- I thought I’d take some time to answer a few common questions I receive about both pixel art and myself! In this video, I work on a new top-down scene and we discuss getting better at pixel art, using a mouse or a tablet, and whether or not I’ll ever make a game! :D
My online shop is NOW OPEN, check it out here - rdbl.co/bjgpixel (…and be sure to search online for Redbubble COUPON CODES, you can usually find something!) :D

Oooooh I'm gonna need to keep an eye out for wall space to fill, now!
I'm making a game right now, and I have watched sooo many of your videos and with all of my sprites, I have used your tutorials, like I didn't even know how to do pixel art before I found your channel!
Wicked, thanks for watching and good luck with your game!
@@BJGpixel you know, my profile is one of my sprites that you helped me with 😄
I love your videos please start to make pixel entertainment sometimes cuz you make tutorials way too much
PLEASE put "I make pictures out of tiny squares" in a shirt
That would be *perfect*
yes
yes YES YES!!!
All of his quotes should be on a shirt
@@ultleo839 That is a great ideo!
i cant believe you're using a track pad for all of your art. Absolute legend
Wow this is great, it looks like a Pokémon city on Steroids.
Hahaha, I love that style so much, big inspiration here
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that you inspired me into trying to make pixel art again! It's been a while since I've really put effort into making anything and you're videos really helped me get back into the groove of making art! Thank you.
That's great to hear, welcome back to pixel art! :D
@@BJGpixel I would show you what I have so far but I don't really know how.
@@strangegrey3868 twitter or instagram dm would probably be the best ways
Now that we've got a name, I'm excited to see Nano the Monkey's lore grow with every piece
oh its gonna grow, and big.
It better XD
Fun fact: if you remove the letters B, R and D from Brandon's name, you get ''an'' and ''on'', so we get ''Nano''.
Very smart!
8:06, if you want, you can try to do a game jam with a programmer,
It can take from 24h to a week (it can vary wildly from one jam to another) and at the end you have a game ^^.
PS : i would love to watch a video where you create assets for a game
That is a brilliant content idea!
Great idea! I tried joining a game jam as an artist, and it was so fun, especially seeing your work move around in a game!
I see brandon making things with tiny squares, I click. I'm a simple man.
I've said it in the community post, but I just wanna say it again.
You're my new inspiration for trying out this art style that have shaped many of my childhood, from pokemon to dodgy gameboy games to megaman battle network.
I really love the way your present your content and teach me stuff! I hope your channel grows bigger and let more people know about Nano and the beauty of pixel art!
You have such a calming personality, and make me excited about making pixel art.
Can I just say that you somehow made me try pixel art again?
It's always a pleasure watching these videos and seeing your tutorials.
It's so great making pictures with tiny squares.
I've tried pixel art few months ago for our game that we used to represent for our thesis but after that i just gave up because i feel like im not progressing anymore but by watching all your video listening to your tips and guide i progress dramatically no exaggeration.
I love the tone of your videos, dude. They're chill and endearing, but also educational. Always relaxing to watch them!
Lovin this piece and the Q&A! Really fun to learn more about you and your perspective on these things :)
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on UA-cam! The effort in, not just the art, but the video itself is noticeable
love your videos! hearing about some more of your process really inspires me! 👏
your artwork is amazing, and i enjoyed the q&a format very much :] your thorough answers are very helpful. also, congrats on opening your shop!!
ayyy you're almost at 50k Brandon! So glad to be on this journey with ya
i just want to say that I appreciate all the work you put into making your art and your videos! Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing :)
Your art is amazing, it really sparks my imagination.
And you're so chill it's always relaxing to hear you.
Thanks for the pixels!
You're videos are great! I genuinely look forward to them coming out 😄
i had been trying pixel art but you're vids inspire my pieces a ton! thanks bro!
Amazing Brandon! Another great video! I wish you success with the new store. I'm certainly going to take a look!
A game made with this style could be really unique. There's something particularly special about this style of pixelart
Id love to see a Text adventure with Nano! like Nano and the adventures of Banana City or something...
Another great video Brandon! That finished piece looks amazing!
You literally have the best pixel art tutorials on youtube! I'm using them in my digital art classes in year 5 and 6 to teach students about pixel art and game design.
I always look forward to your videos, man!
Mad respect brother. You create such beautiful, detailed artwork just using a mac is something commendable. all the very best for your future work.
Yo! Just wanted to say thank you for making this channel. Your videos inspired me to try pixel art and all your tutorial videos are some of the best on UA-cam.
Keep up the awesome work!
Always love your pixel art work!
You're videos are super well made and it's kinda therapeutic to watch your process. I've been trying to put together my own GameBoy style game for a while now and you've done a ton in terms of helping me improve the pixel art! Keep up the great work and good luck with the shop!
Thanks so much and good luck with your GB project! :D
I absolutely love your stuff man! Keep it square!
Hey brandon i love your stuff and find you really inspiring and i thought that maybe you could do a video and those swooshy action lines (i believe that is the technical term) once again love your vids and thanks for helping me out
Thank you for using the correct technical terminology, and yeah I think they'll definitely come up again, maybe with a focus on animation :D
I love pixel art in general, but man I love it even more by watching your videos :D
Waiting for the next nano park city adventures series
Nice!!! Loved the piece! Thanks to encouraging me to start!! It's such a fun time making my own pieces.. learning little by little!!!
I love your channel! You inspired me to do pixel art! Thank you!
Q&A is amazing, it will help so many new artists, like me. I've been trying out pixel art, having been inspired by your videos. Off to order a print of the Garage 3 cyberpunk scene now, I love that one! 😍
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the print and best of luck with your art! :D
i learn a lot from your videos. thank you for sharing your knowledge 💕
This is really cool! Your a huge inspiration to me!
You have a real talent for this stuff. So inspiring to watch. I'm making a top down RPG game with a retro pixel art style and watching your content really gets my creative juices flowing 👍👍
Hello. I know this is an old video and I'm late to comment, but you are the first person that I enjoy watching doing pixel art after I started being into pixel art these days! Thanks for the tips! You helped me a lot on how to improve my works. ^^
Hoping for more Q&A videos like this. Thanks for putting out this great content! 😊
AMAZING ART BRO
you make me inspired soo much
I started dabbing a little in pixel art some good years ago, but at that time I felt UA-cam didn't have as many good channels as it has today. I am starting again the pixel art adventure to learn how to make the art for a game I want to make one day. Your content is really amazing and your videos are super high quality. Thank you for this awesome content and keep it up!
Your videos are so helpful and so much fun to watch! As a baby pixel artist I've found these so educational and entertaining. Thank you for making them!
Thank you, that's nice to hear! Thanks for watching and best of luck with your pixel art journey! 😁👍
after your videos got me back into pixel art I started looking for other art talks and stumbled into a number of more traditional lessons. They have helped me a ton and would definitely recommend others pursue it.
Also enjoyed this Q/A style video. Will buy a shirt or mug if you come out with a "I make pictures out of tiny squares" themed item.
That was so great to watch!
Thanks you for your amazing work!
I've recently started work on my own game, inspired by the Mega Man Battle Network series among others, and must say your tutorials have been very helpful with bettering my pixel art! I still know little to no coding, so for the time being my game exists solely through concept art, documents and early graphics, but I'll keep trying to progress on it every week, regardless of how many years it'll take! :D Thank you for the wonderful videos!
So cute!
Just discovered this channel, and im inspired to explore and learn this kind of art. Thank you! Subscribed 💕
Holy faith of the holy jesus your art and tutorials are amazing! :D i consider them my principal inspiration for pixel art! :D
Good luck with 'Mega Mania' and of course, thank you very much
That’s flipping amazing. Can’t wait to be able to do pixel art even a tiny bit as good.
This just made my day :)
hey i've also started making pixel art after watching a couple of these! Thanks for your videos!!!
thank you for sharing!!!!
That was a really fun video!
Dope vid I love your channel!
Beautiful!
Your videos have a really nice homemade vibe
This is the best pixel art channel on youtube!
I think you're very good at explaining your thought process and reasoning behind putting a little square in the right place. Best of luck. I hope you make craploads of money on UA-cam.
He really explained wanting to make a game because you love pixel art, and create pixel art so so well. I love and make pixelart as a hobby and it’s so weird how you feel the need to make a game after creating a piece. Probably because ideas flood your head of how the game could incorporate everything. Idk If that’s how it is for everyone, but it’s definitely that way for me
You’re such a huge inspiration. How do you not have more subscribers??
This video came out at just the right time! Just a few days ago I began working on my first real game in GB Studio, which will feature a small town. And your art style always inspires me so much whenever I see it!
Kailynn good luck on making your game!
Oh awesome, good luck with your project, GB Studio seems like a cool program :)
Thank you, you two! Yeah, GB Studio seems to be really great so far! I feel lucky that I discovered it! :D
I’ve never heard of GB studio but after searching it up it looks like something that I could maybe get my head around! Thanks for sharing it!
My wrist started hurting when you said "trackpad". Great video and tips tho!
Started to binge watch him and kept thinking "wow, this is exactly something that my dad would watch"
And then I stumble upon this and vividly remember my dad watching it on the couch! I love/hate this man's art. It's so appealing and has given me a new appreciation for pixel art. But his art makes me want the games to be real, and knowing that I'll never be able to play as Hana or Nano makes my monkey (or Nano haha) part of my brain go insane
Maaan, I love your channel.
Thank you so for great lesson 💚💚
Thanks for being so consistently inspirational ;)
P.S if you make a shirt with a non 1-bit design, I'd defintley buy it.
your animation its awesome i love them
That bit at 4:00 - 5:00 was very helpful. Thanks
Nice job!
Such a nice piece. Makes me realize I never push my limits and always end up with some lame house when trying to draw towns.
Love your Style
Great video as always huhuhu I'm interested in how you animate the final output. Is it possible you show the animation part as well? Hehehe thank you!
Gr8 work as always! Definitely agree with you on preference of tools to use for art. I started of course with a ✏️ but then dabbled with painting, markers, india ink, oil paints, then early 2000s is when I started hitting up the digital realm but always hand drew and still do. I think you adapt to your mediums by allowing ones self to experiment with techniques.
I'm actually trying out pixel art on my phone with just a stylus pen not a samsung pen or apple pencil, just plain old rubberized stylus and I am really getting hooked on experimenting in this pixel realm thanks to Saultoons new Challenge 🤣
Awesome! I wonder what a piece with a “shallower” top-down perspective would look like... Kinda in between the side view and top down look I guess?
my main workplace is a mac mini, and i've got two "pointing devices" on my desk: a trackpad, and a trackball. haven't owned a real mouse in years! one thing that i find really fun after making some pixel art is to bring it into the real world with cross-stitch :3
You're the reason I got into pixel art and I can't thank you enough :)
this never dissapoints
Hey, I really love your work, I don't even make pixel art lol. SUGGESTION: Can you perhaps do a series where you take suggestions from us and make shorter videos perhaps about them, seeing that it would be 1 object. Or maybe you can draw a few suggestions in one art piece. But part of the idea is that we'd give you things that we might think are impossible to draw as pixel art, or maybe it's something we struggle with ourselves and would like to see how someone else would go about drawing it.
Your approach and the passion you put into this videos is inspiring. Is there any discord channel where we can find you for suggestions? Keep up the amazing work.
your art is perfect i would like to learn how to make pixel art like this
More please :< I love your works bro. You deserve a million subscribers. You should start making your own fandom like you can call us your squares/pixies hahahaha.
i would love to walk around nano park city, talking to npcs, doing little puzzles and quests. if u ever do design a game id definitely play!
awesome!
Subscribed! Thanks for the tips
I think this is a good place to start for beginners to pixel art. I've said it before but I find the fact that you just use a trackpad to be inspirational because we can get caught up in our gear sometimes! 😁
Nano is a great name btw, can't wait to see more of'em!!
Thanks dude! Haha I'm kinda embarrassed by the trackpad sometimes but it just became the norm. Would love to be more techie minded about how I approach it but that's the reality lol
@@BJGpixel It's nothing to be embarrassed about!! Reminds me of that line, "Tony Stark built this in a cave! ...With a box of scraps!!" Hahaha
@@CKTDanny 😂😂😂
2:06 your welcome! I’m intrigued by pixel art and when I’m older I will become a video game maker!
Also I love your vids
I love your pixel art but could you please create a top down sprite tutorial. Keep up the great vids!
I’m just trying to make a video game but I’m struggling with a character.
We love u nano
Amazing!!!! 😱
You should do a piece with the limitations of a Gameboy cartridge in the Gameboy color, where the sprites or Sprite like things have a four color pallette, and the backgrounds have a different four color pallette, you could even work with one of the actual pallettes on the game boy color
I made this one with a focus on a singular 4-color Super Gameboy palette: ua-cam.com/video/PdXpUIATzO0/v-deo.html - but didn't take into account the option of alternative palette for the sprite vs background, that seems like the logical sequel vid to make now :D
awesome
I do mine with the MacBook trackpad also. For the same reason. House nomad.
Did I hear a repeating “lick” in the background music?
