad if google stops here for alphastar
I think they'll try merging AlphaStar with AlphaZero/MuZero for a general games AI. MuZero AlphaStar and AlphaFold will probably combine.

It was fun till it lasted.
And I think the protoss or Terran is the most consistently good build. AlphaStars late game for all 3 is a little weak, especially weak as Zerg.
