Back in my late teens, this song helped me cope with the loss of my grandfather. His birthday always seemed to fall on a cold and frosty morning. 26 years later, I still well up when I hear it.
Perhaps this is one of Oasis' most touching songs along with "Sad Song" and "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" as much as it is underrated. These songs first tear your soul to pieces, making you cry, and then collect it again, giving you a sense of rebirth and rethinking your existence. Oasis is the best band for me for that reason alone.
@@norwegian4320 I think it’s not. Noel actually said that on an interview. He had the song written before WTSMR came out so he actually thought to include it on the CD. He said that if he would have done that the tune could have been ten times more “successful”. It is a great song, but a lot of the people didn’t appreciate it that much at the time.

Just visited and left my son for the first time and it was terrible for both of us saying goodbye. His arms and legs wrapped tightly around me and kissing my cheek .... I wept like a part of me was dying because it was. This song on repeat the whole plane ride home.... Thank you Oasis
This is a hidden classic in their catalog. It never makes any Oasis compilations, but it is a beautiful yet gut wrenching song. Liam sings the hell out of it!
Should have had three great albums really. Wasted what would have been big hits by putting them on B Sides as many of the early stuff was already written. If he'd shortened some of the songs and quitened down the guitar riffs it would have been better. Take a few songs off be here now and replace them with The Masterplan (single song) and Aquiesce and a couple more the album would have been better. His reason when someone said to him why he puts all his best songs out there on b sides et cetera was that he didn't write bad songs anyway so can do that. Unfortunately albums like standing on the shoulder and others didn't quite hit the mark like the early stuff. Heathen Chemistry has great singles on it but many don't like the album. Little by little for me is their last really good song. I remember thinking in life all Evens out on the end. All his good stuff was early on much like Eminem when it came to rap, just my opinion others would disagree, music is objective.

Band paling underrated. Lagu dan lirik diorang memang genius. Album Be Here Now ni lah album first sekali aku beli, harga RM18.90. Jujur aku kata lagu2 diorang in lah yg aku layan masa2 depression dulu.

Liam crooning like a knightingale. Stunning vocal. Thing of beauty even down to that last little vocal flick on the very last word.

If it was “I don’t” then the entire lyric would have the opposite meaning lol.
