A hydraulic top link was one of the top 10 tractor essentials according to a poll by Good Works Tractors recently. You made that installation look easier than I first thought, Bryce.
@@PeaceIntheValley Good so far. It seems to have survived me doing the 50 hr service. We have a lot of tree work and my wife is into gardening so having the tractor makes the work enjoyable. I appreciate yours and other guys videos. It really helps. 😊
A nice honest video. No need to use Teflon tape when you have “copper” crushable seals. Not a bad idea to leave banjo bolts loose while making sure everything moves well together before running the tractor. I just received my top link yesterday. I’m excited to get it installed and put it to use.
@@PeaceIntheValley Happy New Year. I did, but I’ve either been too busy with the kids, holidays, or it’s been pouring rain pretty much non stop. Though I have used it to angle the weight box for the best drainage.
With the locking block on the top link you could adjust it as needed and then unplug the hoses if you need to use the remote port for other implements.
that is exactly right. I usually do that when I have the backhoe on. It's a pretty easy install. My brother just found it was leaking a little at the connection. I need to tighten it up a slightly.
18 1/8” - 26 3/8” - I believe it was the same one that Tony's Tractor adventure had linked. I'm going to update the video with a link to the amazon product so people can read up on it. I thought it was in there already. Thanks!
that's a good questions, I'm not sure. I was only wanting to make sure it didn't come loose. So far, I've had no issues. I did change out the fluid after I installed the top link.
Thanks for the videos I just got my rk25 in part from watching videos like yours can you post the link for the sun shade you have and tell me if you like it?
The positioning of the fuel tank makes it nearly impossible to install the other way. The other problem if you install with the hook up, is the toplink sags when not connected making it hard to hook up to the backhoe. I have had no issues with it installed this way.
It took me a while to get past this point before I bit the bullet. The top link is operated by the valve control under the seat. it's the same one that people bump when getting on and off the tractor seat and the backhoe not working right. It has left, neutral and right - forward, stop, back. (that also depends on how you hook it up.)
You are right but if I put in that way I have to remove the toplink when hooking up the backhoe. If put it on this way, it makes the toplink at a higher angle and I don't have to.
I just ordered an RK25 as my first tractor ever. I ordered the 3rd function but that is in the front controlled by two buttons on the maim controller stick. On the top link, which level is used to control the top hydrochloric link?
there is a steel rod that comes out from under the seat and it has 3 positions - right, left, center. right and left control the direction of flow to the rear remotes and that includes the backhoe, top link, or anytihng else connected. The neutral position keeps the top link in position. The rod is actually a little too easy to bump. You'll know it immediately because nothing connected to the remotes will work.
@@PeaceIntheValley I ordered a 12x20x23 suv/truck peak style for my RK 25 which I'm getting on the 29th. I ordered the backhoe, will it fit in the shed with the loader on it.
Mf buy through AGCO. AGCO buy from Sparex, sparex does come from china. Their top link for my tractor comes in at $2600 was $2900. So I brought the same top link directly from china $396 delivered.

It actually took just a few minutes even with having to grind down the fittings slightly. I was quite happy with that. thanks!!
Thanks for the video. I purchased one for my RK25 after watching. Seeing your adventure helped. 😊
how is your new tractor working for you?

I think you'll love it. It works great with the Pat's quick hitch if you have/get that.
Did you get your top link installed? do you like it?

Happy New Year.
I did, but I’ve either been too busy with the kids, holidays, or it’s been pouring rain pretty much non stop. Though I have used it to angle the weight box for the best drainage.
What fell to the ground at 5:04 mark in the video. It looks like a washer? I know, this is a year old, but it might still be missing from?....
it was a washer. I got it picked up. It's a good idea to keep them on the pins, sometimes I don't though. Thanks for watching!

Stupid question, forgive me, new to tractors. How do you control the top link piston?
Hi Jonathan, That was one of my first questions too. It's the lever under the seat. Left - neutral - right. retracts, stops or extends.
Never grind the tractor parts just the part you are putting on it.
exactly! I should have mentioned that.
Yea I choked on my coffee
I am gonna get one. Certainly will make box blading easy.
Shouldn't That chrome wire attached to the TL should be facing to the top to hook it when not in use to the hook
that's a good question. If i put the wire on top, then the top link sags in the way of things like the backhoe.
I wouldn’t use Loctite on a hydraulic hose fitting. If the hose ever breaks you’re gonna have to replace it.
What lever are you hitting to activate the top link
I use the lever under the seat. It's defaulted to neutral flow and then left or right will extend or retract.
I want one for my JD...thanks.
after using it more, I really like it! I bet you will too!
Have you had any issue with the hanger hitting the PTO shaft when you have an attachment that uses a PTO?
I have not had that issue but I have had the plastic safety collar get bunched up while running the PTO on two different implements. very frustrating!
What length did you go with on the hydraulic top link
18 1/8” - 26 3/8” - I believe it was the same one that Tony's Tractor adventure had linked. I'm going to update the video with a link to the amazon product so people can read up on it. I thought it was in there already. Thanks!
Won’t the red lock tight contaminate the hydraulics? I’ve never seen anyone use lock tight on hydraulic fittings before.
that's a good questions, I'm not sure. I was only wanting to make sure it didn't come loose. So far, I've had no issues. I did change out the fluid after I installed the top link.
Thanks for the videos I just got my rk25 in part from watching videos like yours can you post the link for the sun shade you have and tell me if you like it?
Actually, I made the sunshade. It can be removed in 30 seconds but stays on with no problem. Is it something you would like to see, or like the plans?
@@PeaceIntheValley both if possible I really liked the simplicity of it.
Ok. i will put that on my video list. Sorry about not replying earlier. I've noticed YT doesn't always tell me when I get a response.
Can you use the bucket and rear top link together or does it have to be disconnected to use bucket?
Both the Front end Loader and the top link are both connected. The RK25 comes with the rear remotes as a standard item. very nice!
Never add loctight to banjo bolts. If you have to replace the lines you will ruin the threads on the cylinder.
One reason would be to free couple of hydraulic connections for something else. The top link is handy tho
Installed backwards lines and manifold should be top side for protections from branches and rocks.
The positioning of the fuel tank makes it nearly impossible to install the other way. The other problem if you install with the hook up, is the toplink sags when not connected making it hard to hook up to the backhoe. I have had no issues with it installed this way.
What lever operates the top link?

It has left, neutral and right - forward, stop, back. (that also depends on how you hook it up.)
Thanks, love the tractor vids
It's upside down. That silver thing hanging down is used to hold the top link up when it isn't in use. Most tractors have a clip it goes in.
You are right but if I put in that way I have to remove the toplink when hooking up the backhoe. If put it on this way, it makes the toplink at a higher angle and I don't have to.

@@PeaceIntheValley Thanks, I know the one you are talking about.
I cringed when i saw you grind on the tractor. Just grinding the top link is good enough
I agree on that. I was using the brush to clean it up on the tractor. I was only grinding on the top link.
Thanks again. Question what size shed is your tractor in.
I found my receipt is from Tractor Supply - Shelter logic 12 X 24 X 11 FT BARN SHELTER GREEN

13 not 23, sorry
I think that will work. I actually used the tractor to help lift the frame up while constructing the shelter.
