    Awesome recipe! I live a few blocks away from a burek restaurant! They make amazing beef and onion, cheese, and spinach bureks! The filo dough is definitely the star! Flaky and delicious! :D I never actually knew how they made it, thanks for sharing the recipe!

    THEIR RECIPE IS AS FOLLOWSŞ
    For the top of borek:
    1 egg
    2 Tbs yogurt
    To soften the filo pastry;
    1 egg
    3 tbs yogurt
    4 tbs vegetable oil
    ½ cup of water
    For the filling:
    1 lbs (450g) of ground beef
    1 big onion
    2 tsp. red pepper flakes
    2 tsp. black pepper
    4 tbs vegetable oil
    Cut each filo in half and spread a line of ground meat on each one, than roll the pastry. This borek is also called as Rolled Borek or Kol Boreği. This is probably one of the most traditional Turkish food. Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions about the recipe. See our list of ingredients below. Bon Appetit! Roast chopped onions in vegetable oil Add ground beef to the roasted onions When it is cooked season with red pepper flakes, black pepper and salt Let it cool down Beat and egg with yogurt Add vegetable oil Cut filo in half Brush some of the egg-yogurt mix on filo pastry Transfer the borek into a large round tray you greased For the top of the borek, mix an egg with yogurt (without water and oil this time) Bake for approx. 35-40 minutes on 200C (400F) pre-heated oven.     I am making this right now. As a Mexican, I Looooooove foods from other countries. Since I had no yogurt, I used sour cream and I added lots of cayenne pepper to the meat because I love spicy. I’ll let you know how it turned out 😊

    Thanks for sharing. You filo looks diffrent from the filo in the box. The boxed filos come in rectangular shapes. Which brand of filo did you use? Do you live in Europe or the States?

    Mine turned out dark brown instead of golden brown on top (not burnt though) i used greek yoghurt and egg. Not sure what i did wrong :(

      Yea we share A lot Food. That One you talk about also exist in turkey but we dont have a special name for it. They are all just böreks with different filing. Of course there are different kind of böreks too however they are not simple like this and require mastery. Some of them are pretty interesting i can try to find English recipes in home if u are interested.

    For all that work it doesn’t look like it would have much flavor. No seasonings or herbs. Just salt, pepper and onion. Not even any garlic.
