I am a Scandnavian American who lives on the North Shore of Lake Superior, we can get fresh herring from Lake Superior all the time. But, I prefer the kippered herring, I often have it for lunch on a rye multigrain flat bread. Add a little fresh lemon juice right before eating, Or a bit of good mustard on the flatbread. A serving is only 150 cal. per can. And, the flat bread, Wassabrod, has 30 cal per serving, so three of the flat bread, and, the herring is under 250 cal. a perfect lunch.
Mashed sardines or herring make a fantastic spread on toast. I like to mix in hot sauce, minced olives, herbs, vinegar, etc. It’s healthier than tuna salad if you skip the mayo.
In the last six or seven years, I switched from a person that had meat or chicken at least once a day to where I rarely eat meat or chicken but have caned fish several times a week. It was a gradual process. Eventually, I discovered some recipes will that made the fish very tasty. The least expensive can fish is mackerel. For good reason. When you open up the can it's pretty ghastly. However, if you rinse off the canned mackerel and coat it with some Italian dressing and parsley flakes and onion powder, and put it in a Panini Grill for 10 minutes it becomes very tasty. For sardines, I just smash it up with a little bit of mayonnaise and onion powder and lemon and parsley flakes and maybe some pickle relish. This makes a great inexpensive and very quick to make spread . I also make fishcakes. I attached a little machine screw to the lid of a tuna fish can and use the can to help form the fish cake are patties. I take a bowl and add some canned fish with chopped-up vegetables and an egg and maybe a little cornmeal or oats and oil and spices and put it in a tuna fish can so it holds a nice shape and is easy to put in a frying pan or Panini Grill. If I add enough ingredients to the fishcakes most people don't know there's fish in them. Canned salmon tastes better than sardines or mackerel but it is a little more expensive. As far as kippers go they taste wonderful for breakfast with some eggs. If you don't like fish I think you just have not found the right recipe yet. I still like meat and chicken and turkey but I don't miss it. I have a recipe playlist in my channel where I have made many can fish recipes. Finally, I take cod liver oil every morning. I’m worried about cheap olive oil in the cans of fish. Is water packed better?
Mine are at number 810, God help the doctor said I'm prediabetic
I love herring, the tinned stuff, and sardines
Going to give this a try
Is Omega 3 being retained with dried fish? We have a lot of dried fish in the Philippines.
I love kippers but they contain lots and lots of salt!
I LOVE smoked Herring !
But can you get herring or sardines that aren't farmed with all the toxic stuff tgey spray in fish areas to keep parasites etc out of the fish. I even worry about Alaskan s wild salmon with all the radiation from Japan and they are pouring more into the pacific.
I love kippers but it smells the house out when I grill them :)) Was a favourite in my family long time ago. Perhaps I can convince my missus it's time for a comeback :))
Jug your kippers. No smell whatsoever.
I have it along with my eggs with a little bit of hot sauce and oatmeal.
Kipper style is delicious!
What about lowering alchol ? Beer/ wodka.
Dr. Brewer, are pickled herring an alternative to canned or smoked herring?
Same fish, same omega 3.Rollmop herrings, Bismark herrings, kippers, sardines, sardine pate etc, all very good for you and all very cheap to buy. I happily eat herrings in olive oil straight from the can, but they're great with salads or pasta.
I LOVE Kipper, Sardiens, Herring~!!!
Thank you, I'm on it!
Since my 30ties(or even prior?) I had high trigs. My blood sugar is fine and I am lean. I watch my sugar and carbs. Maybe its genetics
I think you're right, probably due to genetics.
How many hearing or sardines does a person need to eat?...
I love sardines and herring but hate Mackrel.
I found that I like herring better than sardines.
I really love canned herring.
Dr Dom D'Agostino, researcher in Keto, also eats a lot of sardine, so Dr Brewer's findings confirms that. He (Dr D'Agostino) says luckily he actually likes it. In one podcast he was saying how, when he travels, his suitcase has many tins of sardines, just in case he can't get them. He holds some record in deadlift while fasted, or something like that.
I love herring!
I like pickled herring but I think it has a lot of sugar in it.
Not the canned herring I eat.
Is Omega 3 being retained in fermented fish?
How often should a person eat herring?
I love sardines and will have to the herring.
- 🐟 I like the little cans of Mackerel in olive oil 👌
Me also James
How much, how often?
Can't . Uric acid levels gonna give me gout.
Any suggestions for people who can’t eat fish ?
A good quality over-the-counter fish oil from a reputable company. Jarrow NOW Foods Source Naturals and Doctor's Best just to name a few
There is a version of Horizon milk with DHA.
At lower doses, the risk of developing AFib was slight, but the risk was greater in the higher dose groups, Albert says. People who took more than a gram per day had a 49% greater risk of developing AFib. That's compared to only 12% of patients who took one gram or less of the supplement each day.Jun 30, 2022
Rip Alabama Gardner. U sounded like him though lol

Hi, can you explain more to me please. Took 1g of what? Sardines or omega 3 or garlic or? And what’s the name of the study you mentioned? Thanks so much if you can answer me!
How do you get your omega three tested??
Is the triglyceride/hdl ratio reliable enough to gauge insulin resistance or are there other markers should include?
Specific markers for insulin resistance would be a fasting insulin blood test and and A1c test.
@@kaypie3112 so yes or no on Try/hdl?
Omega 3 supplementation may cause atrial fibrillation
Where did you hear that?
@@sixpackbinky there are clinical trials you may Google and find it

I love sardines, eat a can most every day, my triglycerides are 45, hdl 100, ldl 109 . and my doctor wants to put me on statins.
typical quack in the usa
If you get Apo B and Apo A1, I will bet your numbers for those would be within the low risk range and take the wind out of the doctor's "sales"(instead of sails). But alas, it requires an upfront paywall.
I have an LDL of 140 but my Apo B/A1 ratio is 0.71. Apolipoprotein B of 108 is only moderate risk. HDL 54.
Avoid stating and go for natural
By the way carbs including cocktails ,liquor even beer, soda ,flour can all raise your triglycerides. Hubby has good bloodwork. Eats a handful of almonds daily and only one meal a day. But I think some of his is good genes
Great video. Thank you.
Uh, no- sorry Doc- can't do it.
Money, money, money. Ok?
I bought these vegan omega-3 gel pills, they are made from the plants fish eat, rather than being made from the fish. I do the same thing with chicken and beef ~ rather than eat the meat, I eat the plants that those animals eat. Best wishes and good health to you all.
Cattle eat grass, so you eat grass?
But you can’t process greens like a herbivore not even close. Not to mention the greens your eating are mostly from soils that are already depleted of minerals. Making you nutrient deficient.
You should probably be told that chickens love meat. In fact they’ll take that over grains or greens. Chickens are voracious little killers.
I turned to vegeterian from 2011. Never had to visit a Doctor ever since. All my blood report normal
But, to some of us, life isn’t worth living if we have to eat herring, kippers and sardines. Or, what if you lived in the African desert or Amazon forest and never saw them?
How about cod liver?
Good
like i always say...smoke me a kipper...ill be back for breakfast...u lookin good doc
👍👍
Lots of fluff with a minute of valuable info.
OAG👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I hope there are no sardines or herring in heaven.
If there are, I won’t eat them!!

I prefer my carnivore doctors!
