When you mentioned the ghost phone vibrating in your pocket, made me remember waking up onboard ship in my rack 2 or 3 months into a 6-month deployment, moving my arm and foot because I was having a vivid dream about driving my old manual transmission Jeep at home.
Hehehehe it's so weird, makes me think of that video of the dog running in its sleep.
@@HaedenBeck Ha ha, yup, like that.
Presuming you intend to stay in the Navy, where do you want to go after Bahrain?
@@jeffbeck8993 Home 😂
@@HaedenBeckOh! I got the impression from your pre-Navy videos that the place in Wisconsin you came from may not be a place you want to go back to. Or at least not so soon. Navy was a ticket out for me. 20 years flew by. Still can't believe how quickly it went. 5 years of it in Bahrain too/2 tours there. Anyway, good luck.
@@jeffbeck8993 If my family and friends weren't there I'd probably never go back to my home town. Thank you for your service, the time definitely flies by! Thanks.

Funny thing that happened to me in Marine Boot Camp was when I was on mess duty (we have a week of mess duty..or had..don't know if they still do that) I was the "juice private" and had to keep the juice machines full. There was one with a grape juice that was almost empty, just about a 1/2 inch left of a 5 gallon fill. The juice dispensers are clear. So I went to the stock room to find more grape juice and there was none.. I asked the GySgt incharge of the mess hall where I can get more and he just yelled at me and told me to get some effen juice in the machine... All I could find was orange so i took that and went out onto the floor and filled the container with orange mixing it with the grape that was already in it. It turned a diarrhea brown... and no sooner than I thought to myself "Oh this isn't good" I hear across the deck from far away.. "What the ____ is that?" I was surrounded by Drill Instructors all yelling and taking glasses to drink of it while berating me for making "s__t water". I wanted to laugh so hard and most of the DI's broke a laughed. I did not laugh. the Mess Chief came out and yelled some more and had me take the plastic caintainer of the poo juice off the cooler and wash it and refill it. It was a long morning.
Some things I didn't catch in the video. You mentioned APOC RPOC and such. What are those?
That's hilarious, can't be easy to get them to break character. DIs are so much scarier than RDCs, that smokeybear cover is something else.
RCPO is the recruit chief petty officer and AROC is the assistant recruit chief petty officer, they're the first and second in command of the division at a recruit level.
Dad enlisted in 1942 in the Navy.
He said it was the first time some of his fellow recruits ate 3 meals in a day as they had grown up in the depression.
One of the sailors was from a holler in Kentucky. He had only ever had eggs on Christmas. He was amazed they had them every day.
Yes your videos are great I thought the food was not great it was good enough they fed us well we just had like 20 minutes to eat I remember (could have been 15?) because I still eat too fast today. They also gave us 5 minutes to shower and shave I believe that was true might have been 15 or less it was so long ago. I also remember standing watch having to recite and memorize the 20 General orders of a sentry. I also remember choosing to work in the kitchen at Great Lakes I liked it. I also remember making my bed marching swimming the smoke house making a lot of friend the yearbook (still have it) Lastly I got the whole day off they took out all four of my wisdom teeth! Anyway however when I got to submarine school right after boot camp the food was beautiful the campus in New London was beautiful of course it was spring around 1980 the food yes very much gourmet anything you wanted the Ice cream station soft serve as much as you wanted. The food I got on my submarine was great I was stationed on a base that was on the border of Maine and New Hampshire like a half mile I think from the gate you crossed the bridge into Kittery Maine. The submarine tender we lived on while being refitted had lobster pots we had surf and turf nights with all the lobster you could eat I ate so many it was years before I wanted more. I remember cooking eggs to order in the morning we got what the officers got in the ward room there were relaxed rules in the sub force. Yes it is true there is an incentive and in boot camp i was treated like a star "your going on a submarine?" You know it is just a hard word actually like a needle from the doctor not hard just afraid of the unknown if you can get a little courage in your mind I am sura anyone can do this although we only graduated like half 13 of 30
I leave for boot camp next month, excited for the Michelin star food. Also, like the suit, you got that shit on buddy
i cant wait to get into the navy imma get out of here lmao😂
You've found the real escape route, not some get rich quick scam. Best of luck.

I remember at RTC Great Lakes in the mid '80's the pretty much uncooked bacon.

My Friend I want to post here I should have posted here. As a US Navy veterandischarge a long time ago I want to endorse you sir as accurate I have watched mant of your videos theya re accurate. The food at Great Lakes bootcamp when I went there in 1978/1979 must have changed I assume. I remember having to work in the kitchens or perhaps choosing that job because after a few weeks we had to get a job. I worked it was hard not impossible I do not remember any danger just having to work I was 17 when I joined then 18 when I got there March 26 1979 it was cold we were given pea coats and told they wer "blue" they sure look black they were felt not as warm as the coats they get today. We were given canvas duffle bags or sea bags I still have mine I starched it stenciled it with my name. I can fi at least 2 20lb turkeys in it but your "bags are not as well made The food at boot camp I remember some guys were put on diets because of their weight was not I was 8'3 170 pounds I was tgeased they calle me pirate I had a sunken chest! LOL true I could eat anything I remember the food was not that great we made jokes saying the powdered eggs had salt peter in it the Urban legend anyway IDK I had no time to think I was too bust ordered around
that funny you didn't mention been packed in the line like sardines unless that stopped that I was in boot in 2000
First time watching good video but when I first clicked I was like why is he dressed like Benny from new Vegas haha
Ayy someone gets it! Thanks.
And if you dont have time to eat you dont eat thats not fear
Sounds fire, I'm a pretty picky eater too, so entrees being standalone meats with no veggie fluff is fantastic. But do they have tea??
You look like Louis from the movie unbroken
Hey there. Fellow Wisconsinite. Just wondering how tangible and possible being K9 would be. That’s basically my biggest interest for being MA
It's covered in the A school complete guide
I had type 2 diabetes for about 2 months back in 2014. It was developed because I had gained a lot of weight. I dropped all the weight and it went away. I take no medicine, at all, and the chance of it ever coming back is very low do to my healthy life style ( exercise, good diet, etc). Is this something I should worry about when joining the Navy or mention to a recruiter? I am worried they will look through my medical history and see I was once prescribed Insulin back in 2014. Im not long on anything and was given a clean bill of health.
If you were given medication and everything that means the problem exists on paper and can be found. It's better to be upfront about it at MEPS and with the recruiter than try to lie about it or not mention it and then they find it 5 weeks into boot camp and throw you out. Since it's no longer a problem and you take no medication, worst case scenario you might need a waiver, best case scenario they're like alright no problem it's resolved.
No if they ask you’ll just get a wavier that you don’t currently require insulin and maybe have to do a new blood test and have your doctor write A letter stating such you’ll be fine good luck
I am a coffee drinker and I heard it is there but like the desserts you should not try to take it or you pay for it later. Did you see coffee and if so were you allowed to have it?
I do remember seeing coffee cups and a friend of mine tells me there was decaff coffee but nothing with caffeine in it. You're allowed to have it.
Yes there is coffee, Hot chocolate, Milk, Chocolate Milk and Tea.
Better eating than college food
I have an other question. Does a driver license permit count as DL for MA?
And also do you need any prior law enforcement knowledge before choosing ma as your rate?
You need a complete driver's license, and no you don't need prior LE experience to be MA
Pb&J sandwiches everyday 😂🤣
Mini-pancakes and peanut butter 👌
If you want the best food in the service join the submarine service we actually did have surf and turf night steak and lobster and today they have cook to order on submarines it is true that the food is great in submarine service even at the Submarine school in New london a beautiful place and great food
I've always heard that subs have the best food since WWII to incentivize people to join. Subs in WWII were an easy ticket to heaven. These days of course they're way better and we're not in a world war hehe
@@HaedenBeck Actually I had gone to sonar school but wanted to cook I still love to cook I was 6foot 3inches 170 pounds about. Now Im still 6'3 but 63 years old I went to Great lakes for boot camp then New London for Subs chool then San Diego for sonar school I did not like that after a few months I asked to be sent to a submarine as a cook and they said sure I was a crewman on the Stonewall Jackson. SSBN 634 it was being refitted in 1979 with the Tomahawk missile system I can talk it was decommissioned in 1995?
@@HaedenBeck Yes When i went to my submarine in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard I was a cook I can remember cooking for two crews Blue and Gold I remeber Steak and Lobster nights Portsmouth NH is on the border with the town of Kittery Maine. We had lobster pots on the tender I lived on. I was the lowest rank SA or E2 I imagine ranks are the same. I cooked from like 4 am until late maybe 2300 with the cleaning I was a "skullery wench" then had to stand watch too so sleep was sometimes hard I was very young The videos about the mess or cooking on the submarine are accurate I say but they do not show a boomer submarine only the fast attack I am sure you get the impression of what I TRY TO SAY THINGS are secret there is no "NEED to Know " understand?
@@HaedenBeck Lastly i should say I wholly endorse your videos as accurate truthful My Navy career was very short I was injured I was given an honorable medical discharge after 14 months I did not receive a pension from the Navy because they claimed I had a preexisting condition but I went that day and applied to the Veterans Administration and I received a service connected award from the VA. I am consider a disabled veteran or service connected and I receive privileges and I want to post another comment on your videos
I leave in a week, do they serve coffee during breakfast or should I just quit caffeine now?
I have no answer, just wishing you good luck. I leave in July, let me know how it goes!
I never drank any coffee but my friend is telling me there was decaff coffee. I know there's no caffeine in anything, you run off of your own fear/motivation.
the black tea has caffeine
Will we get punished if we didn't finish our plates? Let's say I was given some sort of fish, took a bite, didn't like it, and threw it away. Will I and the division get punished??
Nope, not that I remember
