If you cut a x in the bottom of the peaches, the peel will start to pull away from the flesh. After 30 second Blanche and then in cold water, sometimes the peel will just roll off by gentle rub with hand, other times using a small knife to nudge the peel off.
sooooo why do you boil the peaches? we have a peach tree and we usually pick them, peel and chop and then freeze them. But I have begun canning and want to can them this year. can I not just pick them and cut and peel them? I really don't want to boil them if it's not absolutely necessary. And I do tend to can stuff in it's own juice. so berries in berry juice, oranges in orange juice, apples in apple juice etc. So I am about to stock pile some peach juice. can I not just heat the peach juice instead of the peaches? just wondering why you boil the peaches first?
It’s been a minute since I made this video but since it’s raw pack I’d say I boiled the peaches because it’s a super easy way to peel them. The flavor is not lost doing this because they’re still peeled. Whatever method works for you should be fine 😃 canning in juice is great! If you’re using store bought juice just be sure to check the label to be sure the ingredients aren’t unsafe to home can.
@@FermentedHomestead ty I'm new to this so that's helpful. and I only use 100% pure juice with no sugar added but i will now go and educate myself on what ingredients would be not safe to can. I didn't know there were any. thx I am learning.
Don't load yourself down with extra work you don't need to do by sanitizing your bottles. Anything being processed in boiling water or pressure for 15 minutes your bottles will be sanitized so you can save yourself the extra time. It is actually 10 minutes but I will always process for 15 then I have nothing to be concerned about. Blessings my dear.
Thank you for the tip! These days sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. I did not know that also applied to water bath canning, I thought it was just pressure canning
I am just starting to get into caning I amazing how you are doing it keep up the great work
Thank you so much, this is the 1st time I saw a jar broken. Learned how to handle them.
Happy to help 😊

Great video
When you put the sample syrup in, is the simple syrup hot or cold?
It’s hot

After slicing is that just a pot of cold water you are putting them into?
With a splash of lemon juice if memory serves 💜
you did not explain the sugar part.
You forgot to clean the seals before you put them on.
That is sort of true, less forgot to but more I didn’t know that brand new lids should be washed. I do that now.

@@FermentedHomestead As of a few years ago I didn't know either so when I heard about it I looked it up and sure enough.
Thank you for letting me know!
@@FermentedHomestead You are very welcome. Thank you for the video. I like to see how others do things. Sometimes I pick up new ideas.
It is easier, to cut the 🍑 first and then peel them.
