I just did 30 pounds of fresh cherries!! I can pie filling. With the stems I make tea and the pits I make into a fabulous vinaigrette!! Pits and white vinegar just let it sit in the refrigerator a few days and strain and make your favorite vinaigrette!! Do the same with strawberry tops!! No waste!! Yum!!
Wow, I just bought frozen cherries yesterday bc I want sugar-free cherries for pie filling or preserves. This video is the thumbnail for your canning playlist so it was perfect timing. We eat low carb/ keto. I know you have changed your diet also so idk how this figures in but I'm going to try allulose & erythritol. Thanks Anna! Many Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!
Oh, I love my cherry pitter! We have a tart cherry tree (well, last summer actually planted another) I usually just freeze them, but maybe canning would be good, too!
Interesting, I cleaned my rims pure vinegar, and then I dump the leftovers into the batter bath water. That’s because we have extremely hard water here in New Mexico and if you don’t put about a half a cup of vinegar in your canning water for there it’s pressure or water bath. If you don’t your jars will be cloudy from the calcium deposits.
Depends on how you want to eat them, if you can them with the pits it will make pies and desserts difficult but if you like to eat them from the jar as a snack it probably wouldn’t matter if you have to spit the pits out.
I definitely need to get my hands on a cherry pitter❤

I thought you have to simmer your lids?
No ma’am, they changed the lids about 8 or so years ago and now it’s not recommended to heat the lids
Okay, do u REALLY have to pit them? lol
