39:05 I won't rest until I've interrogated every suspicious-looking crook and nanny! (And yes, he's going to say that every time. It's to indicate that you're not done getting all the clues there. He'll say something like "I've already inspected this but it never hurts to take another look" if you have everything you need.)
In addition to "jock sportsman", I always thought Portsman's first name might also be a reference to "J'Accuse!", which he does quite a lot of. Also, Edgeworth's savage internal snark is one of my favorite aspects of these games.
You made me realise that I literally cannot remember the name or appearance of the case 2 victim, even though I finished the game yesterday and know that it was mentioned in the credits
Miles and Gumshoe is just an underrated duo, lol. It's a bit funny how loyal he is to Edgeworth considering Edgeworth is always scissor cutting his salary away, but it's amazing nontheless.
And keeping with tradition, every first case in AA has a Payne in it. As well as the tradition that every game must have a case where a name supposedly written by the victim was used to name a suspect.
_ Is Portman trying to use his coat to fan himself? Because he kept flapping it _ The only way Maggey is gonna keep this job is Edgeworth pulling some strings. She lost the master key & result in a murder during her watch
Portsman is definitly one of my favourite first case opponents. I don't know why exactly but he just is. although that (t-)pose at 4:18 definitly gives me some cult leader vibes. wouldn't surprise me to learn the guy somehow has a bunch of followers who all changed their name to "jim" for his sake.
I always thought the pun of Jaque keep in mind I was a lot younger when I played was “Jacket Sportsman” hence why he’s always fiddling with it lol jock makes a lot more sense.
39:18 That quote will be said so long as you have something to examine at the given panel. If everything is checked, ghe quote will be "I've already examined this area but it doesn't hurt to take another look -at this photograph- " or something like that
Let Maggey have a normal day! Please! Let Gumshoe have a normal day, too! Let jet-lagged Edgeworth have a normal day! 30 minutes to an hour 45? I see no downside here. Look, I know they do things very differently in Japan, but basketball in the hallway seems a little much to me... File-O's are my second favorite, after frosted shredded-docs. It's a miracle that anyone from this universe survived the previous 10 years, it sounds like a warzone. Portsman wouldn't have needed to wipe down his own doorknob; his prints are supposed to be there and wouldn't be suspicious. "Nook and Cranny" Counter when?
I genuinely realized I forgot about the nook and cranny counter until I mentioned it while rewatching, and I didn’t want to have to rewatch the entire playthru 😭
Ooh, I forgot Maggey made a return here! How did Portsman ever get a reputation as a rising star prosecutor when he's this transparent in his lies? As far as how long the case has been going with Portsman claiming to be leading the investigation, I went back and checked the given times from the first part of the stream: Edgeworth discovers the body at 2:05, and the investigation is then just getting underway at 2:56. The scene change to them out in the hallway then has the time as 4:18, so that gives at most just over two hours. Never mind the weird conflating of roles where why in the world a prosecutor would be heading up a police investigation rather than a police detective, because that's just a standard Ace Attorney thing. Okay, I love the joke of Payne going unnamed because Edgeworth has no idea who he is. I didn't remember them repeating that line for Edgeworth every single time. It'll be fun to see the ways Wes decides to vary it up throughout the series. Very excited for more! Both now and after Dual Destinies ends. Also, in case you haven't noticed yet, there's five minutes of nothing at the end of the video currently.
You know what we need? (This will be a spoiler in case you haven't played) Once they get to 2-3, prij should play Gregory. He looks like him back when he didn't have a moustache and he acts the most like an actual attorney
I gotta wonder: Why couldn't they just have the door plates display the names and not the room number? Room numbers being out of order would just look more suspicious, and there would actually be a reason to have interchangeable door plates for names and not numbers.
Yayy! Happy that you guys are playing this game! I was thinking how would you do the voices, and great choice with Zak doing Gumshoe. Kay is being reserved to Prij, right? Right? 😃 30:51 Never realized until now that Maggey has been accused in two cases, but never was with Edgeworth (one was Payne, and othe Godot) 😂
I love Portsman so much, he's such a silly character! Can't help but love him and his stupid design. Also canonically has nipples apparently, which is always good lol
There's a point in the background music that makes it sound like I'm getting a message or an alarm is going off and it's messing with my mind 35:34 My dad's sneezes do that to me too lmao
I've mentioned this before, but as a kid I genuinely thought all dads had like violent sneezes, and that when you become a dad it just happens to you. 😅
"I think the fact that you do get your cross examinations here and there" Spoilers below, but Isn't like the final act of the last case in AAI1 literally just a massive cross examination section that goes on for like a while?
Yeah Investigations 1 has an issue of just kind of being below average the whole way through with a lot of the least interesting victims in the series. Case 1 is alright, all things considered, case 2 is kinda meh but not terrible, case 3 actually is terrible, case 4 is pretty good but has a lot of exposition dumps, and cast 5 is probably the weakest finale in the series, with a killer infamous for taking way too long to take down.
Ace Attorney Investigations 1 is quite frankly the worst Ace Attorney game. That being said it's still pretty good in my opinion. However Ace Attorney Investigations 2 is by far the best in the series. This collection is the best and the worst games in the series.
