    "It is a time of unrest in 1920s Europa. The ashes from the first great war still darken the snow. The capitalistic city-state known simply as “The Factory”, which fueled the war with heavily armored mechs, has closed its doors, drawing the attention of several nearby countries.
    Scythe is an engine-building game set in an alternate-history 1920s period. It is a time of farming and war, broken hearts and rusted gears, innovation and valor. In Scythe, each player represents a character from one of five factions of Eastern Europe who are attempting to earn their fortune and claim their faction's stake in the land around the mysterious Factory. Players conquer territory, enlist new recruits, reap resources, gain villagers, build structures, and activate monstrous mechs.
    Each player begins the game with different resources (power, coins, combat acumen, and popularity), a different starting location, and a hidden goal. Starting positions are specially calibrated to contribute to each faction’s uniqueness and the asymmetrical nature of the game (each faction always starts in the same place).
    Scythe gives players almost complete control over their fate. Other than each player’s individual hidden objective card, the only elements of luck or variability are “encounter” cards that players will draw as they interact with the citizens of newly explored lands. Each encounter card provides the player with several options, allowing them to mitigate the luck of the draw through their selection. Combat is also driven by choices, not luck or randomness.
    Scythe uses a streamlined action-selection mechanism (no rounds or phases) to keep gameplay moving at a brisk pace and reduce downtime between turns. While there is plenty of direct conflict for players who seek it, there is no player elimination.
    Every part of Scythe has an aspect of engine-building to it. Players can upgrade actions to become more efficient, build structures that improve their position on the map, enlist new recruits to enhance character abilities, activate mechs to deter opponents from invading, and expand their borders to reap greater types and quantities of resources. These engine-building aspects create a sense of momentum and progress throughout the game. The order in which players improve their engine adds to the unique feel of each game, even when playing one faction multiple times."

    Hey Everyone! Hope you're enjoying the playthrough. I missed giving myself a star for producing all my workers. I will correct this at the start of the next one. Always nice when a goof is in your favor. haha

  • @halmartin7417
    @halmartin7417 6 років тому +4

    Reminder that when you produce on a hex you don't have to produce for every worker there. You can produce up to that many. So on your village when you produced, you could have done just one for now to NOT have to spend coins on produce actions as you'll still have lots to come.
    As for what to do, you need to get that slew of workers moving around for end game scoring and better production. I'd throw a mech there and get them moving.

      Great point Hal! Thanks for mentioning that. A mech is all I need now to get those workers on the move for sure. See you in the next one! :)

    Hi Adam, excellent as always. Just a small reminder, at 24:15 when you placed the 8th worker, you gained the 1st star.

    You forgot to put the first star on the triumph track for produce all the workers. You need to deploy a mech on the village and move to farm with the 6 workers and enlist like crazy to get the ongoing bonuses of popularity and power by the cards of the automas, and... enjoy the ride! haha

      Hey! Great catch Gustavo.A goof that helps me out are the best haha. Look at me getting the first star of the game. Thanks for the heads up...not sure how I missed that! It'll be corrected at the start of the next one for sure. :D

    Thanks for the videos! One point to consider is the number of times you explain the same thing. For example, after you explain that they can't move across the river and why, we don't really need it explained again every time. Another is how many times you explain that the actions for factions that aren't being played aren't used. I suspect that the videos could be a good amount shorter without the reiterating explanations. No offense, just a suggestion :)

      Hey! Thanks for the feedback. Certainly gone away from this and gotten much better at that since this playthrough quite some time ago. See you around! :)

    Hi, I bought the game and this was very helpful, do thanks for that! Maybe an unexpected question but I saw you used special encounter tokens as well and all your cards are protected by some sort of foil or sleeve. Where can you buy these things? I really like my new favorite board game to last a long long time so any kind of protection helps! Thanks!

      I grabbed some FFG or Mayday sleeves for the game. Not sure which but FFG doesn’t do sleeves anymore. So now it’s GameGenic.

    Hello! I Really enjoy your videos, very informative. I do have a question: after you moved the white character into the last encounter hex, at about min 29:00, I thought you could have performed the other action (non offensive action), to move the character to the closest space to a combat unit, I believe your character! Am I wrong? Thank you...

      Great question. I’m in the middle of a move and my memory on the rules is foggy atm. Check the pinned comment in case I addressed it there. Hope to get back to this down the line!

      @@RollingSolo Ah ok no worries! I don't see it in the pinned comment, but that's ok...basically I know that all the movement actions must be performed if we can...thank you for the reply tho!

    At 23:00 when you produced, why did you bring out workers? I thought you just pay power and popularity to produce,

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  6 років тому +2

      I had a choice. I could have held off but I also wanted the star I get for producing all my workers at the time. Thanks for watching! :)

      @@RollingSolo Thanks! Is that also the „official“ intention to let them go after each other? I would certainly play it that way and having them gang up all on me :) But actually never saw anyone playing with more than one Automa deck. Thanks!

    Your videos are very helpful but I believe they could be even better if you slowed down a little. Your stream of thought and rapid fire speech leans toward the exhausting side. Maybe I’m just too old to keep up. 😉 Thanks for the vids though. They have helped me get into the game.
