I watch this video and decided I Love everything about wood flag making but I'll leave it to You to make my templates! I'm kinda all thumbs when it comes to computers 😉 I ordered my 1st 2 templates and can't wait for them to arrive! Thanks for all the extremely helpful, detailed instructions.
DroogyT I understand completely, it can be pretty time consuming. I appreciate the order
Thank you. I would like to make a flag or two and your videos have been very helpful.
Thank you, glad to hear the videos helped
Wow this is extremely helpful. I was going crazy looking for a union star stencil for a project involving an American Flag that I’m working on. Thank you so much.
I can't tell you how long I have been looking for a tutorial on stars. This is an awesome video. Thank you so much. I am having an issue that I hope you can help me with. When I add my stars I do not have the measurement attached like you do to tell me the size. I hope you can help. Thanks again for your awesome video!!
Thank you for this tutorial. I used it to set up a turkey track union. Much appreciated your videos have been very help full. And thanks for making these templates available in your store. I have purchased the small and medium star templates so far.
Well done brother!
Awesome stuff Mr. Furr!! I am going to start doing this pretty soon. Thanks for the awesome videos and information that you give us!
Thank you very much, I’m glad you have found my videos helpful. Good luck with your projects and thank you for watching
great stencil..fit perfectly on my union. Thanks again.
Hello Troy, please post Jeff's website, Thank You!
DUH Troy, Sorry I just found the info. Thank you.
What is the site to buy the stencils?
Good video. Suggestion to save time. I'd set up the first 2 rows, group them and copy paste 3 times, then upgroup the last pair and remove the bottom row. Saves a LOT of time. You CAN group shapes in Word. I just tried it for the first time ever and I completed all the stars in about 4 minutes...you do have to eyeball lining up the groups, but it's easy.
Eric Burns great idea, thanks for sharing
Please tell me how I could go about buying these stencils in different sizes in order to make different sized flags. Your diy videos have been amazing and so helpful thank you.
awesome video. I've watched s couple of yours today. I have been building Cornhole boards for years but want to branch out and these flags look awesome. I'd be interested in purchasing your stencils also. thanks.
Brian Watson hey Brian, email me at thefurrminator@gmail.com to get details on the stencils.
sent you an email. Happy Thanksgiving
Brian Watson I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I haven't seen your email unless it's under a different mams
think I left an r out of your address. I'll try to resend.
Great idea Jeff...Have a great day...
Thank you Mike
Thanks for sharing your video. It will definitely help sharpen my skills. Is the lumber you worked with 1x2's? It looked like it, but just want to make sure. Thanks for the help.
c Chance I'm glad you found my video helpful. I used furring strips that were 1.5" wide x .75" thick. Thank you and good luck with your project.
amazing!! Thanks for the lesson.
Hello. I've got some mdf boards that were cut for me so I can start some resin projects. I started the background for what I need for my American flag, but didn't think it out thoroughly. It's about 15.8" tall, and 24" wide. How big should I do my stars so it's proportional to the American flag?
Did you say you sell a star union pattern template?
I was following it well till you were going super fast thanks in advance
I was also wondering if you made or sold any of your other stencils. I was wanting to find the marine corps, and the navy stencils and pretty much any others you might have to add to the flag sir. Please any help would be greatly appreciated
Hey sir, trying to figure out ways to go about stenciling stars onto a flag that isn’t the size of your flag, it’s much larger. Any ideas?
This may be a dumb question, but couldn't you just transfer your print via carbon paper straight to the wood for carving? Essentially your printout is your stencil at that point, and you save the hassle of having to cut 500 lines with an exacto-knife. Just curious to hear your thoughts or if you have tried it that way. I may be overlooking something obvious but that seems like a huge time saver, and probably worth the cost of the carbon paper + you are not having to buy the plastic.
Not a dumb question, your correct, you could transfer the image with carbon paper or you could use a spray adhesive and attach the printout. You can carve through the paper once attached which works pretty well, this is something that I have learned from other flag makers along the way. I appreciate your comment, thank you for watching
great job. thank you
I noticed that the res color of the stripes seems to be a transparent stain or a dye? How did you achieve the red coloring? Thank in advance!
How do you make the plastic stencils? Thanks
I have a sheet of stars that I just happen to have, who knows why. It is 7 1/8 X 10 inches. What would my flag size be using this stencil.
Thanks for your helpful video, I just made my first stencil yesterday. It was very time consuming but I knew that going in. On the 19 1/2 wide x 37 long you said you used 1.1 inch stars, but what size did you use on your smaller stencil measuring 13wide x 24 1/2in long? I would like to make stencil for this size also.
I used .7" stars for that stencil.
I would also like to purchase the various stencils. How do I do that
Just purchased a medium stencil. The price was a buck higher than what you have stated in the details of this video.
Ken Bayard yes sir, sorry about that but this video was recorded about a year ago and since that time I had to adjust my prices
man that awesome, thank you
J. J thank you and thanks for watching
Any chance you would make me a custom stencil? I have made several, and sold, flags out of pallet wood in the past. But instead of stars in the union, I put sheep or a Border collie. However, I was doing the stencil, one vinyl sticker/stencil at a time...and of course my placement wasnt the best. Would love one of each, and I have the silhouettes.
Stephanie Summers email me at thefurrminator@gmail.com to work out the details
After watching your video I wondered, would this be easier to create using Excel? After all, the stars are really nothing more than an alternating grid pattern.
Very possibly, I'm not that up on Excel so I couldn't advise anyone on that. Thank you for watching
Made a wooded flag; what size wooden stars or stencil do I need for flag 37” x 22”1/2 ; with the union size 14”1/2 x 10”1/2 . This is my first attempt to make a flag and I don’t know where I can find stars or stencils
How can I buy the stincil
Mr. Furr, What is the height and width of the Union on each of the flags that you create?
Tyler Connery 10'1/2 by 13'1/4 i believe
Tyler Connery here is a link to a video about the dimensions ua-cam.com/video/JgPK-ay70CI/v-deo.html
Check out the Rustic American Flag playlist for many more flag related videos
See his above vid
What size stencil would work well for a 10.5” x 14.25” union? Thanks
How do you figure the size of the Union, stripes, for your flags?
digging the videos. just as a tip you should be able to set a string of stars. select all and then copy and paste for the next row and set all the stars at once
So I am making a flag. 40 inch by 26 in. Star square is 14inx14in.
What size stars do I need to make in word? Please help!
Where do you find the plastic stencil sheets?
What size do you use on the 13x24
What size did you use on your small stars?
If my flag is 37 inches long and 21.75 inches tall and the union is 14.8 inches long and 11.62 inches tall, what should the diameter of my stars be?
Jared email me at thefurrminator@gmail.com and I'll try to give you the details
What are the dimensions of your large and extra large flags? Medium is 37x19 if i recall, but not sure of others.
Hunter Phillips the small is 13 x 24.5 , medium is 19.5 x 37, large is 26 x 47 and XLarge is 36 x 72
I would like to figure out how to order one of your stencils
Kaleb L email me your mailing address at thefurrminator@gmail.com and let me know what size stencil(s) you want.
Thanks
Amos Lewis you're welcome, I'm glad you found my video to be helpful. Good luck with the stencils and the flags.
How do we purchase a stencil?
you could have/ should have used MS Powerpoint for this project. I has the shapes and it has all the snapping options where the corners of each box will snap together. It is the same as what you did, just way more efficient and exacting... Good work though.
