@@SuperGamefreak18 Bill Krause's original TMP era Shangri La class is awesome. The idea of translating to a 25th century design with the retro twist was not the best. The Duderstadt design was much better stronger as an evolution of his Tornado and Hornet designs
@@NeoGee Its why I tried to word it in a way to not attack the designer, thought yeah the TMP Shangri La class IS great and its part of the reason why I call the Connie 3 a lazy design. Not wrong with that ship it was an excellent looking ship.
Interesting, i always thought that the typhoon was a variation of the presidio, concorde and geneva, but now i realize that it's actually its own thing, very nice shots, i can't wait to get this ship in the game
Ok so I was already in love when they released the first screen shots and this vid proves that elation was justified, but can we talk about the location of those cannon hard points? I think that might be the only saucered fed ship that actually has the cannons somewhere else and I think that's a great friggin idea.
As much as I like Constitution class, this definitely has a more progression route towards the Enterprise J. Remember they have to get larger and more complex as it goes until it gets to the temporal ability and the gravitic lance
If the Odyssey is the stately grandame who can lead the fleet into the chambers of diplomacy or the unknown, the Typhoon is the cousin she calls when she needs someone punched in the face.
Odyssey is a battleship capable of diplomacy. Typhoon being a battlecruiser means she hits as hard as the Odyssey but with greater speed and agility at the expense of armor.
The Odyssey was designed to be the ultimate expression of the 25th Century Federation; Elegant, Adaptive, Immense, And Competent in all things. The Typhoon was designed by Andorians to be the embodiment of what happens when the gloves come off. The crisp, lethal ingenuity of her is almost... Terran... in its efficacy.
I love it! And I love that with this revamp the Typhoon can be considered a descendant of the Atlas class. I must ask what specifically you weapon loadout was (how many of each Protostar weapon) because that visual combination rules!
The more I look at this current version of the Typhoon the more i'm in love! Cant wait to nab her on the 6th hopefully! Might actually be placed second or third as one of my top favorite ships
This is an interessting design. It looks a bit like a mix from the Soverin class and Voyager A from Prodigy. The constuction of the warpgondels is also a new conzept.
This is a beautiful ship, and those nacelles are perfect! Personally, I would have set the "saucer" a little more forward on the secondary hull. I also think a "cousin" design, where... > there was no secondary hull (so the pylons would come directly from the underside of the saucer) but still having the "tail" at the rear of the saucer; and > the front of the saucer had a "cut-out" to accommodate a wide and thin nav-deflector (kind of a hybrid between what we have here, but shaped like the NX-01 (but without the "dish)) ...would be a great "tactical only" variant. In fact, the top surface of the saucer has the perfect shape for the cut-out, already.
thanks to that clean fly-by at the video's beginning, this is the first time i've noticed the odd gap between the hulls; just behind the saucer section's lowest desks that then intersect with the engineering deck. a gap and then a plain white strip; did something not render correctly? am i misinterpreting that particular section? i would like to unsee it, believe me.
@@EndeavourGameOn oh really? You get them only when you buy the ship? I love how they look like and feel. Also what makes the set great is thd proto Omni doesn't count as part ov a set. So you can mount a covert Omni with it anc endup with a ship that can fire 5 phasers plus a torpedo from the bow, or 3 phasers plus torpedo from stern. The two Omni basically turns the ship into a 6 - 4 loadout. I fun it currently with 2 covert strips 1 covert dual Canon. 1 covert omni strip. 1 maelstrom. And stern 1 strip 1 proto Omni plus maelstrom.. it's like a damn beam angel of death lol. Looks epic aswell.
To think that this ship was so ugly back in 2009 when STO was launched. It was then a NPC ship that after many requests over the years never made it in game. And look at the ship now, it's a gorgeous looking ship, a total remastered vessel. I must give the Devs credit. They did a great job with her.
Definitely not the ugliest ship in STO by far. Nice elegant drop shape. Solid hull profile and interesting, unconventional nacelle design. Reminds me a bit of a bigger, more advanced Avenger. Another banger redesign by EC Henry.
Stardancer is the last of her old design for the typhoon class she remains in the dynamic fluid mission and was confirmed to be destroyed as rest of her sister ships in the Iconian war
When leveling sound, adjust levels so the peak of the audio you have in 'front' (loudest at any given time and thus the primary focus) to -20 dB. This is Broadcast standard and will keep your audio from overdriving speakers and/or blowing out people's eardrums at maximum. Then use 'ducking' to drop the music back when emphasizing sound effects or dialogue.
So, I just got the ship today free through the event. The weapon hardpoints do not match at all with the video and I am so confused. My DHCs are firing from the phaser strips, my DBBs are firing from the torpedo tubes, all of my single beams are firing from one of the three omni hardpoints and ignoring the phaser strips, and the only weapon that I can find which uses the awesome looking cannon hardpoints are quad cannons. Did the hardpoints get scrambled since the video came out???
Such a lovely ship, I am so getting it! but those weapon hard points, looks like to sets of cannons? did you end up using two set of phaser beams, two sets of cannons and one set of torpedo loadout for it to go like that? or odes one set of cannons use all four forward hardpoints? I am curious to the 5-3 weapon loadout you used for this ship, made it look so majestic and powerful to look at when firing.
@@Bellthorian Particle and plasma weapons DO generate recoil. Or at least some kind of directed force. You remember the wing cannons of the Klingon Bird of Prey recoiling when firing? Cannons more than beams though since they fire intense compressed energy bursts. But likely not enough to really greatly influence somethign as heavy as a ship. Also there are lance weapons which are just oversized beam weapons which are so big and powerful they usually have to be mounted fixed in the center line of a ship's hull.
It's also worth noting that weapon mounts are typically very small. Turrets, because of their shape and design, have a relatively small through-space for the energy to be channeled into them, to ensure they remain fully articulate. The larger, more fixed weapons can have larger conduits and EPS relays fixed to them, allowing a larger output of energy. Don't forget, this was a plot point. In Best of Both Worlds, they specifically state that their make-shift Heavy Graviton Beam would require more power than the Phaser Banks could focus into it. The Ship's Navigational Defelctor is cited as the only part of the ship designed to project that much power at controlled frequencies. Lance Weapons follow the same design principle. More raw power requires larger, more solid mounts and more robust EPS conduit paths. That's why *most* more advanced weapons focus on *how* they do the damage, rather than simply amping everything up; Higher Phaser frequencies resulting in Orange instead of Blue Phaser Emissions, Disruptor weapons that cause a break-down of matter on the molecular level, Tetryon weapons that disrupt the structure of energy fields, Antiprotons that concentrate more destructive power into the tiniest of packages... ... or, like us Terrans, channeling Agony Field energy directly into our Phaser streams, so that the enemy ship gets a nice, debilitating burst of pain across its decks. Nasty bit of work. But highly effective.
My only real complaint is the saucer section. I think I would like it a little more if it was extended outward. Yeah, it's a battlecruiser but it looks a little out of proportion to me.
According to Steam Charts, it averaged 1005.2 players on at any given time, over a 30 day period, which is up 8.3% from last month. That is, of course, only Steam players.
