Haven't really mentioned it before, but I appreciate the care you put in your animations and all the off-screen pixeling (ie. the perspective examples and the text). Really puts your videos a cut above.
Lovely, I really like the jump from one house to a whole set of different houses built using the same style - creating whole set that works well together instead of a separate object :)
Thanks! Yeah it feels like a win-win; getting to reuse large parts of the design but also creating a cohesive set (like if this were used within a single town, for example) :D
Love the texturing on these, especially the way you break up the long plank shapes with other shades. Is there a specific technique you use to do these, or do you just add them in randomly?
Fun Fact: The triangular shape on the front of the first house created by the sloped roof-the section on which you've drawn the broken horizontal lines-is called a _gable._
Damn nice work Brandon, you make it look so easy, very inspiring!!! These little top-down houses remind me fondly of my Pokémon playing childhood so much, I'd love to see a made-up Pokémon village or recreation in your style.
Fantasy is a curious thing. I watched one minute and already imagined myself developing a Stardew-Valley-esque game... ^^ How about another small project: different versions of a simple or complex well? From dephi to waterbucket there should be plenty of tasks and solutions in pixel art :D
What a lovely look!! I loved the density of detail in the highlights & shadows with a limited palette, it was really nice to see a video really shine a spotlight on this style! 😎 The different renderings looked gorgeous on the CRT too!! 😁✨
I love all of your videos, and this is one of my favorite. This feels like an updated pokemon gameboy style (to me!) and it's very cute and fantasy filled. I'd love to see what you could do if you made a small town scene in this style, like how you make scenes in your other styles!
Since you made it originally in a 4 value scale I think it would have been neat to see your thought process of translating it into the 8 color palette.
the different angles of the side of the roof, because the front side of the house itself wasn't changed, look less like we're looking at it from different angles, but rather that we're looking at a shallower angled roof
I started watching a tutorial series on making gb games using gbdk and would love to see you work with the game boy tile designer and game boy map builder.
Wow that's amazing! Thanks for this tutorial! I wanted to ask you something, what is that technique of using grayscale and then applying a color overlay called? Thanks for the great videos
Thanks! Hmm I'm not sure I've ever heard a proper or common term for that workflow tbh, but perhaps the closest thing would be referring to it as the colour "value" - what we're doing with the greyscale work is setting up what the image contrast is gonna be. Hope that helps! I've got a video more about it here (if you haven't already seen): ua-cam.com/video/PdXpUIATzO0/v-deo.html
Hello! I love your videos and I want to start learning pixel art. Regarding this video, what canvas size did you use and what resolution? I tried 100x100px with a resolution of 72ppp but I'm not sure these are the correct settings.
I don't know if it's just because I've been playing it a lot these past few days, but some of these house designs give me Pokémon Legends Arceus vibes. Now I'm wondering what Jubilife Village would look like in pixel art form.
my only issue with all these houses is that there is an implied 2nd perspective that isn't being used, therefore making all 4 houses that you made look totally wrong to my eye. Mostly the bottom of the houses should not be a rectangle, but rather more like an upside-down trapezoid.

Really puts your videos a cut above.
ditto

Your ability to break up plain areas and make them more interesting is amazing. It never ceases to amaze me in every video.
RT. This guy is amazing at Pixel Art.
I love how you're able to take something daunting and explain it in a way that makes it seem approachable!
Love the texturing on these, especially the way you break up the long plank shapes with other shades. Is there a specific technique you use to do these, or do you just add them in randomly?
Thanks! The application is pretty random tbh, but a lot of times I'll try to keep an even distribution at the very least :)
man I want you to make a game! It would be so cool to let your imagination create an entire world and then we could all go explore it!
This aged really well.
Fun Fact: The triangular shape on the front of the first house created by the sloped roof-the section on which you've drawn the broken horizontal lines-is called a _gable._
one of my favorite videos of yours so far! i love the house designs. the perfect amount of detail and weathering on a simple design.
Definitely the best weekend content on UA-cam for me!
Damn nice work Brandon, you make it look so easy, very inspiring!!! These little top-down houses remind me fondly of my Pokémon playing childhood so much, I'd love to see a made-up Pokémon village or recreation in your style.
Thank you so much! I'm just now getting into pixel art. It's really helpful to see your workflow. This was awesome
I love the pixel art designs of the houses! Keep up the good work!
There is just something satisfying watching someone make art.
Wish you a good day! :D
My favorite part of this video is how you handled the shingles on the houses.
You really show off the strengths of the medium.
I prefer aseprite, but always enjoy watching artists work in Photoshop with pixel art! Amazing work as always!
Fantasy is a curious thing. I watched one minute and already imagined myself developing a Stardew-Valley-esque game... ^^

The first thing that came to my mind was Pokemon.

Thanks man! 😁 Always love the look of 4-colour palettes like this; so efficient and effective! And thanks - was having a good CRT day on this one! ✨
the new videos always surprised me, and I seems learned a lot from this video.
Aww man you're the best pixel artist this perfectly helped me
Looks great i always had problems making buildings for my games this will really help
I genuenly love these designs. So beautiful.
Oooh there's some good ideas like the rim at the bottom and those pixels missing to show planks... I need to take notes!
Gives me a completely different perspective on pixel art styled games - 🔥🔥🔥
Really nice. Every time I come here I learn something new
Absolutely love Gameboy look, very inspiring video, makes me want to go and try and make a top down house right now
I learned a thing from this thank you for making this video as it helped me make better house sprites.

Your videos are so relaxing. That’s all I have to say.
You always amuse me with how little the colours used can change a picture
u are so talented omg !!!!
Amazing, would love to see more of top-down
thank you for this, it sounds very simple but looks so beautiful and detailed!
If only it was as easy and quick as your videos make it seem XD. Great little pixely houses.
Since you made it originally in a 4 value scale I think it would have been neat to see your thought process of translating it into the 8 color palette.
Yeah, this could be awesome
Impressive as always
great work man! always fine tips
Going to have to watch this one a couple of times.
Cool video. I’ve been wanting to improve my pixel art
I have never done any pixel art but htis made me want to start!
Thanks Brandon!
How is this guy so cool?
the different angles of the side of the roof, because the front side of the house itself wasn't changed, look less like we're looking at it from different angles, but rather that we're looking at a shallower angled roof
Oh yeah that interpretation works as well, especially if both designs were to appear together!
Beautiful work.make a tutorial on tree plz.
What is the best size for making one whole scene? Example making a park. How many pixels? I wish there’s a tutorial for sizing
Love you work man! And would love to see a colab with Vimlark or other game dev :)
Just incredible
Awesome, high level
Yaaa! Let's do it!
I started watching a tutorial series on making gb games using gbdk and would love to see you work with the game boy tile designer and game boy map builder.
Hello, can someone could explain the exact manipulations made to duplicate the form and apply a symetry at 0:41?
Thanks :)
awesome video, thank you so much!
Damn thats cool
Amazing😍😍

do you have videos about the interior of top down buildings
at last a new video :3

These houses remind me gb pokemon games :)
Hey Brandon. Just wondering, who does the background music on your videos? Great video btw!
how do capture your CRT so cleanly without the black line?
also how do you get the image onto the crt
CRT time = BEST time
How do you decide the height of the roof will be in that angle? Like do you count the pixel height or just do what feels and looks right?
What drawing tools (like tablet) do you use for your art?
I don't know if it's just because I've been playing it a lot these past few days, but some of these house designs give me Pokémon Legends Arceus vibes.
Now I'm wondering what Jubilife Village would look like in pixel art form.
What's the name of the eight-color palette?
Hey Brandon,
I have an idea for a video for you!
That sly little cat in almost every one of your videos!
You should do a video on pixel art cats.
how did you come up with the resolution for the house? (48x32)
Very informative
If someone were to show me just the houses I would say they're from the first Pokemon games, really cool
WOW
Hello sir maybe you can make a pixel art tutorial in photoshop for beginners from size to finish 🙏🙏
i love your videos
What was the length of the less "pointy" roof?
Edit: Nevermind, the height is 32 pixels and the width is 64.
why do you use photoshop instead of aseprite?
Dude. Just.... 🤯
awesome
the gameboy palette is like a template palette lol. so many gb style palettes out there
Notification squad where you at
thank man
Can someone share background grid from this video?
Hey Is There A Way To Send You Pixelart
I'm making a pixel art game

Feels like the person that lives there is about ready to go and start their pokemon journey...
👍
i thought i was watching a super old video when i saw 20 views lol

looks somewhat like pokemon houses :)
