Man, I knew dual destinies had a weird timeline, but to have a whole another game set in between cases 4 and 5 while Athena is in jail? Now that's storytelling!
I kinda love Dual Destinies for its shocking ending. They really make you play this case, wondering who the killer is, and then in the end it’s revealed it was Athena, she gets arrested and the game ends. It really shocks you how a character you played and was so friendly to you turn out as a villain. They really don’t take much time for Phoenix to process it, resulting in you having to deal with the shock for yourself. The ending certainly was risky, but dang it paid off.
ig she won't be in SoJ, so sad. I'm sure they would've given her an incredibly key role in the plot and given her a major case of her own, were she included

Jacques Portsman is definitely in my Top 10 Ace Attorney pun names, maybe even top 5. I think he's just super memorable for that alone. Just managed to finish my playthrough of the Apollo Justice Trilogy in time for this one! So hyped to play the second Investigations games, finally.
That fight over who got to be the main voice slew me! Can confirm, blood does have a very distinct smell. The closest I could describe it for those who haven't experienced it, is warm, raw beef. It ain't pleasant. Gumshoe: What's logic, pal? Edgeworth: Um, when two pieces of information love each other very much... Gumshoe doesn't use his gun, except in emergencies or to show Pearl. The tea set costs more than Gumshoe's monthly paycheck? But he's impoverished. It's probably quite reasonably priced... Jaques Portsman?! But I have my own methods, and I'll do it the Wright way--- Wait no! Damn! MY way! Agreed on the "eureka" not being the best catchphrase. "Aha!" or "Got it!" would have been better, imo. But they had to make him sound big brained and nerdy somehow.
Well, they probably intended to make Gumshoe more sympathetic, saying he never uses his gun. But uh... it sounds like he never practices with it at the shooting-range. So if an emergency does happen, he won't have the experience/training to use his firearm competently, and he'll just panic. There's a joke amongst gunowners in most states, about how they never see cops at the range. Gumshoe seems to fit the stereotype.
56:03 The idea that Miles doesn't know how to count is made funnier when you realise that all the named cases are not in alphabetical order. Which inadvertently implies that the entire police force doesn't know the alphabet...
There’s gonna have to be a “that man” counter if I remember these games correctly lol (aka Edgeworth talking about Phoenix but refusing to say his name as if Capcom is avoiding copyright BUT THEY OWN THE SERIES SO WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS 😂)
Final comment: Candice arm wrote Tonate's ID number in blood after being killed by him. Surely this one case of it actually happening will invigorate the Japanofornia police to arrest suspects based on bloody writing for the next 20 years. Nevermind the fact they missed the message until it was altered later.
13:56 I get that they need to do a tutorial, but the fact that it's just called "logic" really hurts Gumshoe's appearance in regards to his intelligence lol
So something to keep in mind, Gumshoe doesnt know what logic is, and i think in the pg trilogy he was said to be the best detective on the force... suddenly so many of the arrests in the series makes sense.
56:40 Unironically, this is actually correct for hexadecimal numbers. You see, the decimal numbers usually used is called "base 10", so the digits go from 0-9. Hexadecimal numbers are "base 16", so the digits go from 0-15, but because we don't have enough standard numbers we borrow some alphabet letters. They weren’t ditched
They’re simply different names
Can we make that one Prij face a meme?
It is now time for best character

58:12 so no head?
I can't wait for AAI:2 it's the best game in the entire Ace Attorney series also it's the official translation
I am aai1’s biggest fan 🙏🙏
