I'm now a fan of Has, winning or losing, there will not be another man who get into the grand final of world champion ship, facing the reigning back-to-back world champion, then cheese that guy for 3 games. Hat off to his style
I've also become a fan of Has' unorthodox unorthodox cheese. After I saw my previous favorites, Showtime and Scarlett, get glassed by Serral, it was so refreshing to see Has' first win. Sure, he lost the rest of the games, but when Serral shook his head after just barely surviving Has' first shield battery + immortal strat, I just straight out cried with laughter. "HAS HAS YOU NOW!"
PixieTheDude games that come down to the wire, strategies we rarely see, making even the god known as serral look like he’s losing, yeah. So boring right?
PixieTheDude That’s what the entire pro scene has been saying. To quote the casters themselves, you need good macro but the ability to throw in cheese and timing attacks. Has doesn’t do that, but he got to the finals with THIS. So yeah, it is finals material.
This is easily the single most epic series I have ever watched. To say this was blowout does not give justice to the quality of the matches that were played. Serral is one cold genius level player and is arguably the best to have ever played zerg while Has is as crafty and unpredictable as he is capable. This series could have gone either way and was won and lost on the smallest of details. Well done to both players a contest like this does not happen without two formidable minds behind the pieces. This honestly had me at the edge of my seat the entire way.
Serral is not even close to being the best player to have ever played Zerg lol. Best foreinger of LotV definetly, best foreinger of to play zerg of all time possibly, but absolutely not the best zerg player ever.
Championships are the standard by which all great players are judged three in a row is a feat to be sure. Admittedly I have only started watching these contests over the last 4 months or so. In your estimation who is the best all time zerg player...remember championships are a requirement....aaaannnnd go!
I'll reserve judgement until after Blizzcon on how Serral stacks up against the Koreans. But it's no exaggeration to say that he is probably the best non-Korean to play SC2. Best Zerg in SC2 so far was Nestea, maybe even Life back in his hayday, imo. Rogue certainly has the potential.
I recover my love for the StarCraft again after 5 year since i watch Has playing. I remember when i was starting on the game and i had a lot of ideas. Sadly after a cuples of years the game became boring and stricted to rules. Is wonderfull that finally a player show how much potential have this game. I really expect that he improve his game. Just imagine a player whit the mind of Has and the skill of Bisu just mind blowing guys 🔥🔥🔥🔥 STARCRAFT FOREVER.
Looking back on these games, commentators missed a lot. On game 1, Serral cancelling zergling speed to get fast overlord speed was key. Then Serral cancels zergling speed again to prioritize roach speed. Zergling speed didn't even finish until 6:58, which meant if Has noticed this and went for blink stalkers or adepts, Serral wouldn't have been able to get a surround. Since Serral took the 'third' as his natural, adepts or blink stalkers could've harassed mineral lines easily. As 'unpredictable' as Has was, he played the same chargelot build almost every game, which Serral simply countered
I really wish the video uploads would be in order for people who can’t tune into the tournament the entire live session. Grand final smack dab in the middle....smh…half the fun is the suspense especially with this kind of finale...
lol he just doesn't know how to play normal. Though, he knows, but he sucks in that. This is why he tries crazy builds, abusing the most overpowered tech in T1-T2 (shield batteries, immortals - all of that). Hate cheesers like him. If i were david kim i'd balance the issues Has and his "collegues" bring to games immediately. He's killing the whole idea of strategy, turning games into micro control contests. even players who feel most uncomfortable in this game rush modes win him - if they are skilled enough. But in middle+late type of game he is not a match for even the worst of them. What does it say to you? ^^
Аvida Liver the people that play outside of the meta and make it a tough match for professionals and you say it's not strategy. It's clearly a lot of strategy. He overcomes his less than great mechanics, with strategy to turn the game upside down. It's boring to see the same match again and again. Being somewhat of a cheeser my self, when I played (mainly because my PC sucked and if there was more than 100 units I had like 5-15 fps) it was always fun to see diamond and mid master players say I sucked, but when I played GM's they usually recognized that a found a hole in their gameplay and commended me on it.
Watching Has is something that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You'll never know what tricks he has on his sleeves. Serral is too strong ever. love this championship!
Once his attack got cleaned up Has knew it was over for him. Serral was up 16 workers, 50 total supply, and a base. And it's not just any opponent with a lead, it's Serral.
It's not a question of it being against Serral. That game was lost against any opponent. The corruptors will destroy his nexuses in a few seconds, and he has no way to prevent that.
I agree, for me HAS is the best player today simply because of how he understands the game so much that it's being played in ways we find weird or random, not to mention how smart he is too.
Year ago i was watching it as a Has fan vouching for canons every game. Half a year after THAT happend and I returned to see the way of Serral - the best in the world. Still some liking for Has.
I'm very, very impressed with Serral's ability to handle the cheese. Doesn't let it rattle him. Plays patient and smart, and doesn't let it frustrate him. Unlike players like Scarlett or Neeb, Serral is able to stay cool, calm, and collected no matter what you want to try. The cannon rush in game 3 was "perfect", but it didn't matter because of that ability to logically think out the scenario. I wish I could do that in my own life haha!
Game 3 was one of the most amazing games ive seen in a while. Overall absolutely amazing series :) Serral precise and chirurgic, has chaotic and overwhelming :D
i am zerg fan since 1996 but this guy.. ,,Has,, has (no pun ) some of most engaging games ever. like you love watching him play whether he wins or looses. dude is soo good
Ok so I'm new to starcraft 2. What do the glowing pillars do that when your troops move close to piece themselves together? There is like one on each map
Such a Good grand final. Map pool, both players and their dire contrast. I'm a zerg player, I was rooting for has the whole time even tho I already knew he lost. Would've been cool to see a cheeser win.
Yeah it was pretty exciting. Definitely would argue he won off his cheese, though, as he did the same reaper rush like 2-3 times, and I think Blizzard would agree with me because they nerfed the reaper soon after =P Massively impressed by Serral's crisis management, though. What tense games those were.
Has is the Ultimate test of a fundamentally perfect SC2 player. He literally is the opposite of solid strategy. This game is kinda weirdly poetic showing how contrasted these two players go about the game. If serral lost (probably the best player ever) than it would kind of mean that cheese is the ultimate strategy. But he was able to beat Has by the skin of his teeth most of these games. This is probably my favorite series.

Truestm Oh yeah my bad. I mean to say the 'foreign sOs". But as for sOs taking some tips on Has' build that's in the realm of possibility. I remember took a build from a Korean streamer with blink DTs having them body and zealots attack on the other side to complete a 'sandwhich' against Inno but it failed though. I have feeling Has' +2 Immortal Zealot Sentry timing might become a new meta build for Toss mid game.
Photon/battery rush + immortal cheesy plays are effective, no denial in that up until diamond... faced hundreds of them up until master league where it became obsolete. The reason is because the people who stay too long on cheesy plays usually have 0 skill or game for mid/late gaming. HAS gave me that impression where he either all-inn or gives up easily like he did on some games after some stupid push where he scouted before hand and knew what he was getting into. He is good... very good at cheesing no denial in that, but he needs to improve alot his mid/late game micro/macro skills as backup for a failed cheesy play. If he combines that cheesy creativity agressiveness with mid/late game, u got yourself champ material.
okay, imagine this, HAS is so good he didnt need to show it until the final with Serral, making everyone think he is just a cheesy wierdo... still Serral being the monster that he is, its good to see someone is able to give him a good run for his money.. so Has scores in my book, altho Serral is really such a monster.. dayum what a match, love it
the overall standard of play has increased so much, these days our mid-tier foreigners, are better than yesteryear’s world champions. Our legendary lord and savior nestea even, in his prime, wouldn’t hold a candle to today’s zerg.
Lmao at the voters. Who will win? 21% Serral, 79% Has. Gotta love when a community can come together to troll as one.
As a taiwanese american I voted for Has...objectively of course as Has is one of the smartest protoss to ever grace the game

you know, the whole definition of "cheese" is "a strategy that is highly unconventional and designed to take one's opponent by surprise. In general, cheese is hard to beat if not scouted but easy to defeat if it is scouted." (© luqipedia)
also: "Cheese is usually characterized by its strategic fragility. The cheesing player is making a wager that the defending player will have some sort of oversight in his build. Examples are: Lack of detection against Dark Templars or Banshees, lack of anti-air against certain Stargate builds, or economic greediness against a two raxing Terran."
now tell me where was that strategic fragility in Has's Cannon-Battery-Immortal cheese? Even knowing for certain what he's going to do Serral wins only with his micro skills. Does it look like a cheese to you? No. It's abusing imbalanced recent patch (Mothership Core => shield batteries). As soon as David Kim fixes this issue, Has will fall to the bottom of all championships where he did belong before this patch.
My point is that it's fine to be cheeser. Well, i still don't like it because it's low-skill game + it's forcing the game into low-economy stage. Isn't it a bit unfair, that you can't force high-economy stage then? Natural cheesers always have advantage because they always play in their field.
And it is okay if the late-game guy always puts a lot of efforts to scout cheese, finds it and counters properly, and the cheeser lose. What is not okay - when the cheese is too overpowered to counter even when scouted.
btw, the more games like this we see, the more often they will happen, if nothing changes. Do you want to see Cannon-Battery-Immortal all-in every single game? No one will care about late-game skills when you're able to win GML with 3 units no matter what they do.
Surprise has and always will be a key part of war and war games.
fakecubed, you so woked. And deeeep …….
Take notes guys: hard counter to a proxy hatch is a proxy stargate. 😆 God I love Has games.

You do know he would completely mop the floor with you right?
54:09 "will serral will live through this ground assault" 23 seconds later serral wins, that some quality comenting
Can anyone tell me the name of the soundtrack at 58:42 ?
Somebody could please link me the games of Has vs Special pls? I can't find them anywhere...
Kretaros Darker are they played yet?
I don't think it was cast. The only group stage 3 matches cast were has - elazer, serral - mana, and scarlett - ptitdrogo I believe.
Почему во всех играх одно и то же Make some noise for? Не надоедает? =)
Finally, sc2 is not boring to watch...
Has using red as his color of choice is quite appropriate considering his strategies would make Alarak proud.
27:50 Tasteless: "What a Finnish!"
okay, imagine this, HAS is so good he didnt need to show it until the final with Serral, making everyone think he is just a cheesy wierdo... still Serral being the monster that he is, its good to see someone is able to give him a good run for his money.. so Has scores in my book, altho Serral is really such a monster.. dayum what a match, love it
Serral vs Maru; who will win? 🤔🤔🤔
Who do you think is a better Zerg... Serral at his prime or Life at his prime?
the overall standard of play has increased so much, these days our mid-tier foreigners, are better than yesteryear’s world champions. Our legendary lord and savior nestea even, in his prime, wouldn’t hold a candle to today’s zerg.
Game 1: 11:45 Game 2: 21:54 Game 3: 29:56 Game 4: 41:23 Game 5: 1:00:16 Game 6: 1:13:36
Thanks!
