People are often surprised that Grian is so good at story telling, but they forget that he is one of the creators of Wynncraft. He is amazing at telling stories and this HC lore sounds awesome so far!
i first watched grian when he did the roleplay with sam gladiator and taurtis. obviously that takes a level of creativity and story making aswell! im so excited to see what he has for us
Let's also remember that Grian already DID such a scenario back in season 6, when he traveled to the past to get his stuff back when it was stollen. The man is clearely capable of writting far fetched stories like that.
A lot of people are like “I love Grian and his videos they’re so cool” but very few people actually speak about how creative and clever he is as a content creator. The way he forms cohesion between his videos is something very few creators come close to.
Nah, I'd say a TON of content creators have mastered that. It's the editing and scripture style Grian possesses that makes him so distinct in my op. He's been at this a long time, and has developed his own trademark stuff, which is cool to look back on in his earlier vids
I like how he always manages to mess with people in fairly innocent ways. And how he comes up with "one big thing" for every season. Sometimes multiple. The civil war, the mayoral election, the upside-down, the mycelium resistance, the sewer community, the tree battle, Tegg, and now trying to get into Mumbo's vault. And outside of hermitcraft he also does the "life" seasons. They add a nice little extra to the series and often include a lot of other hermits as well, basically providing himself and the participating hermits with content and an emerging side-story line. And whenever Grian goes to Scar or Mumbo for "an idea" you know it's going to be entertaining. :P
9:46 this bit about mumbo sharing grians soul, keeping him from fully dying also sounds awfully similar to the concept of the new “double life” series that grian made
also also also Martyn encounters a Listener in a previous life series, who are associated with the watchers. Grian became a watcher in one world (the Evo SMP)
I would definitely like to take a chance to point directly at the end of season 8 and when Grian was looking across all the stars and pondering whether they were alternate worlds. I would also like to suggest that when grian fell, that was the grian who thought he was about to fall into the void and die in season 8, instead being brought here, somewhere else, and not dying when he fell.
So that's how Mumbo is the richest hermit. Nothing's more priceless than a soul. That being said, I can't imagine Mumbo angst. I can't wait to see how this unfolds.
A part of me is honestly hoping that the rift is part of the evo watcher lore. Ever since Martyn resurfaced the grian watcher story, Im now hoping that the "rift" is just a watcher gate way that causes anomalies. Based on Martyn's last life ending, the watchers seems displeased that grian joined them in the game instead of just watching. So in turn, they opened a rift in grian's base and out of the rift came the entity(I know the entity came first, but since building take a lot of time and tell their own story, I like to think the entity came out from the rift and crawled around the server to keep a watch on grian and the other hermits[especially the ones in last life])
I feel like the gtwscar's voice on the last part of that episode where grian falls to a hole that leads straight into 'the rift' without dying, is actually a voice of a watcher trying to communicate with him and luring him back to become a watcher. The idea of this comes from martyn's stream on his last life characters' lore where he mentioned that the voice of the watcher that is communicating to him sounded like someone who is close to him, and we were listening to it from grians' pov
There has been a lot of weird Smp stuff that seems to be about the Watchers recently like how Watcher Pearl was implied in Sausage's end of the Afterlife smp
My theory is that he’s going for a different execution of what they did with Season 8. I’ve seen some clips of Xisuma saying that the story-driven nature was a bit too heavy handed in Season 8 (or something along those lines), so this all might be Grian trying to incorporate a story with a little bit more balance between story-driven moments and actually SMP Minecraft
Its most likely a mix of how they did lore in previous seasons, and how they did lore in season 8. In previous seasons they made their lore based on what was happening in the server, it was rarely scripted. And in season 8 it was mostly scripted. Its most likely a mix of scripted and non-scripted
@@arcanedreamer1640 Ah, okay, my mistake. I still do think they all leaned into a story-driven concept in that season with the whole “Moon Big” thing, so that might be what he’s trying to work from? Thanks for the info by the way, that clarifies a bit
Grian learned quite a bit from Scar, who regularly talks about connecting your builds with a backstory. So to me, this is just Grian trying that out too.
@@DiamondDev45 I think he’s doing what Martin did in last life, having an open ended story that can be incorporated into anything via editing while letting the server progress naturally.
I've always considered Grian a very creative individual, this video executes perfectly what kind of creative man Grian truly is. There's a reason he's the most popular Hermit.
Personally, I just hope Grian's haunted mansion from season 6 somehow makes its way back with the rift. It was in season 7, where Doc and BDubs used it as their starter base. Also it was in season 8 in the ship where the Hermits were in stasis chambers. It's just a simple house, but was built/rebuilt/modified by the most Hermits in the entirety of Hermitcraft.
the blinding was because of one of Scar's Elven Surprises though? It's a renamed suspicious stew, much like how the Elven Kisses are Chorus Fruit, and the Elven cookies are actually golden carrots A few other Hermits bought that cookie, and it gave the exact same effect, along with a bowl. edit; nvm I see how it was changed, it was only a couple items so I didn'r realize it at first, just ignore me lol
Yeah as the other comments say. It's like in Season 6 where he had a bit with Chorus Fruits TPing him to the Shopping District and back, but the chorus fruit numbers would never correspond to what it should. It's just an imperfection, roll with it.
If you go to 36:12 on Grian’s last episode of Season 8, Scar himself asks if the blue particles of the void are “different worlds (seasons) they’ll travel to”, which is such a big hint to this lore
Honestly if Grian is going for some crazy elaborate lore like this I wouldn't be complaining AT ALL. Idk if I'd like it more if each season is like alternate timelines he's hopping between or if it's more like the past lives Scar mentions meaning he's time traveling, but like the rift dragging pieces of other realities/lives into this season is a really cool theory!
If this is time travel, then that means the rift is a time rift, and that constitutes a dangerous planar anomaly. Thankfully it is not an imminent danger, as there is only 1 known rift like this.
There is a watcher lore already this will just add to the pile especially with the weird portals and The purple on the rift I hope martin comes next season we already have pearl Grian empire
Didn't some of the hermits time travel in season 6? Im pretty certain they went back to an way older version of minecraft and created a butterfly effect with area 77 and the hippies. So time travel is possible!
A lot people probably just think that all of this is a coincidence but honestly, it might actually be true because theres no way all of these things happened for no reason and grian even said himself this season that he wanted to really add more story to his builds and although this theory seem REALLY far fetched, i honestly think its possible
If Grian and Mumbo are actually starting a dark lore story that plays into both base designs I am ALL for it. Can't wait to see these two face whatever's coming.
I am so glad someone is covering this! I feel like we as a community have largely noticed all these strange happenings, but we've collectively just sort of shrugged and went "Grian's planning something here!" Without really delving into the deeper ways that everything might connect. Personally I've been trying not to think about it too much because I know it will drive me crazy, but I'm very excited to see where the story goes!
You know HC lore is good when someone can make an entire video on it. That aside, great video! Editing was top notch and you're very good at what you do.
@@Ani I found more lore after scar gets his elytra he talks about his course fruit and how much he loves it and mentions finding a basement under grians base with them that he didn't know about
@@TCPlayzYT something I didn't notice before but if the lore is about taking stuff from the past then I have something so sometimes scar doesn't do time lapse instead he spins around and says SPINNING IT INTO REALITY that might just be for fun but who knows
This is pretty much confirmed with the last two episodes with grumbot from a different reality coming through the rift, literally called “Grumbot Prime”
The Hermit Multiverse is all different seasons they will travel to, and some are different versions. For example, they're could be a version where HC season 2 is still going on. And if you watch Grian's latest episode of season 9, The Return, Grumbot says he is from a reality where Mumbo Became mayor in season seven. It works kind of like the MCU multiverse with infinite possibilities. The rift is just a portal through time and space to these realities. The Entity is from some version or future season of Hermit Craft. This explains how Grumbot came through the rift, from his version of season seven. Mumbo's soul collided with Grian's soul because of the multiverse and the Rift. That's what i think anyway
Grian is actually the only reason I picked up HermitCraft. Yes, the first ever video I accidentally clicked on and got hooked in immediately was Mumbo's video, but Grian was the *actual,* actual reason I had an urge to watch this series. That's another reason why I have only watched seasons 6 and above. Also wow his lore in Hermitcraft is crazy... Also, that is an edit about a year later, but I just *HAVE* to point out how dang close you hit the speculation of ''A mumbo from a different reality coming out of the portal'' thing, *EVEN DOWNRIGHT NAILING THE NAME ''MUMBO PRIME!''* It was Grumbot from another reality instead of Mumbo himself, but it's still awfully close.
same, saw his s7 netherite throne vid, never really saw grian as much other than that great tips and tricks in building youtuber, the next day i speedran 30 episodes to catch up with the vid i watched first, later on watch s6
I would think you were reading way too much into a simple content creator, but Grain was the one to do the whole time machine arc back in Season 6. That was so insane I might actually believe what you're saying a bit. It is extremely strange that Mumbo is still wearing that skin and that he's switched accounts. I'd normally write it off as technical difficulties, but I think he would have _at least_ mentioned it once by now if that was the answer. You make a great point, they're definitely up to something and you are probably the first one to see it! *P. S.* There was another time-lapse in season 7 that Grain forgot to record, along with another being sad montage.
"Simple content creator" Grian's done so much and has been so creative in the stories he tells though and he can be extremely subtle while doing so, so can Mumbo. I don't think he's as simple you think, especially because he loves messing with us he probably smiles every time he sees someone notice something he tried to make subtle xD This theory is out there but that's what theories are for.
I wonder if that "bringing back stuff from previous seasons" ties into a lot of the other hermits stuff as well, such as the moss o menos shop being "totally not aquatown" and the "totally not hermit challenges" as said word for word by the hermits. It seems to be a pattern that fits well with your theory.
Lore aside, I love Grian for his creativity and content. He's known for starting wars and such, but it leads to amazing storylines and interesting content for all the hermits. He knows how to take lead and is quick in making decisions. I really wouldn't be surprised if there was actual hidden lore that he's planned out because that's what you can expect from Grian. The unexpected.
I like how the lore is incorporated with tiny easter eggs so you can still enjoy hermitcraft on a "surface level" Like i didn't even think about how bdubs or impulse were part of the lore, i thought some hermits just decided to give an origin story to their bases ahah
with the 10 year anniversary having just happened, and many older hermits revisiting the old worlds, I wouldn't doubt some of this lore at all... especially if we eventually see certain old builds show up randomly, be it incorporated into Grians's builds, or out in the wild, perse, for someone to stumble upon and be confused as to why something from season 4 was there. also, until now, I never even realized that Mumbo's skin had the waffle. I noticed the name lol but not the waffle at all until it was mentioned!
I love how this seems to be very much what is happening. Like, Grian mentioned a few times now that his plans for this season are "very nostalgia based" (though, as someone who was apparently watching him for 7 years now, I can't help but wish it were nostalgia for his older series. like, what wouldn't I give for even a passing reference to evo or something, especially since the vibes do fit, at least for the fanon filling in the blanks, and CCs have shown multiple times that they can listen to us, but I do know its unlikely... even though Martyn did make an evo reference in last life... one can dream...)
Opening this rift to "bring in inspiration and storylines from other realities (previous seasons)" would also be an excellent way to celebrate the HermitCraft 10 year anniversary 10:56
He did confirm that there was something inside of the riff. BUT he also said that neither Mumbo or anyone else is involved in his lore. He also said that his lore doesn't have to do anything with EVO or any other of his projects. (Information gathered in MCC pride yesterday)
Just a bit of an update, look at what came out of the rift in recent episodes. Spoiler warning for newer episodes!! Grumbot came out of the portal, but it came from a different timeline. Back in S7 when Mumbo ran for president, he didn’t win. In the timeline this Grumbot came from, he did. So what if the rift goes to alternate timelines of previous seasons? Like you said with Mumbo? The rift brought back a version of Mumbo where he still had part of Grian’s soul, and now it’s brought back a version of Grumbot where Mumbo won the election and became the mayor!
yeah needless to say i think we know what the rift was made for lore wise now (unless something else happens with it whenever grian uploads the next episode)
Now we know that the rift definitely doesn’t just go between hermitcraft timelines but any other smp as well because of the empires crossover but now it looks all dead and stuff
If I remember correctly didn't Mumbo say something about not letting anybody even his viewers see what's in the vault? I remember it was odd him telling Grian he can have whatever he wants if he can figure out how to get in. This video blew my mind I've seen most of the stuff in this video and never even put it all together now that I think about it something trippy HAS to be going on. Cool video!
The most crazy and Farfetch'd theory I can add is for their 10 year anniversary or more specifically the 10th season, maybe doing a MCU style, he'll assemble all the past hermits for something. Though Xisuma said that they'll reduce the lore part down a bit, a little wouldn't be bad especially for their 10th seaosn 😉 EDIT: The probsbility of this will be downright low, practically impossible unless the hermits have talked and staged all of this just for their 10th season
When Grian did not die I was exited for storyline. What If Grian finds a past where Mumbo is mayor. Mumbo Jumbo would team up With Grian To bring back season 6. Grumbot. But Grumbot is evil
This video did a great job at the more subtle parts of Grian's HC9 lore. However, it's worth noting that he's been responsible for nearly all the major "arcs" on the server. The Civil War in Season 6, The Turf War in Season 7, all the Boatem lore in Season 8, this lore in Season 9, and now his lore in Season 10. He's really been at the center of the server and might be replacing Xisuma as "the admin"
I think they (i.e the hermits) realised that the old format of youtube, that is personality driven is no longer the 'meta'. UA-cam's meta has LONG shifted to content based vids, as in WHAT is in the video. Earlier, people were fine with watching a video just for the person making the video, but now mostly people watch the video FOR the video. Thats why they are shifting to more defined, roleplay-esq styles of content. They still keep the spirit of HC alive, but they brainstorm and plan stuff a bit more
False's prank on the skeleton head being a call back to s2 also supports the idea that season jumping shenanigans are infecting s9. Also, HC being 10y/o is a obvious milestone to celebrate with looking back. Perhaps Joe's video (w/ cub) looking at old season stuff may hold clues as well.
Is it possible to connect this to Doc and Ren's story last season? I know Ren is still continuing the story somewhat and it'll be interesting if the three of them has planned something out
Didn't even think about that. It's possible the crazy stuff they did last season has a hand to play in this. Just thought about it while typing this that would make sense if that building Grian built is based on whatever that thing was called in season 8 Doc and Ren terrified everyone with..
I believe the "coming darkness" referenced in ren's episode 1 is related to grian's lore personally. Especially since he has seemed to have not focused on actually continuing it yet, he might be waiting for a specific moment...
Well we can say that Grian isn't just a human being, he's a intergalactic shape-shifting being who has inner powers which are slowly showing themselves
It’s funny to see this after season 9 with Mumbo having left for 6 months right after his video and the Mumbo jumbo account having been lost due to the migration problems, along with the rift just resulting in grumbot being brought back and the crossover event. It’s also interesting how the entity was kind of forgotten about after a while
This is such a great video, very well put together! Though, I’d like to mention something I noticed? the episode where GTW Ska reads landscaping your mind at the very end wasn’t originally planned out (I think). Grian’s MCC stream the day before the episode came out implies that it had been a last minute decision made on that stream. I think he actually pushed the episode back to add the black screen with GTW Ska reading? He got the idea from Scar reading it again on stream and decided to add it. Of course, I could be wrong and just mixed up some parts of the stream. It’s also possible it is a part of the “Grian lore,” just it was a last minute decision to add it. Either way, just wanted to mention it! Great video!
Yeah, you’re right. It was added last minute thanks to the stream. I think it still has lore implications though, considering what had happened before cutting to it. Still seems purposeful, even if it was last minute
Reminds me of how scar and bdubs have a "not aquatown" town, lot of inspo from aqua town there too. Which plays into this theory well, maybe they are dabling a bit too, or they just like that style of building and it just happened, but still really cool how im seeing this theory play into a lot of what some of the hermits are doing.
The evo smp's martyn lore vid we see that the listener answer martyn's question of "why were you so set on Grian?" with "hm, him. he was never meant to be there.. He was only meant to watch." indicating that grian turn into a watcher during his finale was most likely canon. and during the collab series][Hermitcraft 9: Episode 26 - THE MINECRAFT MULTIVERSE] with empires ,Grians so called power as said abt reality hopping could be seen, as hermitcraft is entirely transported to empires and visa versa this was only possible cuz of The rift activated by Grian the entity could be a mere vessel to access the powers, the broken moon portal also looks like a ref from hc8 where Grian kept the key moment [a self made theory that the watcher destroyed HC8 to warn Grian of the destruction they can cause because Grian isnt a following the watcher way] and making it so that the life series, the pure amount of chaos and challenges could be Grian's way of sufficing the watcher needs? so maybe the reality shifting is a part of being a watcher?
What if... And I know it's a long shot but what if it was somehow connected to 3rd Life Season 3? Probably not but with Martin's lore with that series I wouldn't be too suprised
@Jr837 Martyn is a member of last life. His gamer tag is inthelittlewood, and that’s also his username. He was also in evo with Grian, and is the really the o Lu member of last life who does lore. He’s also freakin awesome.
he forgot to turn off the chat in the timelapse of making the nether portal which is connected to the rift and he forgot to turn the chat off in the past so maybe that's a way of him saying that the rift is for traveling back in time!
I think that the new mumbo is perhaps the surviving one from season 9s Apocalypse as opposed to the actual mumbo. Hence the name and the transfer of a part of grains soul and as well perhaps that is how grian was able to find this mumbo. Because a part of him exists within
This is really interesting! I love how you pick up on the finest details such as Mumbo's username. I'm really intrigued to find out if Grian will get part of his soul back!
There's even more to back this season hopping theory up! In Grian's season 9 time-lapse music by Jono, "Portal", it has a mix of older themes related to grian, such as Jono's grian time-lapse songs "Block by block", "sunbeam" and the hermitcraft theme from the end of season 8, (There may be others like "work" in there too that I didn't notice) showing how grians past is coming from the portal. I love how grian is mixing lore with a open-ended server like hermitcraft. It makes watching his videos very fun to wait and see what happens next. It's also really cool how many other hermits are part of it, some indirectly, as it feels like it may be a serverwide story that grian has the honor of starting.
I was extremely skeptical at first, but this is all actually starting to make sense, and it all comes together when you consider that Grian's "Dwayne" Rock base is going to have features of all different styles of building in it!
other people have probably said this, but I want to speak about it as well! the “other lives” are definitely other hermitcraft seasons. the “past loves” is most likely a reference to double life, where two people are “soulmates” sharing health/damage/deaths. generally, people think of the term soulmate as a romantic term, but platonic soulmates, (if you believe in soulmates) are a thing as well. platonic love just takes the place of romantic love, which could mean that’s what “past loves” is referring to.
Ok, this is an incredible theory, and if this all turns out to be true, what an awesome idea for a story. Definitely going to be keeping a close eye on his series!
This theory is now even more possible bc grain just said himself during pride mcc after questioned for hints for the hc lore that we should look into the rift
i think that this theory is absolutely wonderful, especially because we have seen season hopping before. in the only(iirc) time we’ve seen scar do actually magic during season 7 when he sent i think cub back to retrieve welsknight from where he got left behind, and sort of with ren and doc at the beginning of season 8 traveling separately from the rest of the hermits because they got stuck in season 7
Wow. This video is amazing at the least. Also, we can see that how much effort he puts into each of his videos as in the start the episode was 9th, which was uploaded a good time ago. This tells us that he puts so much time so that we, The viewers get a quality product at the cost of our precious time. Kudos!
I doubt that Scar's audio ook has someething to do with it. In a MCC the day before the episode with that sponshorship was uploaded, Grian talked a bit about how funny the sponsorship was and that he actually had Scar record a couple more "chapters" that he didn't use in the sponsorship himself. Eventually during that MCC Grian decided to put one of those extra recordings at the end of the episode just for some fun. It was not originally planned to be in the episode, so I don't think it has something to do with this "story".
Grian not trying to clutch or something while falling into the beacon hole could be explained by the fact he's not set up to clutch here- he hasn't got a water bucket or a boat on his hotbar, and he's in third person, which would just make everything harder. However, that's mostly disproven by the fact that he's wearing an elytra. He could have opened it and clutched with it pretty easily. Also I find the way he walks into the hole into the first place really unnatural for him- I've watched a lot of Grian outros, and I've never seen him wobble around in third person that much. It's almost like he's doing it on purpose!
Amazing video! A lot of this is really interesting. A couple things I've figured out/heard since Grian's video was released: - The blindness was caused by Scar's cookie which Grian ate- it's retextured suspicious stew and has been shown to be the one that causes blindness in videos such as Pearl's- so it's probable that it's unrelated to the lore imo -It's been calculated, with feather falling the drop into the cave shouldn't have killed him. Obviously, this doesn't mean it's not lore that "the rift saved him", he can still imply that, but imo it feels like those were just filler words to say before he notices the creepy rift noises which are... definitely more important. But it still could be, I'm not sure! -It's probable, in my opinion, that Landscaping your mind is sadly unrelated to the lore - mainly because the majority of it was in the ad section and the part that wasn't was added on at the last second - which we know because of a conversation Scar and Grian had after mcc the day before the video released. Scar did the whole "Landscaping Your Mind" speech (the one not part of the advert) on stream during the chill time after MCC, and Grian was like "oh that's actually better than the one we did for the actual advert... I kinda want to include that in the video" and so they decided to record that part after MCC and Grian edited it in last second over a dark screen. However, it's still such cool imagery, lore or not, and I love to see the theories! I think the ones about Mumbo in particular are super interesting, considering that there definitely was a mustache behind the rift, and soon after, Mumbo-without-the-Jumbo came back from his break! It reminds me of the Taurtis-summoner from Evo (not saying it's related to Evo- I really don't think it is considering that Grian hasn't mentioned it in years, although I'm excited to be proven wrong if it is!) The waffle, additionally, is very interesting, I didn't know that he changed skin before he came back! (Does anyone know if he did it *right* before he came back, or did he change it in like . season 8? Because that makes a huge difference to whether it's relevant or not) The architecture is also super interesting! That person is right, it really does look like previous seasons. It could also be Grian's building habits, though, so I'm trying not to commit to any one idea. This has been kind of sceptical, but overall he definitely is doing lore of *some* kind- (flesh entity, rift making noises). I just think that, following the pattern of what kind of lore Grian has done in the past, it may not be what we expect! However, I'm not Grian, and this *is* very different from a lot of what he's done in the past. And I'm super excited to see where this goes. Also, I just want to say- I love the fandom's Landscaping Your Mind/Watcher interpretations, they are so cool. As was this video! Amazing job. Lmk if there's anything I missed! (Edit-formatting)
I feel like there's a very solid chance this WAS planned, but then it didn't happen/went on hold because IRL Mumbo took like a year off from the server. So instead they did all the stuff with Grumbot and the Empires Crossover to fill the gap, but that now sort of still fits because that's still all alternate universe shit! Grian is so damn cool!
I would also like to point out the fact that Grumbot has now spawned out of the Rift, and there may be a slight possibility that it will only go further back in time from here, much like Grian's mega base this season going from past to future. Sooner or later, we will start seeing weirder things, and for those of you who have seen Evo SMP or tuned in to the Watcher AU, references like those could come in just a couple months from now. And let's not negate the potential of a *person* using the Rift, or coming out of it...
I am a bit new to Hermitcraft (only started watching in the end of the last season) and never really though of Hermitcraft as having a lot of lore. Sure, there was the big moon but for some reason I though it was just a really big bit. This is really interesting.
Even though the season has now ended this was an amazing video and I like the thought that grian new what was going to happen when falling is because in Last Life Joel shot him of of Mumbos ghast farm and Grians Limited Life season ended with him falling off of Skynet.
I absolutely love your theories and I hope they come true too! But I feel like some areas are a bit patchy a little bit of a brainstorm even. But I know that more evidence will come and that’s why it’s hard to make theories so early on and it’s honestly amazing how you’ve been able to make one based on just that evidence! Good work!! :D
One thing I saw, the script of Ani that he wrote in 0:23 isn't actually what he said, so here's what it said: As of writing this video, Grian just dropped the most fire mixtape of all time. Called Hot Beetz, it's a direct diss to Mumbo's potato antics last se(ason)
A strange coincidence I remember your channel and come to check it out again today, as grian just uploaded on hermitcraft today and the main focus of the video was an old robot form a previous series (previous life?) came from the rift and the rest of the video was letting other things tell him what to do. Seems a lot like what you were talking about here, and very related to that sponsorship but with scar and mumbo!
This was made a whole year ago?! Wow that was pretty good future telling lmao I actually rlly enjoyed that and lore is so much more interesting than I thought
Another interesting thing about him falling into the rift cave that makes it so much more intentional than an accident is that Grian **always** panics to rocket when he notices himself falling from a great height. He's not known as one of the best MCYT fliers for nothing, he KNOWS how to save himself! So the fact that he fell, let it happen, didn't move a single inch or change the camera...full intent was there bc he's just??? Amazing at crafting these stories. Some of Grian's older fans may remember his EVO series. Newer fans see his Last/Third/Double Life series....this man is a storyteller at heart and the way he uses Minecraft as the medium to share his ideas is SO amazing. Sure there's coincidences and accidents here and there that he works around or works into his ideas but he's thought through so much and it shows with every new piece of info. I'm extremely excited to see where his story this season is going EDIT: Another thing I recall seeing quite recently is from a different hermit, Rendog! Who basically started saying on stream that there is a multiverse of MC servers, and each new season of HC(barring 8) is a completely different planet in the Hermitcraft solar system. So this "Season hopping" may not be entirely dimensional but also planetary. I do think that Grian isn't only pulling from other HC seasons however, I'm sure there's plenty of hints from his other series littered around, or about to be littered around if things grow more unstable....
thank you for putting this all together - i wouldn’t even have noticed a LARGE majority of this storyline without people like you who put so much effort into things like this!!!
Something that seems interesting to me at least is that the portals have nearly always been a way between seasons or updates and such. The evo updates, season 5 to season 6, the infinity portal in area 77, and the certain ways each member reaches season 9. It's not out of the realm of possibility the rift will be an important key to getting to the next seasons.
i think it has a very strangely things-y vibe. like the entity (that kinda looks like the mind flayer) is controlling him to build the rift or portal or whatever. idk just a little theory ig
People are often surprised that Grian is so good at story telling, but they forget that he is one of the creators of Wynncraft. He is amazing at telling stories and this HC lore sounds awesome so far!

i first watched grian when he did the roleplay with sam gladiator and taurtis. obviously that takes a level of creativity and story making aswell! im so excited to see what he has for us
@@lemonsareberries7193 Omg yes! Those were the days, loved the roleplays
Let's also remember that Grian already DID such a scenario back in season 6, when he traveled to the past to get his stuff back when it was stollen. The man is clearely capable of writting far fetched stories like that.
I’m a new Grian viewer, but even I can imagine Grian doing something like this. He just would.
Lmao I started watching in the middle of that whole thing and I was so confused
what episode was that? cant remember that happening at all
I'm re-watching season 6 right now and I just got to that part
He loses his diamonds in episode 75 and travels back in time to get them in episode 79
Calling him cool is just saying all you said but in short.
I got scared for a second, I thought something was wrong and we shouldn't call him cool because of the wrong thing.
He's not creative. His community is. None of his ideas are his own.
9:46 this bit about mumbo sharing grians soul, keeping him from fully dying also sounds awfully similar to the concept of the new “double life” series that grian made
…..you are….extremely smart
…..Oh.
O h n o .
also also also Martyn encounters a Listener in a previous life series, who are associated with the watchers. Grian became a watcher in one world (the Evo SMP)
Kind of. in double life, HP is shared, so if one person goes down, their soulmate goes down with them
Wait so technically that means grian, mumbo and scar all share one life!???
I would definitely like to take a chance to point directly at the end of season 8 and when Grian was looking across all the stars and pondering whether they were alternate worlds. I would also like to suggest that when grian fell, that was the grian who thought he was about to fall into the void and die in season 8, instead being brought here, somewhere else, and not dying when he fell.
OMG I WANT THIS SO MUCH
So that's how Mumbo is the richest hermit. Nothing's more priceless than a soul.
That being said, I can't imagine Mumbo angst. I can't wait to see how this unfolds.
Nooooo not mumbo to! There is so much grian angst (fanart, fanfic, etc…) that it’s often just shortened to griangst
@@beecryptic3059
You mean lengthened? Neither Grian nor angst is shorter by calling it Griangst.
@@mrblackkai your right, but I was saying that you can get rid of three space by writing griangst instead of grian angst
No, Mumbo is the richest Hermit because he has the soul of one of the previous top Hermits based on diamonds
Mmmm if you cant imagine mumbo angst youve never seen the ao3 tags
A part of me is honestly hoping that the rift is part of the evo watcher lore. Ever since Martyn resurfaced the grian watcher story, Im now hoping that the "rift" is just a watcher gate way that causes anomalies. Based on Martyn's last life ending, the watchers seems displeased that grian joined them in the game instead of just watching. So in turn, they opened a rift in grian's base and out of the rift came the entity(I know the entity came first, but since building take a lot of time and tell their own story, I like to think the entity came out from the rift and crawled around the server to keep a watch on grian and the other hermits[especially the ones in last life])
Evo season 2 or, more likely, last life season 3
@@Login2play last life season 3 is confirmed to be happening, so it’ll probably be there
Honestly I'm here for the watcher lore XD
I've fallen far too deep into that rabbit hole lmao
To clarify, Xisuma was speaking of the story-driven nature of his own HC videos, not that of the server as a whole
Mumbo has more subs
Personally, I just hope Grian's haunted mansion from season 6 somehow makes its way back with the rift. It was in season 7, where Doc and BDubs used it as their starter base. Also it was in season 8 in the ship where the Hermits were in stasis chambers. It's just a simple house, but was built/rebuilt/modified by the most Hermits in the entirety of Hermitcraft.
It’s weird how Grian’s hot bar changes right before the blinding incident and the soup or blinding solution just kind of appears
yes you are right, he did it intentionally
Bro, it’s lore, ain’t everything gonna be perfect, you know the intentions so just role with it
the blinding was because of one of Scar's Elven Surprises though? It's a renamed suspicious stew, much like how the Elven Kisses are Chorus Fruit, and the Elven cookies are actually golden carrots
A few other Hermits bought that cookie, and it gave the exact same effect, along with a bowl.
edit; nvm I see how it was changed, it was only a couple items so I didn'r realize it at first, just ignore me lol
@@QuietFlutterShy he went to grab the soup for the blinding effect hence a golden carrot missing lol it's probably not that deep
Yeah as the other comments say. It's like in Season 6 where he had a bit with Chorus Fruits TPing him to the Shopping District and back, but the chorus fruit numbers would never correspond to what it should. It's just an imperfection, roll with it.
If you go to 36:12 on Grian’s last episode of Season 8, Scar himself asks if the blue particles of the void are “different worlds (seasons) they’ll travel to”, which is such a big hint to this lore
that makes sense
I clicked the time and i skipped the video 💀
I DIDNT EVEN WATCH THAT FAR THANK GOODNESS YOU WERE HERE TO TELL ME THERE WAS MORE
You should see Doc's video then, has a different ending
And then when he turns around at 36:53, there are purple (nether portal) particles, which could be indicating that it's the other side of the Rift.
So time travel is possible!
honestly yeah I really hope they continue this its really entertaining to find all the secrets in these episodes
It ended up being the portal to empires
HE IS always planning something. How could you not remember that lol.
You know HC lore is good when someone can make an entire video on it. That aside, great video! Editing was top notch and you're very good at what you do.
Much appreciated!

I had the same experience, I fell in love with hermitcraft thanks to grian

the "rift crash" you mentioned due to grian getting his soul back also could be a way of setting up the 1.19 update!
*P. S.* There was another time-lapse in season 7 that Grain forgot to record, along with another being sad montage.
i think that one was his footage disappearing
GRAIN?? WHO IS THIS BREAD IMPOSTER
his footage got corrupted in the s7 sad montage
"Simple content creator" Grian's done so much and has been so creative in the stories he tells though and he can be extremely subtle while doing so, so can Mumbo. I don't think he's as simple you think, especially because he loves messing with us he probably smiles every time he sees someone notice something he tried to make subtle xD This theory is out there but that's what theories are for.
*who is this Grain character you’re talking about*
Kind of funny cos im watching this in the future:The next episode or so has Grumbot saying "I COME FROM THE UNIVERSE WHERE MUMBO WAS MAYOR"
same me just knowing about the crossover and stuff
I like how the lore is incorporated with tiny easter eggs so you can still enjoy hermitcraft on a "surface level"
Like i didn't even think about how bdubs or impulse were part of the lore, i thought some hermits just decided to give an origin story to their bases ahah
with the 10 year anniversary having just happened, and many older hermits revisiting the old worlds, I wouldn't doubt some of this lore at all... especially if we eventually see certain old builds show up randomly, be it incorporated into Grians's builds, or out in the wild, perse, for someone to stumble upon and be confused as to why something from season 4 was there.
also, until now, I never even realized that Mumbo's skin had the waffle.
It's interesting watching this after the Empires/Hermitcraft crossover
ikr
I love has Grian just somehow manages to become the cause of all the problems and lore
Opening this rift to "bring in inspiration and storylines from other realities (previous seasons)" would also be an excellent way to celebrate the HermitCraft 10 year anniversary 10:56
Well, now I'm slightly scared of Grian and his waffle. I really hope that he sees this video and decides to play into it.
Cool video!

Perhaps Joe's video (w/ cub) looking at old season stuff may hold clues as well.
accepting his fate is literally what made him do that clutch in sky battle mcc and i love that xD
I found it interesting that Doc specifically mentioned Grian while making his elevator. Yeah, he got stuck in the perimeter… but it interested me!

It’s also interesting how the entity was kind of forgotten about after a while
I love Grians lore its so interesting, and this I like this theory
@@CedarSpring147 Agreed!
OH YEAH YOURE RIGHT, This is giving me goosebumps
The evo smp's martyn lore vid we see that the listener answer martyn's question of
"why were you so set on Grian?" with
"hm, him. he was never meant to be there.. He was only meant to watch."
indicating that grian turn into a watcher during his finale was most likely canon.
and during the collab series][Hermitcraft 9: Episode 26 - THE MINECRAFT MULTIVERSE] with empires ,Grians so called power as said abt reality hopping could be seen, as hermitcraft is entirely transported to empires and visa versa
this was only possible cuz of The rift activated by Grian
the entity could be a mere vessel to access the powers, the broken moon portal also looks like a ref from hc8 where Grian kept the key moment [a self made theory that the watcher destroyed HC8 to warn Grian of the destruction they can cause because Grian isnt a following the watcher way] and making it so that the life series,
the pure amount of chaos and challenges could be Grian's way of sufficing the watcher needs?
so maybe the reality shifting is a part of being a watcher?
Finding this a year later and seeing how many crazy coincidences there were makes me kinda sad this wasn't all some big plan

Thank you for pointing the lore of hermitcraft out,
Grian finally gets his spotlight,
I needed this,
Thank you,
Just thank you
This makes even more sense after the Empires crossover. The rift is literally a one-way inter-dimensional portal.
I came here from the year 2024. the rift Grian made was a plot device for a crossover
other people have probably said this, but I want to speak about it as well! the “other lives” are definitely other hermitcraft seasons. the “past loves” is most likely a reference to double life, where two people are “soulmates” sharing health/damage/deaths. generally, people think of the term soulmate as a romantic term, but platonic soulmates, (if you believe in soulmates) are a thing as well. platonic love just takes the place of romantic love, which could mean that’s what “past loves” is referring to.
Grian after watching this vid: yeah, i totally planned that
Ok, this is an incredible theory, and if this all turns out to be true, what an awesome idea for a story. Definitely going to be keeping a close eye on his series!
Coming back to this post hermitpires and my god did this guy nail it, also grumbot prime operating as the ultimate version of grian
Might be turned to it lore who knows
This makes me think about the time machine that grian made in season 6 that took him litearly back in time to an earlier update.
If Grian can see other realties, this could mean we might get a return of NPC Grian. That’d be amazing.
A couple things I've figured out/heard since Grian's video was released:
- The blindness was caused by Scar's cookie which Grian ate- it's retextured suspicious stew and has been shown to be the one that causes blindness in videos such as Pearl's- so it's probable that it's unrelated to the lore imo
-It's been calculated, with feather falling the drop into the cave shouldn't have killed him.
It reminds me of the Taurtis-summoner from Evo (not saying it's related to Evo- I really don't think it is considering that Grian hasn't mentioned it in years, although I'm excited to be proven wrong if it is!)
The waffle, additionally, is very interesting, I didn't know that he changed skin before he came back! (Does anyone know if he did it *right* before he came back, or did he change it in like . season 8? Because that makes a huge difference to whether it's relevant or not)
The architecture is also super interesting!
Wow.. you dug WAY too deep into that..
AND I LOVE IT THANK YOU FOR DOING THE HARD BITS FOR US 💖💖💖
I feel like there's a very solid chance this WAS planned, but then it didn't happen/went on hold because IRL Mumbo took like a year off from the server. So instead they did all the stuff with Grumbot and the Empires Crossover to fill the gap, but that now sort of still fits because that's still all alternate universe shit! Grian is so damn cool!
Watching this after AU Grumbot came out of the rift and honestly, yes! This whole video, yes!
so thats why mumbo hasnt finished the back of his base hes got just a little bit of grian in him
Nice
I would also like to point out the fact that Grumbot has now spawned out of the Rift, and there may be a slight possibility that it will only go further back in time from here, much like Grian's mega base this season going from past to future. Sooner or later, we will start seeing weirder things, and for those of you who have seen Evo SMP or tuned in to the Watcher AU, references like those could come in just a couple months from now. And let's not negate the potential of a *person* using the Rift, or coming out of it...
Oh boy... Season 6 is coming...
TO THE NINE THOUSANDTH!
Still though ye this was 2 months ago and now we have EVEN MORE info, this is gonna get nuts
@@Commentation exactly, and if we keep going back, we (again) may get several people that we never expected to see. Hope it's Taurtis.
Something you forgot that also supports this theory: Bdubs recently got LuLu (season 8 horse) back in pig form.
Didn't a pig get thrown into the void that season?
@@Homie_1111 a lot of stuff was thrown into the void but pig lulu being from season 8 lulu fits the theory better
I love that everyone thought the rift was connected to grian's past but it turned out to be the most abitious crossover in minecraft history
Kinda feels like grasping at straws, or just theorycrafting. Though at this point in time, why not? It's something fun to do.
Animagician: ITS ALL CONECTED
Grian: its just a collab....
grians newest episode at 5:23 like actually proves this 100% i think grumbot is going to come back
prove 2 (electric boogaloo xd) ep. 17
Season 9 ended a while ago and I doubt any of this was true
Oh and the rift was for the crossover with empires
I am a bit new to Hermitcraft (only started watching in the end of the last season) and never really though of Hermitcraft as having a lot of lore. Sure, there was the big moon but for some reason I though it was just a really big bit. This is really interesting.
Even though the season has now ended this was an amazing video and I like the thought that grian new what was going to happen when falling is because in Last Life Joel shot him of of Mumbos ghast farm and Grians Limited Life season ended with him falling off of Skynet.
Mumbot was seen in the most recent episode that grain made.
He was coming through the rift, I saw it.
Good work!! :D
BUT THATS JUST A THEORY, A GAME THEORY!
One thing I saw, the script of Ani that he wrote in 0:23 isn't actually what he said, so here's what it said: As of writing this video, Grian just dropped the most fire mixtape of all time. Called Hot Beetz, it's a direct diss to Mumbo's potato antics last se(ason)
i’d pay good money to see that
A strange coincidence I remember your channel and come to check it out again today, as grian just uploaded on hermitcraft today and the main focus of the video was an old robot form a previous series (previous life?) came from the rift and the rest of the video was letting other things tell him what to do. Seems a lot like what you were talking about here, and very related to that sponsorship but with scar and mumbo!
This is crazy once you rewatch everything and then you watch this and know what happens
Grian's builds "taking" things from past seasons is a verrry good thought! His newest hermitcraft video shows the rock entrance from his ally in s8
Let's not forget Season 6 literally did end with Season 6 Grian traveling to Season 7
I'm extremely excited to see where his story this season is going
EDIT: Another thing I recall seeing quite recently is from a different hermit, Rendog!
5:55 grian: into the grianverse
Something that seems interesting to me at least is that the portals have nearly always been a way between seasons or updates and such. The evo updates, season 5 to season 6, the infinity portal in area 77, and the certain ways each member reaches season 9. It's not out of the realm of possibility the rift will be an important key to getting to the next seasons.
I need more Grian Lore videos like this
Mumbo has been very secretive of what's actually in his vault...
i think it has a very strangely things-y vibe. like the entity (that kinda looks like the mind flayer) is controlling him to build the rift or portal or whatever. idk just a little theory ig
