That mythic unique chest is going to be insane (probably worth taking over tyrael / raiment). It gives you +1 ranks passive skills so we're looking at +1 glass cannon, +1 conj mastery, +1 devouring blaze, +1 hoarfrost, +1 to that new cooldown passive, and bunch of other juicy passives (unless I'm interpreting this wrong).
Great as always! I'm still waiting for a pure ice shard blaster unique :( but hey ! maybe this familiar thing make us happy , guess we'll c ;) tnx m8 .
When I saw the Familiar skill + enchantment I immediately thought of your Hydra build. I have a strong suspicion/hope the familiars will perform their detonate prematurely upon summoning a new one beyond cap. With the speed of Hydra summons, I really think that could be something magical to play. Although FO is in a premium position w/ the preservation of Splintering and Conj Mastery, I think Hydra could be the strongest starter for leveling until you get a good winterglass. Side-stepping mana concerns with Hydra + Familiar pops, in addition to some sizable Burning dmg buffs and Paragon reworks, puts it in a great spot for blasting until endgame Frozen Orb imo. Thanks for all the Sorc inspiration Lurkin -- it was fun to theorycraft during work today :)
Additionally, what do you think of Vox Omnium as staff of choice for Frozen Orb? The Non-Physical dmg + Enlightenment Passive would be an easy +450% (additive) dmg increase if I understand right. Also the major attack speed to ramp quicker. Or is too much lost by not having Wand/focus? (a 4GA Vox Omnium could be cheap early)
I’m hard pressed to give up frozen orb double cast tempers 🥲 so much damage. You can make anything work tho if you temper your expectations on damage output
i have to say the familiar skill was one of the "uncoolest" skills that they showed us, but it might be the technical deepest - its also designed with a lot of synergies in the new sorceror kit so i am interested to see where this is going - also yesterday i had a thought. By using runewords for example to trigger teleport we might finally have some more skillslots available to create more build diversity - sorc is one of the classes that suffers the most from the 6 kill limit because teleport, ice armor and flame shield are mostly set leaving only 3 buttons - by outsourceing one of these skills or the funcionality we might be able to squeeze something like frost nova back in different builds or similar stuff - i am pretty hyped what the runewords and the new mecenaries will do to sorc
Good summary. Most content creators hate the 5 paragon limit. I don"t. I really like it. Like you, I hate the fact that I have to rush 7 to 8 boards just to get more damage. I remember running some builds with 5 boards, and the survivability was better and qol, but the damage was meh. So I am forced to do 7 boards just to do damage at the expense of losing some survivability. Btw I am surprised you have Incinerate there but not Firewall. I think Firewall is still better than Incinerate. The buffs to burning though and new tempers are good but until we can test it, it's safe to say they will feel the same
I'm glad they capped CM, it was getting a bit ridiculous and we don't want to be in a state where every top meta build has to push 40+ conjurations out just for the CM buff whether it needs the conjurations or not. I actually would have preferred they cap it more and buff in other places to compensate. I think LS should have a max of 10 instances or something, but a CM cap is ok too and leaves it open to spam high LS numbers I really don't like though that the new skill is another conjuration, because that just feeds the CM meta more. Even with the 30 cap CM is just gonna be way too strong to ignore in any build. At least the enchant replaces firebolt enchant and you dont need it on your bar but everyone will still be running ice blades and probably LS and needing 15-20+ CM stacks to be a decent build. I've also never been a fan of the "tals" mechanic of cycling elements for a damage buff. I get that its easy enough to do and its thematic, but its getting kind of boring and they keep just leaning into it more and more. Now we will have the ring plus the legendary node plus that aspect. It's going to be way too much bonus damage to not do it, which ends up making it mandatory for every build. So basically every build will be pick a main skill, and then load up on conjurations and armor/teleport because you have to be stacking CM and you have to have all 3 elements and you have to have defensives still. I don't really see this changing the meta much at all, as every build will ride the same 5 other skills and stack the same mechanics. The only thing that will change is a couple of aspects or uniques to go with fireball, orb, etc
You hit the nail on the head and that’s how I’ll be making just about every build. Ice blade and familiar enchantment. It’s a conj meta. Better find those ammys lol
@@Lurkin17 Unfortunately I think the amulet meta will still just be winterglass, since the CM ranks are higher than anything you can get on a regular ammy (and the conj CD proc works even if you dont run frozen orb). Another case of a well intentioned buff that while needed ends up making something mandatory.
Hello good summary. I notice you didn't mention starlight aspect nerf (it needs 200% overhealing now to proc up from 20%) might be a big hit to CL with max AS builds.
I think so. Engulfing flames was always a super hard aspect to slot. That condition that enemies take more dot damage than remaining life doesn’t really occur with any real frequency on anything but like firebolt or when leveling. Engulfing was like a last resort aspect. I like that the more DOT than life got offloaded as just a bonus to a passive, that you can potentially scale really high while still getting 6% burning damage per rank. I have complained about engulfing flames every PTR feedback sheet the GMS team on discord sends the devs
I wish I shared your optimism about these changes as a whole. I am looking forward to the new story content with the expansion. After I complete that, I do not know.
Hello bro again, did you read the new boss loot table? (bottom line in patch notes) they removed some repeated items of Sorc loot table. Now ever boss drops different item. No same item drop in two different boss.
I'm a bit concerned about conjurations, they are getting more and more powerful and there is just no way around it anymore. I also wonder how much more barrier and DR the Sorc gets, I mean we are already basically unkillable right now 😅
@MusaOsmanKaratosun well I never even reached 20 with my chain lightning spear hybrid 😅. As Lurkin said, most people won't care. You still get 300% damage, 300% movement speed and 600% mana reg, even with average gear, which makes every other passive in the game look absolutely ridiculous in compassion 😆
I think we are definitely in a meta where conj mastery is king and whatever build can get as close to 30 without going over will be best. I think builds that can’t make a ton of conj will continue to get out-scaled. As for survivability we are still held down by the fact we have a small life pool and cannot get more barrier than max life. But the new paragon board changes should be good as I can afford to scoop a bunch of Max Life now and more Damage Reduction
@Lurkin17 I must say I never had any survivability issues with Sorc and I'm usually around 20k life. There is so much DR on passives, aspects and gear, and basically no cooldown on Ice Armor. I'm not even using Flame Shield anymore. If my Barb didn't have Tyraels he'd be in way more trouble than my Sorc -_-
The 30 cap helps a little but but only keeps it from becoming rediculous where the best build is always the one that can stack 50+ But you are right, its going to be the hard meta and there is no way around it. Even at 30 stacks, thats 3% damage base per stack but easily 10%+ if you buff CM with amulet, which is just so damn strong its mandatory. Unpopular opinion maybe but I think the CM max should be like 20, though I would have preferred they just give LS a cap of 8 or 10 or something (as all the others have caps too). Even if you do that, CM is still too strong once you account for passive bonuses. It's not too bad at base (3 x 30 =90%) but nobody will ever play at base when you can more than double it with passive ranks. CM damage should only be like 0.5% per rank per stack if they are letting us stack to 30. A level 10 CM would still give you 5% per stack which would still be a crazy high 150% damage boost.
outside of bosses i dont think the familiar will be enough to maintain burning. even on bosses it feels questionable. that familiar node to make it rotate each cast along with ice blades enchant sounds prime for keeping tal rasha stacks up regardless of what else is on your bar, and adding more conj mastery stacks of course.
I hated the s5 builds with the almost 0 cd where you had to spam 2-3 skills. The best builds for me wore the s2 arc lash and blizzard in general, maybe even s3 CL
Don’t think we are getting 3rd enchantment: there are more skill tree reworks post PTR as well. People in the know say it flips a lot of build crafting on its head. Glad only a select few get a jump start at it 🥲🥲
Am I the only one annoyed they still haven't fixed Hydras ability to proc enchants like fire wall or other skills like meteor reliably etc.? Familiar was weak, they get made fun of for cloning mobs, the new skill is literally just more of that, they all have the same model. They are pushing multi-elements really hard making it even harder for pure 1-elemental sorcs to have viable builds. It feels like this expansion was rushed just as much as the release.
That’s just how end nodes work they normally don’t get LHC, At least for sorc. But yeah I wish the summoned hydra had lhc. I have an issue with hydra enchant being terrible basically because you are still capped at 2 or 3 hydra
I mean can +1 to passives beat a fat amount of All DR and Max resist to all elements. If you want max damage we take 7 ranks to glass cannon. It is interesting tho
They put in so much stuff from D2/D3! They should put in the ones that exist wow, monthly cost too! The more money blizzard/Microsoft gets? the more content we get right? that's good =)
As a Sorc main, you are my 1 stop shop for all Sorc stuff! Tks 4 all the efforts & gratz on 5k subs Lurkin! 😊
Thanks appreciate u bb
Here he is, our man when it comes to D4 Sorcerer and northwar also
See what nowthwar spreadsheets out. See what I feel out. Mix and match. Dps and coziness
Thank you Lurkin, your my man for Sorc info. Thank you for your hard work!
U a G bro. Nice listen for my drive to the lake this weekend
Nice summary Lurkin. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to blasting season six in about a month. Can't wait!!!

I agree with everything you said, except for squeezing frost nova back in, unless it gets a rework to provide damage like how smoke bomb does
Well get to pit 47 and go to blizzard hq with our torches and pitchforks.

Great stuff as always, thx man.
I'm looking forward to testing Aspect of Charged Flash. I always a fan of CB sorc in D2 but D4 CB disappointed me in term of visual and power.
Thank you!

A question i have is what happens to the renown paragon points do we still get them or is it a flat 300 ? or 300 including renown?
Do you think the Endless Pyre and Engulfing Flames changes are buffs?

Time to cook.
Yes chef
There are some meteor aspects and weapon tempers. Would love to a viable meteor build. Pls meteor vs spiritborn. I hope meteor wins.
It should be stronger next season forsure! Definitely not spiritborn levels but we can dream
I wish I shared your optimism about these changes as a whole. I am looking forward to the new story content with the expansion. After I complete that, I do not know.
Play spirit born for a season and be OP. Eagle spiritborn looks wild
iim glad they capped CM instead of gutting splintering. I have no problems leaving pure LS behing in s5. May FO reign!
30 was a good cap as well. Very reasonable
Hello bro again, did you read the new boss loot table? (bottom line in patch notes) they removed some repeated items of Sorc loot table. Now ever boss drops different item. No same item drop in two different boss.
Yeah I saw that. I omitted a lot of the patch note changes. Wanted to mainly do a sorc review
@@Lurkin17 great, now zir will only drop 2 amulets. Better chance for getting bis items earlier and faster.
i will try spirit born first but sorc looks good
Def play spiritborn first and when you get bored come back to sorc. I’ll have the meta figured out
I'm a bit concerned about conjurations, they are getting more and more powerful and there is just no way around it anymore.

I’m just happy to get something that can scale conj mastery and provide burning
