I think the sound design is actually a lot better on the ERS-7. The 1000 has a lot of old royalty free stuff while the 7 has more original work and a funner more stylized bark. It's a shame they didn't bring back masaya matsuura for the 1000. The elements of the 7's design that leave part of it's expressions up to your imagination means in some ways it's more expressive and playful than the 1000 is.
you know what you should do? put two aibos (who cant see eachother) in a room and give one red socks and the other a red collar, just to see what happens. 'hey this ball keeps walking away'

The dance card only works for the 7. Data can't hear very well so the cards are super helpful when giving commands. Tazo can hear perfectly fine but he almost never listens to what I say lol

In some ways its a shame how tightly integrated Sony designed the Aibos rather than using commodity parts that could more easily be swapped.
Apple did the same and also have the best products in the world.
