THEY MADE THE VIDEO PRIVATE. MovieFlame responded in a very educated and classy way, and they realized they were wrong. Glad they were able to see the error of their ways.
Before they made it private the video had 9k dislikes vs 4.5 likes and 6k comments that were all negative. I hope they learned their lesson, hopefully now they’ll research better before bashing an amazing series with no merit to their statements

That is such a bizarre take because Harry is one of the sweetest characters I've ever read about. One of his most admiral traits is his ability to love and forgive. He even named his son after a man who hated him for existing, and it was not out of spite but as a way to honor him.

I think we can all agree that the golden trio are very mature for their ages. When they were fifteen, they started a program to teach people how to protect themselves from Voldemort if he returned, and risked a lot trying to save Sirius while James and Sirius were bullying Snape at that age. And at 17 the three of them were literally trying to save the world while when Dumbledore was their age, all he could think about was finding the three hallows.

Harry Potter is possibly one of the most relatable, realistically-written, and likable series protagonists in the modern world and maybe even in history.
He isn’t portrayed as a Mary Sue who is perfect and never acknowledges his flaws. He learns from his mistakes and acts emotionally in certain situations, like a normal human being. And we see him grounded in casual situations to build his character and still make him interesting.

I’d also add Harry’s anti-Slytherin views is a wary bias vs. outright bigotry. His bully is Slytherin, his parents’ killer is Slytherin, his mean teacher is Slytherin, and when he saw Tom Riddle’s memory in chamber of secrets he empathized with him right away to the point of actually considering Hagrid being behind the attacks. It’s less “Harry is hateful” and more “Harry is cautious.”
Not to mention the slytherins made fun of Ron when he was on the quidditch team by singing "Weasley is our King" The Only slytherin harry liked was Professor Slughorn.

Even Harry was horrified and admitted that he wouldn't have used if if he known what it would have done.
Like the torture curse is really bad, but it's banned because it's both widely known and is a one purpose spell: to create unimaginable pain. The only reason Sectumsempra doesn't have the same "straight to Azkaban" sticker is because it's not a well known spell. It might as well be called "the disfiguring curse", because it's only purpose is to create cursed wounds that have a _single, very specific_ countercurse that's even less known than the spell itself, and it can easily lead to the death of the victim. And would have, if the creator hadn't been 'round the corner and summoned by a ghost.
That's the opposite of justified, considering Harry also knew stupefy and expelliarmus, both which would have ended the duel with a lot less bloodshed(and Draco, being in middle of a spell, wouldn't have been able to block it). Attempting to kill someone who is causing you pain isn't justified when there are nonlethal options.
The only thing that keeps Harry from judgment is that he didn't know before hand what it would have done, which changed the attempted murder into an assault that nearly became manslaughter.
@@the_last_ballad I never said he was justified in using the Sectumsempra curse. I simply stated he was justified in cursing him, which is completely true. It was self defense. Plus, like you said, he didn’t even know what the curse was so you can’t exactly claim he was trying to kill Draco; just cause more pain than usually which, again, is completely justified in this case.
However, considering people have been tortured into madness, I’d argue any curse is justified against the Cruciatus curse (it’s one of the Unforgivable ones for a reason).
I think Harry might give you an argument on that after discovering what the Sectumsempra spell does.

Besides that being unfair. Literally EVERYONE has some prejedcut to Slythrens. They got a bad reputionation to them. So naturally people are going to be weary of them. Since its even said in the first book "There not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slythern."
They simply have given the world a mindset they are all born evil. So its hard to overcome a bad rep when you've done a good job showing why you have it.
That's why Slughorn is so imporant. To show that Slytren aren't all bad.

The only time I can recall Harry wanting to inflict pain was when he used Crucio on Amycus Carrow in Ravenclaw Tower. But that was to protect Mcgonagall and the entire Ravenclaw House (who are between 11 and 17 years old) from Voldemort

Okay, one, Snape didn't even try to properly teach Harry, just went straight into it telling him to basically "cope", two, Snape also told Harry to defend himself, so when Harry did protego literally that was him doing what Snape said, and Snape STILL got mad at Harry, so that was on Snape.
i thought Snape was kinda impressed with protego? like not happy but not angry by any means. in the films he's furious but in the book his memories are in the pensieve so it doesn't matter to him

1. Sticks up for Neville and goes after Draco to get Neville’s Remembrall back after Draco takes it.
2. Frees dobby from slavery.
3. Spends an entire book trying to solve the chamber of secrets mystery to save his classmates & friends from being killed or petrified
4. Goes down into the chamber of secrets with no regard to his own safety to save Ginny.
5. Goes after Ron to save him after Ron is dragged to the Shrieking Shack by Sirius.
6. Saves Sirius from getting the dementor’s kiss. Saves Buckbeak from execution
7. Spares Wormtail’s life.
8. Tries to reason with Ron when Ron gets jealous about Hermoine and Krum. Spends time with Hermoine when she is fighting with Ron, so she doesn’t feel neglected.
9. Forgives Ron for abandoning him after his name came out of the goblet of fire
10. Tells Cedric about the dragons even though Cedric is a competitor.
11. Almost dies trying to fulfill Cedric’s wishes and gets his body back to Hogwarts.
12. Hands over a bag of galleons to Fred and George and encourages them to start on their joke shop products.
13. Saves Dudley’s life during dementor attack
14. Starts up a secret club at the risk of getting in trouble, to help his friends learn how to defend themselves.
15. Goes to save Sirius in the dept of mysteries and tries not to let his friends follow him, for fear of their safety.
16. Pretends to give lucky potion to Ron to help boost his confidence in the quidditch match.
17. Goes after Hermoine to console her after she gets upset about Ron and Lavender kissing.
18. Saves Ron from being killed by poisoned mead.
19. Uses liquid luck to get what Dumbledore wanted. Gives the rest of the potion to his friends.
20. Shakes Dudley’s hand and forgives him for all the years of abuse and bullying
21. Encourages the Dursleys to accept protection from order of the phoenix even after how they treated him all those years, showing that he cares for their safety.
22. Forgives Ron AGAIN for abandoning him in deathly hallows.
23. Attempts to save wormtail AGAIN when he’s being choked by his own hand
24. Saves draco’s life
25. Literally walks to his death in order to save anyone else from being killed.
26. Forgives Snape for the years of abuse and bullying.
27. Forgives Dumbledore for not telling him things
28. Shows mercy to Voldemort and tries one last time to help him (by telling Voldemort to feel remorse so that he could repair his soul).
The Take: HaRry TreATeD pEOple BadLY and IS nOT A rOLE mOdEL
imagine saving your friends' lives multiple times, at your own peril, and having them say to you "you treat me badly". like damn, I would literally die for you, how much more do you want?? Harry tries to save even his enemies, this is ultimate hero quality.
And let's just remember that Voldy is reason for pretty much all the suffering Harry had in his life. And Harry STILL didn't attempt the killing curse on Voldy in their final showdown. In fact, Harry doesn't attempt the killing curse, not even once throughout the whole series. Harry doesn't kill anyone in the whole series. Voldemort killed himself essentially, and ain't that poetic. Rowling was very clear in what kind of hero she wanted Harry to be.
Even when Harry was at his worst point, which I would deem to be when Bellatrix killed Sirius right in front of his eyes, Harry still didn't attempt the killing curse. Yes, he tried the Crucio curse, but it didn't even work properly because his heart wasn't in it. Even at his worst moment when hatred and rage was so strong in him, that hatred and rage still wasn't enough to produce a proper Crucio curse. Meaning the good parts of Harry are still overwhelmingly present, even at his lowest moment. He couldn't bring himself to kill Bellatrix even at his lowest moment, even when goaded by Voldemort.

29. saves Gabriel in the 2nd task of the triwizard tournament
30. forgives kreacher for betraying sirius and shows kreacher kindness, eventually turning his loyalty around
31. saves hermoine from the troll in philosopher's stone
32. treats luna well despite how other people treat her, takes her to slughorn's party, etc.
33. helps dumbledore get back to hogwarts after the horcrux cave incident (gives physical support)
34. forgives his classmates for giving him grief for being a triwizard champion and then forgives them AGAIN for believing the false propaganda of the ministry
35. asks fred and george to buy ron new dress robes
36. figures out a way to save luna, griphook, ollivander and everyone else from malfoy manor (using the mirror)
37. is the one to alert people that arthur weasley was attacked by nagini, thereby saving arthur's life
38. is noble and unselfish when he insists that Cedric take the triwizard cup together with him, to give them a fair tie for the tournament
39. saves Cedric from harm by the spider in the maze of the 3rd task.

So if that's what you want to comment about, there's no need to write that anymore, as it is just stating the obvious and gets repetitive. If my comment was too long for you, nobody forced you to read it 😊. And if the length is intimidating for you read, I'm not sure how you made it through all 7 HP books in the first place then lol.
Anyway, for anyone reading this, I hope you are having a good day! I recently heard from my dad that he's starting to read the 5th HP book. He read all the books except #5 during the pandemic, he skipped that one cause I told him that one was the saddest darkest one lol, and he didn't want to be too sad. So he asked me to just fill him in on the major points of book 5 so he could skip it. But now he's starting to read it! His fav book was #4, Mad Eye Moody is his favorite character in the whole series. He was kind of pissed that the Mad Eye he knew in book 4 wasn't even the real Mad Eye lol.

When Harry saved Cedric's life from the spider, Harry also broke his leg from the spider digging his pincers into his legs and raising Harry up off the ground about 20-30 feet high. I read this chapter a couple of days ago, and if I was in Harry's view, I would probably be scared to death. That part was a true heroic page for me.

When these movies just came out my parents didn't want me to watch them. They thought that the movies were dark and evil, that magic is anti-christian, etc. I've always been of a mind to be a part of the world I live in, regardless of preconceived notions... and after watching the first four movies I remember a conversation with my parents: "It's not about the magic, though. It's about friendship."
I just read the chapter where Hermione and Ron suggest to Harry that he should teach defense against the dark arts in Order of the Phoenix, and Harry completely humbled himself (Though he was speaking the truth) that he had a lot of help and got lucky in a lot of circumstances. Seeing this immediately afterwards talking about Harry's swelled ego is hilarious 😂
Them citing him not paying attention in his first potions class as evidence that he's egotistical while showing the clip of him taking notes of Snape's speech (a comedic example of him being eagered to learn magic) is self parody

I noticed that the second time I watched the movie, I was angry that Snape diddent even take a look at what he was writing diddent even think maybe he was taking notes 😤.
Exactly! They gloss over the fact that, despite who his parents were, Harry has been raised completely oblivious to the Wizarding world and has absolutely no knowledge of how that world works. He is clearly trying to learn when he is taking notes, but Snape is just too prejudiced by the bullying he received from James and his pals to be willing to give Harry a fair chance.
The worst part is that, even if they were right about a few points...they are called character flaws
Harry went through so much hell so that he was depressed. That caused his temper outbursts. For me his major character flaw is the fact that if he hates someone he is unwilling to see bigger picture. Like he never asks himself why this man who hates him so much saved his life. I know it was convenient.

I really wish that in the film they also had Harry react this way to casting Sectumsempra on Draco. I thought throughout the half-blood prince and Order of the Phoenix, the point was that he didn’t want to be like voldemort. That "The Take" channel has rapidly gone downhill over the past year or two. It seems to coincide with that channel changing their name. Before that they were called "Screen Prism" (or something?) and they were actually quite good. Just endless garbage now though. I don't even bother watching their videos anymore.

I have read all seven Harry Potter books and have watched all eight movies. Harry had a rough life, having lost his parents and growing up with an aunt and uncle who don't understand him is difficult. He is a great role model. Not only for young boys but for readers/viewers all over the world.

That last line in the video revealed what it's all about. They just didn't want a male protagonist.
It gets on my nerves when people use Snape's memory of the bullying scene to say James was a horrible person and Lily should have stayed with Severus when the memory was completely biased and from one pov. Also, James changed after that and was actively doing the best for the world.
Snape was just an incel because his crush/obsession didn't bang him. James also saved Severus when he followed them to learn about Remus.

The people who say Hermione should have been the hero, clearly don’t understand the point of the series. Harry is a regular kid, not some protege for a reason. It’s why the story works so well and has such a great message. Hermione works well as a supporting character. If she was the main character we would basically be watching her freak out over exams and studying all day. Harry was the character that was curious and rebellious, that didn’t just trust authority figures, and broke the rules. So it made sense that he was the main character.

I feel like The Take's video is an example of our current society (at least in the States, I can't speak for other countries): Having a strong opinion on a person or topic then either not really supporting that opinion with concrete evidence or taking things out of context to fit their definition. Also, seeming not to be willing to accept another interpretation of the things they use to "prove" their point.
Something I've come to realize is when a person chooses to view something, or someone, as bad/evil/wrong, it is near impossible to change their minds; at least by trying to look at things logically. We often let emotion dictate our responses, or even actions, & don't take the time necessary to analyze a situation objectively. So Movie Flame making this response video was well done, & honestly a much needed counterpoint. Whether anyone who 'liked' the original The Take video will listen to or accept this counterpoint is another matter.

I live in "THE COUNTRY" that stands for "tolerance" and "liberty" in Europe... At least, so I've always been told at every opportunity people had to do so, even going so far that any VALID criticism was always directed to "If you don't like it here, move to North-Korea or something" (while actually not realizing that they are mostly defending things that are pretty normal in North-Korea, to make the irony even thicker). Well let's make it clear, I live in the Netherlands, although I've met a lot of Dutch who might fit the description I've always been taught, I've met a crapload of more Dutch who are nothing more but overinflated, self-important, intolerant, hypocrite, dogmatic, knowing-it-all (even worse than Hermione could ever have been) assholes of the worst possible kind imaginable. And actually I'm being way too kind, but words cannot capture the truth, anyway.
But then again, when it comes to Western countries, I always see that a lot, so I guess, it's a kind of consolation that this doesn't apply to only my countrymen.
What makes Harry Potter a perfect protagonist is because he’s flawed, and people (who are not a true Potterhead) forget that he was just a kid and kids can’t be suddenly all adult and mature just for the sake of the plot.. Every kid wants to be ‘the kid’, naturally at times he tends to enjoy his fame.. But what makes Harry great is his heart.. He always stands up for his friends, his family, he readily stood up to give up his own life to Voldemort to save others.. He knows he needs Hermione and Ron but he always will choose their safety first.. Best example of Harry being a mature person at the end comes when he gives up on the Elder Wand, the power of the Deathly Hallows because he already had everything he would need: friends and family..

In the order of the phoenix Harry despised Kreacher because he helped in Sirius's death, but came to pity him because of his mistreatment, and while Sirius didn't outright hate Kreacher, he saw him as a living reminder of the house he despised. The house that Dumbledore used as his prison. Now you could make the argument that Dumbledore was trying to keep Sirius alive, but as Harry clearly states, "People don't like being locked up! You did it all to me last summer!" It's doubly painful for Sirius as he hated his mom's house and the house elf that came with it. Yes, Harry is good hearted, and realizes that his godfather isn't perfect, and he grows to treat Kreacher better as a result of learning that.
Honestly, I love how Dumbledore made those mistakes. It really shows that despite being the powerful wizard around and everyone being afraid of him, he's a human too, and he makes mistakes. If Rowling made all of Dumbledore's decisions correct, it would seem very unreal
Yeah, I love how all of the characters in Harry Potter are actually realistic. I hate when authors make it seem like if you're powerful, it's impossible to make mistakes, even tho it's not. Even if Dumbledore is powerful, he's also human and makes mistakes and I love that about Harry Potter characters.
Also, Dumbledore can say "Yeah, it's my fault Sirius is dead, because you would NEVER have gone to the Department of Mysteries if you knew Voldemort wanted you to do that", but Harry has shown time and again that he isn't afraid to rush into danger. Case and point; charging into a field to chase Bellatrix Lestrange despite knowing damn well it was totally a trap. And why didn't Voldemort just apparate right there? You mean no Death Eater thought to touch their mark to summon him, as a signal that "Hey, Harry is here in the middle of a field, some good old fashioned fire magic will incinerate him completely. His main spell of "Expeliarmus" isn't going to do shit against that, plus you have wandless magic too Voldy. Get over here."
I love the series, but that "Dumbledore Mistake" is total bs. Every single book has Harry charging off into danger with no one asking him to do so except in Book 3 with Buckbeak and Sirius subtly being suggested by Dumbledore.
@@reginull9201 Ok for starters, that scene you're talking about was exclusive to the film. It never happened in the book so Harry's actions in that scene came from the screenwriter. I was always confused as to why they decided to add that in.
And while it is true that Harry isn't afraid to rush into danger, he doesn't do it just for the hell of it. Every time it's because someone's in danger or he knows that something bad will happen if he doesn't at least try to intervene.
For example the Philosopher's Stone - He tried talking to Professor Mcgonagall but she believed the stone was too well protected and ignored him. He couldn't expect any of the other teachers to believe him if she didn't so he, Ron and Hermione decided to go down to protect the stone themselves.
Also the Chamber of Secrets - He and Ron went to Lockart initially to give him what information they had as they believed he would be going down to rescue Ginny, they hadn't been planning to go down there themselves. When they realized Lockart was going to run they dragged him down to the chamber to help rescue her but then Lockart's backfiring spell caused a cave in which not only made him lose his memory but also caused Harry to be trapped, alone, on one side of a wall of rocks with the only way forward being to go into the chamber.

@@reginull9201 Except Dumbledore is right. The ONLY reason Harry rushed off to the Department of Mysteries is because he believed Sirius Black was in mortal danger. If Dumbledore had actually told Harry everything from the beginning, Harry wouldn't have had a reason to run off because he would have known that Sirius was fine and Voldemort was just baiting him. You ARE right that Harry isn't afraid to rush into danger, but that's what makes him the hero. It's because he will do whatever it takes to protect those he cares about; even if it means sacrificing his own life. It's because he values everyone else's lives above his own. There's actually a great quote from Team Starkid's "A Very Potter Senior Year" that sums up Harry Potter perfectly. It's Ron Weasley dressing down the other students after they ran Harry out of Hogwarts, "You guys wanna know why Harry always saves the school? Cause he doesn't wait for someone else to do it."
Also, your "Harry running after Bellatrix after she burned down The Burrow" argument just shows that you don't actually understand the characters and the world at all. First off, none of the Death Eaters, Bellatrix included, would dare attempt to kill Harry Potter. Lord Voldemort has said, time and again, that Harry Potter is his and his alone. If they even tried to kill Harry, Voldemort would Avada Kedavra them without blinking. And Death Eaters are, if nothing else, afraid of Lord Voldemort above all else. Secondly, Voldemort wouldn't have been stupid enough to try to fight Harry. He knows he can't win. And you would know it too if you actually paid attention. The Twin Cores protects Harry, as shown in Goblet of Fire, and Voldemort knows it. That's the reason he takes Lucius' Wand from him and is so desperate to find The Elder Wand. He even says, in the movies, that he can't use his own wand against Harry because of the Twin Cores. As long as Harry had his original wand, Voldemort couldn't touch him and Voldemort knew it.

I used to really like "The Take." They've actually done some really great HP topics, including one on Hufflepuffs that I still re-watch. But the past few months I've found them getting increasingly ridiculous in their "takes." It's like they sit around now and actively wonder what's the *worst* take they can come up with, and then pursue it without more thought. It's frustrating to see a channel with such a strong female presence - which is really needed - descend into nonsense. Thanks for this rebuttal, it was very, very good.
I agree. I think they've made some good videos - but they are making too many nowadays and their hooks are getting more extreme. Perhaps they are desperate to increase their viewership, but I stopped watching them a while ago because of these changes.
Agreed. For instance, they were so desperate to praise Bridgerton with its forced diversity that they brushed off the rape scene as "problematic sexual dynamics". And that is a feminist channel! When they revealed that the "villain" is a jealous, fat girl, I thought that they would complain that it's bad representation, but they found it perfectly logical. They were so busy defending and praising the show that they just brushed off issues they would complain about in other circumstances.

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve also had the spotlight on me and felt so uncomfortable and didn’t even want it. Others would act like I was acting like I was above them like Harry too. I felt so sad at the time, I just wanted to fit in. Also sometimes people may have slightly autistic tendencies, so imagine trying to be perfect at the same time while you got the spotlight. 😢

An anti-hero can still save the world, it's more of a difference on how to achieve a goal, they are more on the gray/dark spectrum. But at the end Harry is a bona fide hero, just because Harry is a human being who is flawed like everybody else and sometimes doesn't act like a hero should doesn't mean that he is an anti-hero, heck, a lot of HP was exactly people being upset about Harry not meeting their expectations in a certain way.

There are 3 things I can tell about The Take lady just from her points:
1. She hasn't read the books or at the very least read them once and has forgotten it all for the movie versions.
2. She doesn't like men. (Her claims of harry being the "typical male" and saying Herminone is the true protagonist without actually having a valid argument for either claim make that clear).
3. Her video was either made for massive clickbait or she was told to make a video with that title and had to find "evidence" to back it up
