    I never got any of the Battleforce 2000 stuff; primarily because the vehicles and figures were sold separately. However, I did think it was a clever concept at the time, and the commercial showing how they fit together to whoop ass further piqued my interest; hey, I was 14 in 1987! Great review, and I appreciate the collaboration with and the assist from Joefan82!

  • @donaldthompson9938

    I think the reason they sold the action figures and vehicle separately was possibly that if kids didn't have the money to buy the vehicle they could a least get the action figure instead. Toys were going up in price in the late 80's.

    I got my BF2000 figures in the two-packs at the time and I had none of the vehicles. I loved Avalanche and with the mic he was co pilot of my favorite Snow Cat! To me the snow theme was my favorite aspect and any new figures were enjoyed!

  • @mikewilson858
    @mikewilson858 2 роки тому +3

    Giving it a second look, I like the vehicle. Along with the snow mobile aspect, that shell could be a way to make it amphibious. Adding skirts to tanks to make them float has come up time and again. Don’t know why future soldiers have to have silver accessories.

    I love Avalanche's file card, that part about him hunting and skinning wild animals with just a knife, selling the furs, then using the money to put himself up in a motel is a hilarious series of events. I can just imagine the commanding officers talking about it over the phone like: "Where IS Costello? It's been a month, did he die out ther- he's alive? And he's WHERE?? How the hell did he get a motel room!? He sold furs from animals he killed and has been living the high life in a motel for the past 30 days? Get me Duke from G. I. Joe on the line, I think I have a place for that maniac..."

    I was long out of collecting by the time this figure/vehicle set came out. It's nice to see what way the action figure line progressed and your video does that well. I've always had a soft spot for the arctic vehicles because my jump on point was G.I. Joe Issue 11, Snow Job and the Battle Arctic Cat snowmobile. It seems to me Hasbro was upping it's game with this line, competing with all the gimmicky toy lines, so it's understandable that this toy is so different than the previous lines. Great work on your video and looking forward to future Battleforce 2000 shows.

    HoodedCobraCommander788 +HoodedCobraCommander788 The firing of missiles out of a canon was utilized with MGM-51 Shillilagh which was designed to be fired out of the turret from the M60A2 "Starship" Patton version and the M551 Sheridan AR/AAV. It was a bit of a failure. From the blueprints, it appears the Dominator is using a similar missile in addition to standard tank rounds.

      Yep. They're pushing up daisies. All except Dodger.

    • @bartdman95
      @bartdman95 7 років тому +2

      Really? I didn't know that. I didn't have much access to G.I.Joe comics nor TV. I could only read and buy the comics once in a blue moon if they reach my 3rd world country on a store called BOOK SALE. And regarding episodes on TV, well, our house only had 1 TV set. And my Grand parents kept on watching a show called "Jan N' Marcia" With the same time slot. I only was able to watch a handful of episodes thanks to a neighbor who always recorded the episodes on Betamax. We had access to the toys despite not having much access to G.I.Joe media.
      The trading card where I read the death of the Battle Force 2000 team was on a bootleg card of Maverick. It was an Honor Hall card. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I still have it in my Bootleg card collection somewhere.
      Why was Dodger spared? Was he able to dodge the firing squad?
      :)
      Thanks for reading and replying sir. :) I hope to see you soon on a UA-cam REWIND video in the future..

    I so agree with you with the overwhelming futuristic stuff.
    I bought all this gimmick, none of those vehicles looked good or realistic.
    as concept, I would have preferred no drivers and a lower price point,
    put driving as secondary specialty, that would have made army building easier.
    an apc with an armored cover instead of canvas would have been a much better idea than the 2000 mess.
    still, it s entertaining to watch what you hated most about it,
    it reminds me my own deception when I gathered the whole circus together.
    the dominator was way too small, put it against a mobat for a laugh, [or cry...]
    and the figs did nt look as a team in any shape or color...
    it looks like army vehicles that don t want to be in the army, or serve any realistic purpose.
    probably designed by playmobil....lol.

    The idea of launching a missile from a tank's main gun isn't without precedent. The 152mm gun on the M551 Sheridan was designed to fire the MGM-51 Shillelagh anti tank missile.

    These would be more acceptable if they were packaged together. Separately, neither is very attractive. When this came out, I was not collecting GI Joe anymore (I drew the line at Crystal Ball), so I never had these toys. Could the cylinders on his left leg be flares or some kind of silly ammo cartridge for his weird gun? I can't make out the more pointy detail on top, so it's difficult to tell what Hasbro had in mind. And the way it's strapped to his leg seems less than ideal. Maybe it's special poaching/hillbilly gear.
