    Hi Jason. As one of the Automa Factory designers, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to review our Automa for Scythe. It was quite a thrill to see this pop up under my UA-cam Feed. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed our work!

      I apologize for the Mata tacked on to the end of Automa all the way through. The Autometta AI card put it in my head.

      Solo game is the future. Since I have no friends, this is God send for me.

      The fact that you designed a sort of AI for a single-player sort of version in a Board Game is so cool!!

    Thank very much for the review, Jason, I'm very happy to hear that Scythe Automa has made you interested in trying more solo games. That's just about the most satisfying praise our work can get :-)

    Says "Automata" then shows us on the cover where it says "Automa"...

    Good job. I appreciated getting a non-solo player’s perspective on the solo option.

    Great review Jason. I've really been enjoying solo scythe and I don't normally play games solo.

    You keep saying "Automatta", but isn't the A.I. just generally referred to as the Automa? (Auto-muh)

    • @PeacockJason

      correct. It's a mistake on my part.

    Thanks for the review. You cleared up a couple of finer points about the automa play that I didn't quite understand before. When the automa is in combat, does it get the same consequences of the combat as a human player? i.e. loss of popularity for driving off workers and gaining combat cards if is loses Also, does it gain stars for completing objectives such as place all mechs or workers?

    • @chilenozo
      @chilenozo 4 роки тому

      Late reply here but for the record. This is well explained in the Automa rulebook. 1) Automa get stars, as any human player, when winning combat. 2) Automa doesn't gain nor loses popularity during the whole game, it always remains at 10 (mid tier bonus), 3) Automa get no objective CARDs, so it can't earn stars for that. Also it doesn't get stars for deploying mechs and workers, this is explained in Automa's rulebook.

    I'm still confused on the player scoring of resources at the end. It says it is capped at 6 per territory. Is this referring to a total of six individual resource tokens in the territory or just 6 points max in a territory no matter how many resources there are? To be clear I understand that territories are scored separately from resources.

    This is my only game I have played solo, only because nobody has been around to play it and I like the standard game so much. The good about it... You really have to sit and think about your factions strengths and how to accomplish the most with the least amount of turns, otherwise you find the game ending before you get the engine started. The bad... I think you end up with more battles in order to keep them off the board or out of the factory than you'll experience playing humans.So, my final thoughts: No it doesn't replace PvP, but it excels at teaching efficiency and would bet that someone that has beaten the normal difficulty will have an upper hand against others that have experience, but no solo experience.

      If you're interested in trying the solo mode again, then you could consider trying out some of the variants in the rulebook for tweaking the Automa's personality, some of which will lower it's aggressiveness.

    Nice video. I only found some "irregularities" in the volume. I mean it went up and down a bit.

      It was, but there were so many complains about loud music that they replaced it (I suppose). Automa-TA still not corrected, though. No harm done on that one...

    • @PeacockJason
      @PeacockJason 7 років тому +1

      Correct about the Automa -Ta. For some reason the beginner level (Autometta) stuck with me.

      haha No worries, it really doesn't matter but people loves to get picky about silly little things. Same thing with the original audio, I was wearing earbuds (the right earbud, actually) the first time and didn't even noticed the music thing until I read the comments, but... people! xD Cheers! Great review! ;D

    So, to be clear, when playing the solo variant, is it one automata Vs the solo player? Or can you potentially do multiple Automatas (each with separate Automata deck) Vs solo player, i.e. Automata Vs Automata Vs Solo ?

    • @PeacockJason
      @PeacockJason 7 років тому +1

      one Automa vs Solo player. It's enough, trust me.

    • @Stephen-Fox
      @Stephen-Fox 7 років тому +2

      Yes, though there are 'experimental rules' (as in, not fully play tested but by the designer of the Automa) for both including the Automa in multiplayer games and playing against multiple Automa - the latter seem quite popular on the 1PG over on bgg from my observations. I think there are extra Automa decks available from the Stonemaier website for that at this point, also, so you don't have to either use an app for the second automa deck or use a print and play deck?

    Just fyi, I believe it's pronounced Aw-TOM-ah-ta. At least, it is in the field of A.I., though I can't speak for the designers.
    Thanks for the great review, you've encouraged me to try it!

    Automata
    [aw-tom-uh-tuh]
    I was cringing the whole video at the pronunciation. It sounded like you were reading the whole thing. Memorizing key points or having them written if you prefer and speaking freely about them would go a long way. Not a terrible video though. Good luck with the next one.
