- Like most musicians I'm currently unable to tour or perform in front of a live audience, so instead I'm starting a live in the studio video series called THE FUTURE BITES SESSIONS, creating new stripped down versions of songs in my own studio. Appropriately for Halloween the first one is a performance of new single KING GHOST. Please feel free to suggest any songs you would like me to revisit in this way, it's going to be fun!

mark connolly ... Not sure about that. It’s actually what most great bands do: compose complex grandiose works of arts on the first albums. This involves A LOT of work and it also requires you to work with and accept band members contributions to make it more attainable. Then, like most great bands, the latter albums are more simple, easier to do, less involved. I prefers the harder path.
@@lachimere1 I don't feel that difference with steven's songwriting. there are plenty of things I didn't like in previous albums that I think he adjusted now. if you're just talking about musical complexity, that's a poor point of view music is beautiful independently from its complexity

This sounds so cool. It sounds so real. Not that the studio version is "fake" or anything like that. I just don't know how to explain. What I know is that I loved this soooo much! Keep the good work and I am looking forward to more live sessions!
Less effects and polishing than on the album version, so it's a quite honest recording. I agree that it sounds very real, and the singing is spot on!

The chorus is gorgeous. I’ve listened to this only 2 times now and that falsetto melody is stuck in my head. He has been doing music like this long before he got heavier on riffage. Some of my favorite stuff by Steven is the earliest Porcupine Tree tunes. He has always had a pop sensibility that attracted me. It’s what keeps catchy but his intelligent approach keeps things interesting. I’m so ready to hear me some new Steven Wilson tunes!

Love this song. I don't see it as a huge departure from previous work - this song still has that beautiful melody and melancholic atmosphere that drew me to Steven Wilson's work in the first place. Gorgeous song.

Thanks Steve, I got a nice present for my birthday. It was a bad day today. As I grew up it feels more exhausting to go on every year and get on with every day. I like playing my guitar. Sometimes I try to play your songs, just for my sake. I hope you'll continue to make music the way you feel. Make it for yourself, more than your fans. You'll probably not see it, but if you do thank you for this.
King Ghost=superb. With the low register electronic voice effect; having originally watched the video first I could have sworn Mikael Akerfedt had been brought in. That should be called the Mikael Effect. Brilliant !

I cannot understand, why someone is still wanting the old sound style from the artist. This is gorgeous as any of his work before and is, indeed, not any deviation from the previous recent work. Perhaps a bit different angle. As far as I remember MUSE attributed the song Pressure to the same phenomenon. We can see it nowadays more than ever that life is change.
I want old sound couse this new direction is crap. I still am fan of PT and his solo albums up to Grace for drowning. But this new music isn't any good and SW lost a fan

Composition is still brilliant.
Only issue is he doesn't have a full band setup, so doesn't sound like his earlier projects.

Love the studio sessions of any musician, for that matter. Hard to explain but creates a sense of more understanding on what goes on behind the scenes which brings it all into perspective. Helps me also understand the different intricacies of instruments being utilized throughout a song.

Couldn't agree more. On first listen to the studio release, I was surprised at the direction he went but after listening to it a dozen times or so, it is up there with any of his best - and the production is amazing. And this "unplugged" release is a nice touch. What a great tune.
