I love Great White too, sadly there are 2 versions now. I still take Jack Russell's Great White over the other version, he tackled his demons and has been sober now for years. He still sounds great too. I sing along to their old songs like this every few days, am a singer because I simply love to sing. But yeah this song definitely gives all the feels...

these were the greatest songs written. BUT, you had to have lived wham they were written, and sung. The times were different then...its REALLY hard to explain...but these songs reached the deepest parts of your soul as almost every song was relatable to thru either a lost love, or just simply a situation that you had gone though,or are going through at the time you heard them. for me,... this is what i grew up with... and i was privileged to see these bands live, and the songs sounded the same as the did on the "album"...i just feel bad for those who never had the chance to live then, to have hadlthe chance to see such a performance as these, all these bands once gave...i know i will NEVER forget the shows i saw!》

    Fallen angel ripped and bruised
    Think on better days
Life is rude, treats you bad
    Tears your wings away
Raise your eyes to star and sky
    Believe in fly always
Take your dreams, your broken schemes
    And sweep the past away
    Fly lonely angel
    High above these streets
    Fly lonely angel
    Far away from mad desire
    Hollywood ain't paved with gold
It's just a trick of light
Sunset falls on stars of old
And blinds you with its light
A spiders web of tangled lives
    Lays stretched across the hills
    From distances it's glistening
    Like El Dorado's halls
    Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
    Fly lonely angel
    Far away from mad desire
    The dream was light
    And fragrant nights
But how were you to know
    The streets are hard
    They're mean and scared
    Where only fools find gold
    Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
    Fly lonely angel
    Far away from mad desire
    Fly lonely angel
    Spread your wings another way
    Fly lonely angel
    Find a better way
    A better day

TodayWasAGoodDay9 yes I agree. Great White opened up for Judas priest back.in 1984 at Madison square garden. While my sister and boyfriend were huge priest fans I went to go see great white. I was a teenager. And they were incredible and better than priest. I just recently saw great white at viejas two weeks ago, again incredible.

What an incredible song, what good instrumental arrangements, that guitar solo gives a lot of feeling to the song and that lyrics is for reflection. To hell with those people who say that glam metal is plastic music, these bands were and are incredible, these bands were made up of true musicians, from excellent instrumentalists to very capable composers. The 80s ended in years, but artistically they will be present forever. this song is 1,000,000 times better than all this modern "music". People, this is art, this is MUSIC.

I have a 15 year old son. He was so excited to see Motley Crue twice. He wants to go see Def Leppard. I'm trying to gather the money. He has seen them before. He loves Poison. You might laugh but me being 39 got him into Black Veil Brides. If you are looking for amazing bands like the 80's 90's stuff.... Crashdiet is like a modern Skid Row. Negative is just amazing. Reckless Love, kind of cheesy but fun. These bands are from Sweden and Finland. I go to Finland every year. My friend is in a band called Groupie High School over there. I can keep up with those youngins lol At least for a few weeks.

There are no words that could try to convey the chasm that is in my heart listening to this and thinking about my wife i lost to cancer when she was only 27.
she was beautiful and i am glad that she knew how much she meant to me. She never had to wonder about what her husband thought.
This was a song that we shared our deepest longings and achieved so much to.

Thank you and God Bless your heart.
There is a tragic story, more so than you could imagine with this. Maybe one day i will come to grips with it. There have been many, many nights of thoughts of what i wish i could have done and the pain of feeling helpless.
I encounter these again when i hear this song. She was precious to me.
The comfort comes from the fact that i know that there is no doubt she knows how much she was loved and adored.
I have found happiness again. The Lord blessed me with a sweet loving wife that i love very much. I have made a dedication to the Lord in my soul to let her know everyday how much she is loved and cared for and that there is nothing i would not do for her. I am so thankful and blessed.
I do not speak about the horror of watching someone i loved so deeply die right before my eyes and being helpless to stop her suffering. i have never endured such mental strain it changed me forever. But, i would be remiss if i did not acknowledge what i feel when i hear this song. It is strange how beautiful it is yet torturous to my soul.
My wife now knows what it did to me and we move on.
But i will never forget the secrets that were shared and the love we had.

I am happy to have had them as participants in the soundtrack of my life when I was in my teens. Its hard to believe how fast adulthood and senior years have crept upon us,especially when seeing this video that instantly takes us back to the era and time we first heard it. Life is too short. RIP Mr Russell,we all will forever be grateful for what you have given us.
