Never really noticed before how much I like Ron and Snapes relationship. Like when he turns Ron's book to the right page because Ron was taking too long, smacking him on the head after Ron laughed at him, and when he disses Ron's wand during the Lockhart class. I don't know why, but it makes it seem more friendly than some of the other relationships Snape has with students.
I wouldn't be surprised if Snape kinda begrudgingly respected Ron (at least more than the other students) for being a fellow Harry protector. Also, in the books, Ron occasionally stands up to Snape when he picks on the other kids.

Before attending Hogwarts, Harry's childhood was much like Snape's EXCEPT
1) HARRY'S FIRST YEAR was filled with the love of 2 parents;
2) Snape's Mom didn't have the courage/strength/confidence to protect him from his Father. Lily Potter died successfully protecting her son from Voldemort.
3) From the moment of his arrival at Hogwarts, Harry was loved, guided, and protected by Hagrid, Dumbledore, the Weasleys and soon after by Hermione. Who befriended Snape?
Both HP and Snape were tormented by gangs of kids before they came to Hogwarts. Those kids bear some moral responsibility for Snape's defensive coldness and cruel streak.
Frankly, the most miraculous thing about Harry was his trust and openness to friendship when he arrived at Hogwarts at age 11.
Snape's probably learned to strut from the bullies of his childhood, notably JAMES POTTER.

Fun fact: When Lockhart suggested Harry and Ron, and Snape said they'll be bringing Harry in a matchbox, that wasn't what happened in the book. In the book, Lockhart actually suggested Seamus and Neville, and Snape snarked that "Longbottom causes mayhem with the simplest of spells, and we'll be bringing what's left of Finnigan to the hospital wing in a matchbox."
