    I love how in a 15 round mag dump on the gong (low, low, low, tree, low, low, low, low, tree, low, low, low, low, low, low) with the camera zoomed in on the target, John doesn't say a word about where all the rounds are impacting. Tough love at the Hickok45 compound.

    I work for an FFL and we have had two Reflexs come back with cracked frames. Both cracks starting from left of center on the rear of the frame right under the slide and going down the left side of the pistol about 1/3 of the way down. In both cases FN blames remanufactured or reloaded ammunition which of course isn't covered by their warranty but offered the customer a replacement price for a new one for around $380.
    Frankly on any other pistol I would think that FN was in the right but I'm one retailer and I've seen two which is like getting struck by lightning while getting eaten by a shark.

      Is the Reflex rated for +P ammo?

    • @nickm8940
      @nickm8940 10 місяців тому +8

      @@cesarebeccaria7641 Yes. Yes it is. I'm kind of in the boat that feels it shouldn't matter though. I'm certainly not an expert but my understanding is that proofing is going to put a cartridge through that gun at 30-40% over industry standard pressure. +P is going to generate anywhere from 10-20% more pressure than a standard load. Which means that even if the gun wasn't rated for +P it should handle multiple firings. Do I need to say 'Don't do that under any circumstances'? But the point remains. It IS rated for +P and the frame cracked. It's either the polymer or a bad batch of springs that aren't slowing the slide enough before it runs out of travel. Regardless...two of them? In exactly the same way?

    I carried a P365 for over a year with a 12 round magazine and found it the perfect IWB EDC. On a whim, I bought a WC 365XL grip and I re-fell in love with the gun. About a year after that,, I started missing having an optic, because there was no cut for it. I was floating around my local gun store and saw a new P365XL cut for optics and the ability to co-witness, so I plunked down my money, took it home, put the slide and barrel on my WCXLG, which has an Armory Trigger and spring kit, and added a Holosun 407K green dot, and it was a revelation. The gun is absolutely amazing with the extra 1/2" barrel and the Holosun almost feels like cheating, it's so easy and quick to sight. I can't imagine a better, more reliable, accurate setup in a compact. The Armory trigger and spring kit are much smoother with less creep and a shorter reset than the stock XL, although, surprisingly, the XL was about 1/2 a pound lighter. If I had to recommend a carry gun, my setup is Nirvana, and I feel blessed and confident it's in my waistband.

So I jumped on purchasing one. It has been the best firearm (pistol) that I have ever owned. I later bought an FN45, and I'm looking at a 509C now, but now I am thinking perhaps this Reflex might be the ankle pistol I am looking for. The trigger was crunchy at first but after 200-300 rds it loosened up and it's my go to for shooting now if you like a little bit bigger of a CCW then get the 509C but if you want smaller go for the reflex. It's personal preference so for me I have larger hands so the 509c was the route I took and love it.

    I’ve been shooting Underwood/LAX Ammo for a little over a year now. I’ve bought their New and Reloaded in 115gr FMJ and 147 in the Hollow Point non carry/ target shooting rounds. They are far more reliable and cheaper than buying the 100rd white box Winchester. I’ve never had a firing or feeding issue, no jams at all. Also they are just as accurate for me as the Hollow Point carry ammo that I use, which is Hornaday Critical Defense 115gr and 147gr.
    TLDR Underwood Ammo is good stuff.

That was the thinking behind that requirement that had the Sig P226 and Beretta in the competition that Beretta won. Clearly they've dropped that requirement since they're now using a striker fired gun.

    Both are good choices...I have owned an FN 503 for several years that's excellent. However both of these and my FN are still too big for pocket carry in jeans( smaller pockets than cargo pockets that any of these can be carried); the best pistol for me for extraction from pocket carry of jeans is the old Berretta Nano which has edges smoother than butter, extremely accurate and has always shot after 1000's of rounds with 124 grain or above( all the notorious functions issues of FTE/FF are from using 115 grain); trigger isn't the best but it doesn't affect accuracy with practice. That's a Sig edge. I have two P365 frames--the original and an XL. The XL frame cost $50 and took five minutes to swap. I may try another or an aftermarket frame. The Sig got to market early and generated enough sales to justify lots of accessories by Sig and 3rd parties. FN makes high quality products, but their Reflex is a bit late to a market saturated with S&W Shields and P365's, plus a couple million Rugers and SA's...and in an anti-gun political environment. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to buy one in California, for example.
