Correction: The army fitness test information is outdated, they actually perform: t-pushups or hand release pushups, standing power throw, spring drag carry, 3 rep max deadlift, plank, and a 2 mile run. These actually MAY require practice in a gym.
This seems like great advice, especially since I’m in a similar situation. I’m pretty lean and have low body strength, but I plan to utilize my university’s free gym for students. I’m a college student thinking of doing Officer Training School at the Air Force after I graduate.
Thank you brother 🙏great advice I am 33 working on my running and push up getting better every day How ever still confused with the swimming part I am a okey swimmer still working on it Thanks again for the great content!!!!!
If you can swim the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool, without flailing around, you will have no problem passing the swim your first time around.
Great video. Straight to the point and presented/edited well. I appreciate how you emphasize doing what you can when you can. The Navy ended up giving me the run-around but the Army is going to bat for me. I go to MEPS next week for them as a 13B. I’m a scrawny 26 year-old 5’11/145lbs kickboxer so I gotta get my pushups and deadlifts in , haha. I’m giving myself at least two months from signing before I go to BCT.
Thanks. You can try a different recruiting office or recruiter before giving up on the Navy, but if you think the army is a better fit then hey here's to you.
@@HaedenBeck It ended up being the best bet to go with the Army after looking at my 5 year plan with the Mrs’s. Plus they had the specific combat arms MOS open here that I wanted and I scored well high enough for it. No shade to the Navy! I’ve been told the same about it being different for every individual recruiter. By the way, as a history major, it would be cool if you did some videos on various US Navy sailors, officers, and events one day. Idk if that’s your style. That raid that Admiral John Jones did on the *actual British mainland* during the American War of Independence was crazy to learn about.
@@hornetnezt Even I got basically ghosted by a recruiter and met up with a different one, but both were in the same office. They got a lot of names flying around and they probably can't tell who's really serious and who is just dipping toes. Yeah I’m 18, 6’2 140 lbs so I’m pretty skinny and I can barely do 10 pushups I leave in September so I definitely have time. Any tips on what I should eat to gain a little weight
Meat and potatoes, mass gainer perhaps. You should talk to a doctor or dietician before making major changes. What I did to go from 120 pounds to 150 was just eat a bunch of mcdonalds every lunch, I don't recommend that.
Hey Haeden I ship out for boot camp (June 4th) I wanted to ask about sports in the navy, especially while being a Master At Arms would I be able to pursue Boxing, or is their just not enough time for it?
Sure, there's very long work days but on off days you have a lot of time. People usually fill the time with gaming and the gym. Boxing is a great choice.
All branches pay the same base rate by dod paygrade, which can be googled. However there's also extra pay on top. There's a whole video about this and this answer is really not a great example to use but as an E4 in Bahrain my paycheck is around $1,500 twice a month. So $3,000.
For the actual PRT yeah, or the treadmill, but in boot camp if you couldn't pass the run you were retested, and if you failed that you were sent back in training.
@@HaedenBecknot true any more. They will put people on the bike who fail the run, and will ASMO the failures into a holding unit until they pass. @@HaedenBeck I’m so happy I’ve finally met Navy waist and weight requirement for my age and height, but I will continue losing more weight and practicing my run 🏃🏾♀️ pushups and planks. That's not my area, but generally speaking you need very high fitness standards. Just tell MEPS you want to go to such and such a program and if you qualify with your fitness standards and ASVAB you'll get signed up for it. Just be advised that 70-85% of people fail BUD/S, often times because of injuries.

@@Jojo-z9x7q Well I wish you the best of luck, you're getting pretty close to the max age for SEAL without waivers. Just know that if you don't pass the training they'll make you do something else and you'll still be in for 4+ years. I hope you pass BUD/S!
@@Jojo-z9x7q I met a few people who failed BUD/S training, all of them failed the first week of it. It's THAT hard. I believe it's after 2 years, you can go back and try again.
I'm grateful to have enlisted a few days ago. I am grateful to have the opportunity to better myself, my family, my friends, and risk my own life to serve the country that had given me so many great things and experiences with amazing people

Navy: push ups, plank, 1,5 miles running and swimming
Swimming, exercise bike, treadmill, there are different options. But pushups, planks, and 1.5 mile run is all I've ever done
I agree. Lose weight and get in shape. Pushups. Run. Planks. I agreed 👍🏾

No situps in the navy, noted

Does the navy have a "fat camp" like the army?
There's a program called FEP where you do extra exercises on a schedule if you can't pass the annual fitness test.
I leave for Great Lakes June 5th

Please do not join the military and be a mindless pawn.
