He was the most versatile actor Hollywood ever produced. He acted in each role with passion. We will never see one like him again.
I liked him in Guns of Navarone……one of my favourite films.
Anthony Quinn spoke at our graduation ceremony. His grandson Wade Colwell was in our graduating class of 1987. Very exciting time with a lot of onlookers.
Even today l feel it a special treat for one of his movies to be on tv. He was a man for all seasons.
Oh, same here. I'll re-watch any movie on TV if he's in it.
All I say is thank God for film, and Anthony Quinn!
There isn't a piece of work he did, that I didn't absolutely love! ❤
yes, agreed priceless🥰🥰🥰...............
great actor, person, and manly man.. viva anthony quinn,
A very passionate actor. Once you see him in any one of his wonderful performances, you'll never forget him.
He's that memorable ✨️
I wish the lady that is doing the Narrating, got all of the Narrating parts! She has a really great voice, and it is very calming and relaxing to listen to, and she also speaks at the perfect pace!❤
I hate to break it to you but I think that is an AI generated voice. You can tell by some of the mispronounced words. A lot of these video content creators are using AI voices now, they come in all sorts of inflections.
@@chirelle.alanalooney8609 voice is irritating
I just finished watching the Romon Novorro chapter, and thought "She should do one on Anthony Quinn." And sure enough you did one. Canadian Right On.
Thinking ahead! Thanks for watching

One of my fav movies with Quinn is Shoes of the Fisherman he became pope of the catholic church
A very underrated film
Yeah, I was very surprised that the film and his role as the Pope were not mentioned because this role probably took a lot from that early training he received with the priest.
I like this film -rarely seen over here in Ireland and not mentioned very often - But, I very much like it and think it should be better known
Wish you had shown at least one art piece by him!!
You did a wonderful job on this video, I enjoyed it so much!
Thank you so much!
One of my favirite movies with Anthony Quinn was The Shoes Of The Fisherman I was very young when my mother took me to see it. A great movie. Its a prophetic about a non Italian Pope from a Soviet or Communist country. Just think years later Pope John Paul in 1977. The author of the book asked how he would get thinks right in his book. He said it was because he paid attention attention to history. Anyway Anthony Quinn Was The Greatest !!!! 🕺💃
Nothing surprised me about Anthony Quinn except the fact that he was into making sculptures I knew about his artwork but not about the sculpture so much or the fact that he also made jewelry. So I'm not sure what the mystery was and I feel kind of like let down in a way I was expecting their to be more to the story than what I already knew and but I suppose that's the problem when you have great expectations, he was a very interesting character my father may have met him it might have been one of those times he knew a lot of the celebrities because of the work that he did charity work that he did and so I wouldn't be surprised if he had known him I just know that he one time told me when I asked if he was Greek he said no he was Mexican-American and I said what do you mean by that and he said well he was born in Mexico and he became American... And my dad could relate to that, because he himself was a immigrant.
First time I've watched your show. I tend to stay clear of click bait names and thumbnails but was interested in Anthony Quinn and was hoping for more than salacious rubbish. You didn't disappoint, thankyou.
The effort to make your voice sound "sexy" is disconcerting. There are moments when your true voice shines through and sounds so much better.
I totally agree.
Yeah. This was really annoying and a little creepy.
When Anthony Quinn retired to Bristol RI, my 5 year old niece wandered off in a supermarket and my sister found Mr. Quinn talking to my niece. He was very gentle while speaking to her and when my sister found her, she was surprised to see Mr. Quinn. ♥️
He was my mother’s favorite actor, and I loved the movie Barabbas.
And Quinn dancing with Rita Hayworth in Blood and Sand.
The union of their dancing was so spiritually divine. Did you see Rita Hayworth dance in the movie Gilda. The famous scene where she dances to the song Put the Blame on Mame Boys! When Rita appeared on the Carol Burnett show, Burnett asked her how she held up that black dress. Rita Hayworth answered
"Two good reasons!" 😂
@@doberman1ism yes!
omg, they totally corrupted me. 😂
@@bethparker1500 and me...sigh!
I always enjoy Anthony Quinn's work - including his many supporting roles - he always lent a film a certain polish - he would appear on screen in the 1930s and 40s not say a word - and steal the scene from the main actors - later when he starred in films - he proved to be one of the most charismatic of actors and that combined with his work as a Painter, sculptor, and writer - show us what a highly talented man he was - I also think he would have been a very interesting man to have a conversation with
No one could do Zorba The Greek any better than Anthony Quinn. He was wonderful in that movie!
As a kid I loved his film, ‘The Shoes of the Fisherman’. Great actor
That was a great documentary😊
Thank you!
I liked the Narrator in this presentation. She was very clear, and spoke at a perfect pace to follow. The tone in her voice was pleasant, and soothing to listen to.
hello........great share , thank you , for sharing🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰......................
I loved him as a kid.❤
…he left home because he didn’t like the way he was being reared…but he went back again because he couldn’t leave his brother’s behind
His brother's what????
NOT‼️
That would only be funny if he was Greek. He was Irish & Mexican
@@AlexandertheGreat99😂😮😂
Really interesting life, very well told ,beautiful narrators voice ..
Thanks for listening!
One of the best voices I've ever heard
I always heard that Mr. Quinn did study at Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin School off and on in the late 30's and early 40's. Since it was still the Great Depression years, Mr Wright encouraged Quinn to go back to Hollywood and make any movie role that came his way. Anthony would return with back payments on his tuition, which helped the fellowship survive during some very lean years. Mr Wright took on lots of students who couldn't pay a dime in tuition at that time. Just wonder what this genius of an artist would have accomplished had he gone into architecture instead of acting. Mexican architects are some of the best.
I had a crush on him. Ive got good taste😊
Me too
I think you forgot his supporting role in John Candy's 1987 film "Only the Lonely", which teamed him up with Maureen O'Hara.
Your voice is calming. Thank you.
Thank you!
@@HollywoodMysteriesI very much enjoy your content -However, I subbed because of your VOICE ! Excellent 👍👍👍

He was Mexican and Mexican-Irish from Mexico, than moved to East LA.
It is mentioned in the beginning of this
Like Wonder Woman (sorry can't think of her name).
VISITED CHIHUAHUA MEXICO in 1970s Glorious place back then knew of his Hispanic background
I actually remember as far back is the late 70s hearing that he was Latino
Huh. As a kid watching his movies & tabloids, I thought he was Greek.
@loritracy1385 ZORBA was ...
@@sulevisydanmaa9981- Who played Zorba?
@@loritracy1385Anthony Quinn played Zorba the Greek.
@@DulceN - Thank you! That's why my kid brain crossed wires on that. 😁
Because of Zorba The Greek and he also portrayed Aristotle Onassis the Greek shipping magnet who was married to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Aristotle Onassis told Anthony Quinn that if a movie was to be made about his life he wanted for Anthony Quinn to portray him.
Onassis always got what he wanted.
What about the movie "Revenge" with Kevin Costner?
love narrator's voice
HeAnyone remember him in Tony Scott's 1990 film "Revenge" with Kevin Costner?
Oh that was an excellent film with Madeline Stowe as Quinn's wife. That is the most memorable relationship between the three of them.
@@doberman1ism Director Tony Scott is great at the revenge film noir genre. Like "Man On Fire" with Denzel Washington.
It was Kevin Costner
These videos are all brilliantly narrated, but looking at studio photo, after studio photo, after studio photo gets tedious. The visuals need a lot more variety.
😮😮😮A I at it's finest..I do believe!! Lauren Bacall's been gone for a spell!! The future is here ,😅😅😮😮
Didn't mention his early movies like "Blood and Sand" where he did play a Mexican
What was, or were, the mysteries?
Click bait. We've been had!.
I have to admit, I haven't seen a huge amount of Quinn's films, as he never really grabbed me as an actor, in the way Javier Bardem did when I first saw him in early roles but then again, Quinn was from well before my time. I have seen his classics and I especially (as an arty type) appreciate his Paul Gaugin in the fine but not fantastic 'Lust for Life'. Personally (no offence big fans) I always felt there was just something missing from his performances, to make him stellar. Maybe I should revisit 'La Strada' (a fine Fellini) again or some other key films and reassess. Thanks for another worthy upload. I appreciate your background music free videos. Your voice is your instrument, making the music and you play it well✨
Thanks for watching again - and yes, La Strada is well worth a rewatch!
@@HollywoodMysteriesOnce again, it's my pleasure. Thanks
Watch Zorba the Greek and I promise you- you will change your mind about him. He is absolutely magnificent in it!
@@katzolitamason6729 I saw Zorba the Greek a few years ago but maybe I will rewatch and reassess it through more mature eyes. I just have a stubborn, I am not feeling this actors work kinda thing that happens, like with Dave Bautista, Idris Elba, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman and others these days; sorry guys. Will let you know if it happens. Cheers
She needs to bring her energy up a bit.
Did I miss the part about WC Fields backyard?
His young child (first born) drowned in the pond
I do love watching "Hollywood Mysteries."
How about calling it "Hollywood Mysteries Confidential?"
I looked up William Selleck Studio. Couldn't find it
It's William Selig Studios aka the Selig Polygraph Company
Selig. So much for the narrator's elocution.
Emiliano Zapata, not Effemio.
What an interesting dude.
great actor but the part with adopting the young girl was a bit sketchy lol
I have to laugh the religion of peace, being offended. As l watched a pro pal aggressive London protest. The more things change the more they stay the same. Needless to say AQ was a well rounded actor.
Why laugh..people confuse religion with faith denominations and church.. religion just means something you do repetitively..peace can be religion.meaning you religiously practice peace..religion has nothing to do with faith..
@@swampghost72 That's right -- excuse them.
@@OriginalRocketJock Exactly
Oh please, just go somewhere else with your views. We're here to learn something about Anthony Quinn, not your views on religion
My dad loved him so much my middle name is Anthony
👍😊
What is a polyglod?
The word is spelled "polyglot". It is a person who speaks multiple languages.
FYI Google functions as a very good source of information.
Where is the mention about looking over into the neighbor’s back yard?! 😡
@@vkm416 It was when Quinn's son drowned in WC Fields' pool.
And I thought he was Italian. Sure puts a spike in the spokes of the Anti immigration folks bicycle who have nothing positive to say about immigrants. What a remarkable person he was.
The United States takes in more migrants than any other nation. This has been the case for decades. There is no anti immigration movement. Only anti illegal mass migration.
The t in Clift is silent.
Sorry but that's incorrect. Everyone including Monty himself pronounced the 't'.
Ur voice is a bit too slow, making it annoying. Sorry.
Zorba was a murderer
What proof do you have? I never read that!
