Even Peter got a bad break. He sold out his friends out of desperation for relevance, only to be treated no better by his new "friends" than he was by his old friends and was eventualy killed when he tried to repay the son of his old friend for saving him. He did a terrible thing and it ended up backfiring on him and cost him, and he died probably repenting for it.

In the magical world, life debt is a powerful bond and he simply hesitated to continue choking Harry when reminded of life debt, the silver hand simply interpreted his hesitation as a wavering/ weakness to Voldemort and choked Wormtail to death. There is no sign of Wormtail repenting whatsoever.

Death Eaters get trials to prove themself innocent,even get their Sentences reduced (Karkaroff)
But Sirius Black didn't even get a chance to prove his innocence

Not all death eaters did get trials, Some only did in the beginning, until things were getting "too" out of hand so Crouch decided to hold no more trials for suspected DE's.. the only exception to that new rule was Barty Crouch Jr... and even then Crouch Sr. really didn't want to hold a trial for him.

Sirius would also do anything to protect Harry. At the start of the goblet of fire he was on vacation somewhere as he kept sending tropical birds to deliver the letters to Harry and when he found out someone put Harry's name in the goblet of fire he left and came straight back to Hogwarts where he lived in a cave just to protect Harry. And in the order of the Phoenix he continued living in isolation. He never proved his innocence until he died, he just wanted to prove his innocence to Harry. A third of his life in Azkaban and 3 years in isolation after escaping is just really sad. That's why Sirius will always be one of my favorite characters

Ever since I've read the Prisoner of Azkaban, Sirius simply seemed as that one character who was never appreciated yet plays a big role in everything. When he died in the fifth book, I was nearly in tears to how short he could actually be a father and friend-like to Harry, but then again, still with so many limitations. Eh... :')

But given how much they cut out for the movies, it would have been easy to miss ways for viewers to connect with his character, so I feel what they did in the films was just right for viewers to truly love his character the way he deserved.

What breaks my heart is this- harry never opened the Christmas present given to him by Sirius. After Sirius died, harry found out that it was a 2 way mirror! Imagine if he'd opened it sooner!! Sirius would've been saved and Harry and Sirius would get so much time to spend together. They could face time anytime they wanted! Imagine they set a time to facetime... 1 am every night in the empty common room.
This never happened and this just makes me sooo sad. The saddest part of OOTP book for me 💔

Worse, Dumbledore knew he was innocent and allowed it to happen. I don't trust Dumbledore. Hey very manipulative. Has anybody but me ever thought about the fact that he never attempted to stop Tom Riddle? He knew he murdered Moaning Mrytle, framed Hagrid, and did nothing. Think about it. He also knew Riddle created horcruxes. Remember, Riddle applied for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts and Dumbledore refused him the job because his looks had changed. His looks had changed, because of the creation of horcruxes. One has to commit murder to create horcruxes. Dumbledore knew this. Why didn't Dumbledore do something?
Why didn't Dumbledore alert the wizarding world?
Dumbledore was the master of the Elder Wand, right? Why didn't he stop Voldermorts rise to power? The Potters could have raised Harry, Sirius wouldn't have gone to Azkaban, the Longbottoms could have raised Neville, the Order of the Phoenix wasn't really needed was it? Molly's brothers would still be alive. All the members would still be alive.
A second wizarding war would never have transpired. Remus and Tonks would have raised Ted.
Dumbledore dueled Grindelwald, why not Voldermort? It doesn't add up. Pettigrew wouldn't have betrayed the Potters had Dumbledore stepped up and took care of Riddle while he was a student at Hogwarts.
Everything that happened happened because of Dumbledores not stopping Riddle on multiple occasions.

Imagine not even being able to see any people from the age of 22 until 34. And then, once you finally get to see people, 2 years later, you DIE protecting your godson, who's parents were betrayed, and you were framed for it, landing you in a torturous place, for what was supposed to be your entire life. All because of a scrawny rat boy who framed you for mass murder.
Damn, my respect for this guy went up. And I undertsand why he wasn't a great person in the books. It was probably the trauma of Azkaban.
