At 76 I'll never be a real pianist, but, this sure is fun learning from guys like you. There are a few ideas for how to learn piano Try practicing for an hour each day, or just half an hour if you can't find time. Do more practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you can do more than an hour, perhaps two or three, or even more. (I learned about these and more on Denelle piano lesson site )
I love this teacher, yes the music industry uses simple chord progressions however the engineers and producers have very good techniques to hiding the chords within the music, and making them sound really complex, Even though your ear says that's sounds so easy. Well why would they do this? Because anyone can use that same chord progression and write a completely new song. Hats off to this teacher.
I am a musician of over 40 years, and I still go back to the very first song that I ever played, and flip it around. What really concerns me is the number of musicians out here that do not know how to read music, or write it. Computerized music has raised a generation of lazy people sitting behind an instrument with NO knowledge of the structure of simple songs.
And I'm studying that daily it's fairly memorization of the terms and rules of music. E G B D F if he studies just before falling to sleep literally. I started out mastering electronics music simply trying to make the robots feel or act like a human. The CREATOR inside is the Gold key. Thx

What I mean by that is that a song can be very good without sticking to that structure, and most importantly, that reading or writing sheet music doesn't mean you know or don't know that structure. You asked: " if i want to do runs with my left hand should i do the same thing?" Yes, you can adjust the exercise to fit your left hand, but I have to say that fast left hand runs are a lot less common than right hand runs. However, left hand independence is a great thing to have, so by all means go ahead and do it! You also asked: "just by doing it with my right hand will make it easier using my left hand?" No, whatever you build up in your right hand will not transfer itself to your left. We have to train the left hand independently if we want both hands to be in shape :).
I have watched many beginner videos for piano runs but hands down, yours is the most encouraging! The visual slow playing of chords with the correct fingers, and your no rush technique is so helpful! Thank you!
I like the piece of advice you give at the end about slow practice. The end goal should be playing with equal strength and conviction at any speed. There's nothing like a slow, legato scale or arpeggio sequence played in time without rushing or dragging.
All I can say is you're a great teacher, I can't afford tutorials in piano but thanks to your videos, because of that I didn't skip all the ads as my little payment. :)

This is a great lesson. I came here to broaden my guitar playing perspective. The guitar has the same "fills" as these but done in a very different way. If I didn't have so much more styles and skills to explore on the guitar, I would dig into the piano immediately.
@@MangoldProject I made more progress in one year on piano studying Jazz than I have in decades on guitar. Not a natural born musician but (advanced) chords and sophisticated sequences on piano comes easier to me on piano than on guitar! I've not totally given up on guitar, however.
I have played piano since I was nine; I have always struggled with playing piano runs in my songs. I have just learned that I have been trying to do them with the wrong fingerings. Thank you for the lesson!

I started playing piano at 16 I'm now 17 and I was still slow at reading notes and symbols and strugling to press the keys precisely, so I guess I should practice this one and maybe it should improove my skills
These are the best basic piano skills I've seen so far. I really, REALLY appreciate the clear explanations of what note and finger, when. The speed is slow enough to really follow the details, and he doesn't dummy down the music theory, calling a chord what it actually is..... but again, keeps it simple. THE BEST!
This was a great video and taught me things I never knew such as the effect of the sus2 chord. One piece of advice I would give is to not focus on fingering, because people will be able to figure that out on their own. I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but that's my opinion and you're free to take it on board or completely disregard it

Start out with easy songs. Make sure that you learn how to identify every note on the treble and base cleff. There may be flash cards at your local music store to help you learn things. Such as what everything means. The clef symbols, the natural, sharp, base, and note meanings. Also what key the songs are in. Including what the time frame represents. If you want to learn how to play, then practice. I've played for 22 years. Yet I learned how to do so on my own.

Side note: Runs sound best when using the sustain pedal. If it sounds off then just press the pedal.

You don't have to try difficult things when starting out. Build yourself up slowly but surely, and come back in a year.

Start out with easy songs. Make sure that you learn how to identify every note on the treble and base cleff. There may be flash cards at your local music store to help you learn things. Such as what everything means. The clef symbols, the natural, sharp, base, and note meanings. Also what key the songs are in. Including what the time frame represents. If you want to learn how to play, then practice. I've played for 22 years. Yet I learned how to do so on my own.
