    Haeden,
    First and foremost thank you for your service. Second I am an Air Force Vet (1998-2004) who's from Racine, WI (right south from your MKE). I just stumbled upon your channel cause it was recommended given I watch military videos quite a bit. I've bounced around from the upload where you left the day of boot camp. I look forward to a newer upload video about your dad. I also gotta salute you for being a big Elvis fan. In fact my mom was voted by the Racine Journal Times newspaper and was on Fox Channel 6 news as the biggest Elvis fan in SE WI back in the 70's. She's got a scarf from his MKE show he gave her, she also has which is nuts she has locks of his hair from the official Elvis fan club on the 70's and has plenty of autographed items so I was raised on him since I was in the womb. So when you wore the blue suit and did the line about charges I said wow this is refreshing seeing a young Elvis fan who is legitimate. Your videos are professional, informative and any young man or woman coming into the Navy have you to thank as well as Austin Alexander who's videos I've watched for years too. I must say Great Lakes Naval Base holds a special place still because I became addicted to opioids from (2006-2012) to the point where I was at my wits end/rock bottom. I tried called rehabs from st Louis up to green bay all wanting thousands of dollars up front, or they said no beds for 4-6 weeks. To which I told them I don't have that long. Finally after calling around for hours my kids mother said you're a veteran I said well yeah?! Call the veterans crisis line and I literally went omfg duh!! Haha. I called and the operator Tyler who was a Navy vet said we are going to take care of you putting me at ease amidst massive opioid withdrawal. But, he got me into Capt James A Lovell Healthcare Center the next morning as a walk in on October 24, 2012 and I am still a patient there and have been clean ever since. I salute the Navy for being a part in saving my life. I look forward to more videos and have liked and shared some as well. Take care and stay safe out there. Wisconsin especially SE Wisconsin is brought of you sailor!! From one brother to another stay safe, but have fun. Lastly don't forget to try and knock out college while you're in. Even if it's just one class per semester or a few that's the one regret I have.

      @@HaedenBeck young man and fellow Wisconsinite I am already proud of you. For joining the true 1% in the world that being a member of the Armed Forces of these United States of America. Crazy you went to an Air Force base for well what we call tech school and I went to a Navy base for B-school for Signals Intelligence (spook) Operator. It was Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida. I'm not going to lie being from Wisconsin you know it and I know it, it's not like we have long drawn out summers. So I was never a beach guy here, I mean I would go to Bradford for a summer bbq or North Beach in Racine to play volleyball but man when I got to Pensacola and seen that bright white soft sandy beach I became a beach bum. If it was daylight hours and I wasn't at the school house on station I was on that beach hahaha. Are you still in Bahrain? Closest I ever got was lovely Saudi Arabia for 6 months and I know what your talking about when it comes to the heat. I cannot wait to see the levels this channel and your content are going to jump in the future. Before I got into your videos too deeply I could have sworn you were an NCO or junior grade officer with how articulate you spoke as well as mature. One great point you landed on and reiterate this because this was true when I was in. Only share your good/bad news and personal things with a few tight number of friends. No need to letting random or even fringe associates know. Because I'm almost certain if one thing hasn't changed in all these years since I've been out it's that the rumor mill and gossip fly around in the military more than high school it almost seemed. I kept close to myself as well when I was in. Speaking of which in five days it'll be the anniversary day that I went in wayyyyyy back in 3/17/1998. 26 years ago but I remember that day like it was yesterday I swear. Well Haeden take it easy and keep kicking arse out there, ya got one fellow vet and Wisconsinite pulling for you!! On Wisconsin.

    Young man, you did an OUTSTANDING job conveying your presentation. Bravo Zulu to you. I believe every potential Navy MA prospect should listen to this so they have some great insight and can make an informed decision regarding a career as a Navy Master At Arms.
    I retired in 98 as a MAC and attended my MA "C" school in Anniston, Alabama. My class was the last class at this venue before all MAA training was moved to San Antonio. Nevertheless, it too was an intense 10 week course of instruction back in 1985. I converted from SH2 to MA2 in 85. I know a lot has changed since my time, but I hope there are top notch and high quality MA's in the rating just like there was when I was part of the 'elite' force of the MA rate.
    Good luck during your career and continue to be the "instructor quality" MAA as you displayed in this video. I'm 72 now, but even so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this presentation. It brought back a lot of GREAT memories of my time in training and putting all that to work into the 'real' side of the Navy.
    I have been in the Tidewater area since 91. I was stationed out of Norfolk (USS G. Washington) and SAMI instructor of two course at Little Creek Amphib Base.
    Many Kudos to you.

    C school graduation is even more relaxed, they just called our names in a classroom and handed us our certificates. After that, I was hanging around the base a little longer, had a final room inspection to prove I left the room empty and clean, and went home for 7 days.
    I couldn't stand it, it felt like I woke up and the navy was just a dream. The 7 days came and went and I got on the plane to Norfolk, which brought me to my first command.

    25 years ago, I arrived at Lackland from CTR A school, Corry Station. There was no sponsor assigned to me, not even an address. My dad, who went to USAF basic in 1952, gave me rough directions! In any case, my orders were to NSGA Medina; a gate guard looked at my orders and directed me to the MA quarterdeck, where the OOD said that I was indeed at the right place, the "Naval Security Group" confused him. They started barking at me, so I got my seabag and went back to the car, ole boy screaming at me. Finally got him to look a little closer at my orders, at which time he mellowed with a "oh, you're a spook. You're quarterdeck is at Kelly, Security Hill. They put me up in the MA A School barracks that weekend, which was a trip.

    @RoguePhysicist 10 місяців тому

    Interesting. And good advice. I was a MM, which I didn't enjoy. I always thought MA would be a job I would've enjoyed a lot more.
    You mentioned swimmers. Can MAs become divers? When I was in the Navy, divers, EOD, and SEALs were not their own ratings. If you wanted to go into those fields, you had to be in a "source rating", which is one that allows you to go into those fields. And when you completed the training, you kept your original rating, but gain another NEC. So you'd have SEALs, EOD, and divers who were BMs, BTs, MMs, and so on. Now, they're all their own ratings (SEALs are SO, EOD are EOD, and divers are ND).
    If MAs can become divers, do they keep their MA rating, or switch to ND?

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  10 місяців тому

      That's no longer necessary, you can go straight to diver, straight to SEAL, etc. Still, you can go from MA to BUD/S to try to become a SEAL after some time but I'm not sure about Diver off hand.

      If you're an MA already but going to Lackland for C school, that's covered in the video in the second half. The only stuff not covered is the fact that if you're an MA2 or whatever and going back to Texas for C school you may be expected to take a leadership role for the new MAs. I hear returnees are expected to stand watch like anyone else, which wasn't true before. Lastly, being at Lackland was seen by the returnees in my class as a vacation. Sure, you can be stationed some cool places but also some places you'd really never go on your own accord. Yeah you might get Japan, Spain, Italy, etc. but you also might get Bahrain, Guam, Diego Garcia, places some people really do not want. The best bet for traveling is a ship since you'll stop at some cool places every once in a while for the ship to refuel and restock. While other ratings are usually on the ship, MAs spend most of their time on land and actually stay in countries instead of just visit. Every rating has its ups and downs.
