I live down here in Yorktown, Virginia. I actually attended the Governor's School for the Gifted at Mary Washington College for one month back in 1980. I really enjoy visiting that region of our state.

This was murder and the Union knew it and the Confederates had sympathy..
It's wonderful that Union played the Dixie and got a few moments both sides remembered they were brothers

Excellent museum, great video, it really shows how the civilian population was impacted there.
Is it really true the aurora borealis was visible the night after the battle was fought- always wondered if it was true or false?

I have family that's lived in the area for generations and no ones ever heard of the Norther n Lights being visible around here. From what I understand it came from a quote written by Joshua Chamberlin that could be misinterpreted. But then again you never know, it could have happened. 🤷‍♂

Thanks for checking- I grew up in the countryside in the days before extreme light pollution, and I never saw them here!!
