I really wish they would start doing skill interactions. We’ll have 2 new unique focuses next season, they could have done something like when a super ball lightning is proced gravitational ball lightning is summoned around the enemy and pulls close enemies in. They really need to do something to make the game play feel more dynamic.
I was surprised to not see any change to the Serpentine aspect, was hoping for something to make hydra have the core skill tag. Ranks to core skills on Heir of Perdition and Starless Skies is wasted for Hydra builds. As well as the passive Elemental Dominance.
It has happened a few times to where i build a build and then right in the next season we get something that will boost the build lol. I always do unique builds, challenge myself and never follow the meta. This season im doing a meteorite build and then look at what we get with the armageddon aspect buff lol. Shocking impact seems really amazing now and can open up unique builds i have always thought of but didnt do them because it wouldnt work well with bosses but now i can so thats exciting. Also the buffs to shock legendary nodes and ultimate skills is a W for sure
Same here haha. Every season I never go for meta, I try and create new build ideas. Every next season that thing i was doing gets improved in some way. Its like they’re watching us
Great analysis. I saw a 240% increase on burn dmg builds from the freed up 4th board, inferno changes and freeing up a vuln lhc slot. Seems solid. Ball lightning looks incredible and I definitely think there's potential in ice ult with a set of conjurations. You didn't mention it resets all CDR on use, so if conjurations have enough lhc with orange herald you'll be able to move pop pop, move pop pop. Even some potential with the pull ball lightning and ice ult combo could be fun. Yet to test and would be happy to hear your result if meteorite dmg affects the flat burn dmg number meteorites can apply. If so then a viable burn meteorite build running inferno, the rune and meteor could end up being crazy burn damage. The big hit to firebolt is the GIANT loss of lhc. The firebolt enchant was a lucky hit chance engine because it applied LHC to the burn tick equal to the lhc % of the skill that applied it and half of firebolts lhc. (Ex- chain lightning 60% lhc and firebolt 100% lhc would be .6 x (100 x.5) so a lhc of .3 in addition to chain lightning .6 on each application which let things like resource lhc go crazy. This also really hurt meteor builds which the meteorites were able to apply firebolt for lhc to proc more meteors.
I gave them the same suggestion for shocking impact in the season 5 PTR in-game suggestion form, if they actually read those Stun builds might work now but enchantments are still so bad
The increased lucky hit chance on Stormhorn is to compensate for only having one projectile. Stormhorn sounds like it could be better for single target.
I think the changes on armageddon aspect will make the meteor build shine. Imo it will be A or may be S rank. Combination of armageddon, shattered, meteorite + ultimate runes will blast the pit bosses. Probably dividing the double damage chance between meteor and meteories will be the go to scnario for more sustainable damage both on packs and bosses.
It’s really something I am going to have to play test. It can be difficult to scale both meteors and meteorites. I need to find out if hybrid is worth it running shattered stars and Armageddon over just 2 generic damage aspects. You do bring up a good point with inferno being spammble and actually being able to make a bunch of meteors. I will get to the bottom of it!
Gonna give Hydra inferno build a try been wanting hydra to work for such a long time now may be the time to be at least good with all these fire buffs and the familiar gloves.
Starless actually works with certain things that are free casts. I think behind the scenes the game spends your mana and refunds it at the same time or something
Thank you, sir. I'm hoping one day they move Starfall Coronet to another slot (focus like for BL, glove etc.) so Meteor can incorporate Shako or Perdition.
You missed something. Gravitational is now a utility aspect that provides a pull every third cast. The old Gravs functionality is now the Okuns catalyst unique focus
Deep Freeze isn't a defensive skill, so that with Tenuous Destruction could be a good combo. Maybe even go with a full Ice Build with Elemental Synergies, since there would be no Teleport nor Flame Shield. Though Flame Shield enchant could be used, perhaps for hardcore players. Sidhe bindings not great but could be used to trigger Tal Rashas if it works like Season 6 for triggering Tal. Maybe not the greatest but could be fun to play. A turtle build.
I don’t think so. It may sneak itself onto a few builds in a 1x aspect slot to help mob better, but I don’t think it will be the main damage dealer anymoreb
Casual here who plays with his wife a handful of hours a week. She runs a Frozen Orb sorcerer because the "mom" build ease of it is exactly what she wants and it's still a joy to play with all the various things flying around screen without having to hit specific buttons rapidly in specific order to do so. I can't get her past 50 Pit right now because the gear just isn't there, and she will never be one of those people who presses everything perfectly as they come off cooldown. Please tell me she didn't get nerfed as I have no idea what kind of fallback build I could use for her.
She needs to run spirit born. Sorc was my main but anything other then spirit born can't finish content this season. We've stopped playing and now playing world of warcraft instead, sooo much better! She can play frost mage 3 buttons most content, my main is druid and that's so much fun with the ease of doing everything quickly. She may struggle with raids but she can get good gear from a profession and doesn't have to run the raids. Far better end game content in wow.
She got nerfed. But a lot can change with PTR feedback. I wouldn’t fret too much. Chain lightning is also very easy to plan and is looking really strong in season 7 too.
What about blizzard build? I know its not as good and ice isnt getting love this patch, but that's what I love to play and am waiting for eventual buff.
For a class that has multiple builds where the should mix elements, it is strangely wrong when they try to hard separate the passives that link those builds and not give something to replace them. I am not as optimistic.
I think what they're slowly doing is re-tooling the sorc class (as well as other classes) to remove some of the redundancies. scorching was too good that it became must use for any sorc build.
It’s a bit like we are in the moment right after ripping a bandaid off. The changes are very good for the class health as a whole. Builds will still look a touch similiar, but they all won’t just scale damage with Conj and DB anymore. We have more legendary nodes to get damage from. I think the main issue at hand is we cannot overpower well, and thus can’t really compare to other classes. I am optimistic for the future and I think, even if some stuff lost damage… it was for the best long term
Vulnerable damage affixed and tempers everywhere. Multiply by 1.2 for inherent vuln bonus. Multiply by 1.53 for shredding blades amulet. Multiply by 1.104 for exploit. By 1.6 for frigid fate. Certain things scale the “BONUS” in the tooltip
I disagree - I do not share your optimism at all. Sure BL might be viable this season, but all my builds for example Orb, Telestomp, LS, FB obtain roughly 25+ CM stacks at all times which is roughly x250% + roughly x70% from DB. There is nothing in the notes to offset this loss. Sure little bit from innerflames & Icy touch but that's trivial in comparison. Not the mention we also lose MS MR. And hardly any skill number tweaking in here either - absolutely disgusting.
With the case of orb, yes it’s in the gutter. In the case of LS, it’s still fully able to utilize Conj mastery. The loss of DB on shock builds is completely offset by inner flames, icy touch, and being able to take another passive on the amulet. The loss of CM is partially offset by Ceasless and static surge. Fireball was not getting 25 Conj stacks lol. Maybe 6-10 lol. Splintering will be in the exact same spot it is right now, IF the damage scaling is fixed to scale with crit damage bonus instead of the additive (bugged right now) I am trying to be optimistic here. I will be testing things in the PTR and will have a tier list and projected pit range
not convinced, the rehash of the other seasons... I will come back to season 25 when there will be more real new things lol in the meantime it will be poe2
But u have a right to be concerned. You love sorc and thats understandable. Still i do one sorc build because of you.. we love you in perra discord lol
@Lurkin17 Yeah I would sometimes use NocKry when running chain lightning because of all the CC. However there's a 3s cooldown on Kry so unfortunately it doesn't spam vortex that much.
Why do they always neglect Corpse Explosion and Summons? Occult Commander Affix should just be tied to Skeletal and Mage Mastery Levels like in Diablo 2.... Wasted Aspect slot in an already blouted necro requirement.
Too late, I gave D4 over a year, 6 seasons, and $500+ in skins/Expansion to get it right. I will play PoE2 for now and revisit D4 in a few seasons sometime in 2025 when it becomes a full game.
Actually, tempering is really bad, even with scrolls. If you try and upgrade a power, asuming you even got the power you wanted, on a really good item, the chanse to brick it by trying to upgrade is very very high. Meaning it never feels good to get a really good 2-4 ga item, as you know it will eiter be bricked, or mid on the temper power. One of the worst things in the game at the moment. Sure masterworking feels bad,. and a giant time sink, but eventuelly you will get there. Nothing bricks, it just sucks.
I want my different flavors of hydras back, frost nova hydras, CL lightning hydras, fireball hydras etc. imagine if the skills the special hydras cast synergized with your build for scaling. Okay while I'm wildin, some kind of arcane hydra that occasional casts black holes and an arcane skill we'd like to see bought back
i am willing to bet, that if this BL Sorc get even close to 10% of the barbs power, they will nerf it to ground in an instant. I suggest, just change everything, every aspect, every glyph, every skill, every temper to 1% chance to heal. Then I will accept that Blizzard devs are not idiots, just hating that much on sorc.
Ngl, I do feel frost should get something while they retool the class. Maybe rework storm swell to do 50%x frost skill damage while ice armor is up or something. I am curious to see if something can be cooked up with deep freeze and the new ultimate aspects, maybe using tenuous destruction instead of storm swell.
Lurkin i am surprised you havent rage quit diablo yet lol. We are playing wow now, 3 seasons of bs is enough for me. Wow used to be not so good but this update has been great and we have joked the old programmers were deomoted from wow and put in diablo 😂
Nah shock and pyro builds will be fine. We are def behind other classes but we basically got a kitchen remodel. Still have a lot of fixtures and appliances to put in
@@Lurkin17 yeah i noticed that since i am HC main, i can make my own sorcs but usually go off your builds to see the scaling and you place a lot of points in the paragon to defense where you can which is greatly appreciated since you go HAM in pits and what not, but you do work bro. keep it up.
I feel like going outside my apartment at 3 am yelling I Am A SORCERER
Great sum-up! Hope to see how things look after PTR.
Yeah should be decent.
I laughed too when you said 'we won't run into any more issues'. But I love you for getting the sentence out before cracking up.

Ayy sweet thx. If you have any questions you can find me in sorc chat or my sorc forum post on the discord

Ice blade + BL or forb enchant tbh
When I first saw the patch notes I thought it was a major nerf to the class. I’m a little more hopeful for season 7 after seeing this video.
Yaa ball light looking juicy, focus looks dope.
Good video as always Lurkin! Are you planning to play POE2 EA?
Perhaps. Not sure. I have a code. We shall see
The increased lucky hit chance on Stormhorn is to compensate for only having one projectile. Stormhorn sounds like it could be better for single target.

Calling Oaken focus the spin to win sorc build.
Gonna miss my frozen Orb builds but I sure do miss Ball Lightning & the season of blood meta. More Lightning Stonks sounds great
Forb is dead for now if they don’t buff the amulet enough. It got like 280% damage from CM alone lol
Would love an inferno build tbh!
It will be on every fire build. As for a dedicated one. Maybe
Gonna give Hydra inferno build a try been wanting hydra to work for such a long time now may be the time to be at least good with all these fire buffs and the familiar gloves.

I totally agree about frost builds. I didnt expect anything exciting. Ball lightning again, really? Definitely another shock skill season.
Personally, I prefer Ball Lightning over Chain Lightning at least. I hate the mana mini-game the pants had going. It just felt frustrating to play.
At least we haven’t played BL since S2
thanks

Looks interesting. But what I didn't get is, how the hell would you scale up to 4000% vulnerable damage? 😅

Thx. Decent changes to open up variety of builds available. Sorc was way too predictable and downright boring in season 6.
